.... and then Richard madden was robb-ed. Bodyguard nominated (he's 90% of the show) but not him as lead... and why drama actress had 7 slots and actor only 6 ?
Emmys have a rule where if the sixth and seventh placed nominees are within a negligible percentage of each other to basically be the same, then they both get nominations. If Richard was 7th place, for example, the gap between whoever scored 6th (let's be real, it was probably Kit or Milo) and him was distant enough to not warrant a seventh nominee. Emmy rules are weird that way.
This year's Emmy's had a lot of undeserving Game of Thrones nominations .. Apparently repeating the phrases 'You're muh queen' and 'I don't want it' is more deserving of a nomination than playing the incredibly complex David Budd
These round tables are fascinating. I remember when this kind of intelligent in depth discussion used to be a regular feature on mainstream TV, now all you get is 5 minutes of a person on their promotional tour of the various "chat" late night shows for their latest movie/record/book etc
Why does Hugh Grant not have a talk show? He has a commanding personality with a dry, clever, humorous wit. He has an appeal that draws the public toward him and makes them pause and listen to what he has to say. His looks and his blue eyes also help the man out!
He may play the bumbling Englishman character well but in real life, Hugh is eloquent and incredibly intelligent (was a scholar at Oxford and graduated with honors). A hero in real life too as he was one of the people who exposed the extent of the UK phone-hacking scandal. Grant wired himself and recorded a former journalist who admitted that "editors had ordered journalists to engage in illegal phone tapping and had done so with the full knowledge of senior British politicians."
I always feel a bit reluctant watching an hour video... but these roundtables are simply amazing and so fun to watch,. This host, (Lacey?) is a treasure!!
Richard Madden should be James Bond Sam Rockwell should be the next villain. Imagine how god damn great they would be. Rockwell is an absolute nut job without even being on screen. Seven Psychopaths is just him haha. I love he guy
I think Richard's portrayal of John Reid in Rocketman was excellent, and it's a hard character to play, he's almost universally despised (he abused Elton John, who is a very beloved figure). I'm not sure if he's straight or not, but I think he did a great job of playing up the villain part more than the gay part. Like, he played Reid as a man who happened to be gay, but who was first and foremost an absolute prick, which seemed very poignant.
Easily the most reserved round table I have seen. Maybe its because Ive been watching the comedy ones lately but you almost forget there are other people at the table when they do close ups.
can i just say THANK YOU to The Hollywood Reporter for putting in the little subtitles/pictures, so I don't have to stop and google facts every ten seconds !
Diego Luna is... something else. he was PHENOMENAL in Narcos... can wait to see him as a leading man in some quality movies (I mean I HAVE seen him in amazing Mexican movies please watch his filmography)
Can’t believe Richard was snubbed from the Emmy well at least he got the golden globe, he was phenomenal in Bodyguard and can’t wait to see more of him! Can’t wait to see him in MCU!
What Stephan James said is very true : Hollywood rarely depicts accurately contemporaneity. Very good at spin-off and period series, movies etc but Hollywood got trouble reflecting and seizing the moment, in fiction not in excellent documentaries...

If Richard was 7th place, for example, the gap between whoever scored 6th (let's be real, it was probably Kit or Milo) and him was distant enough to not warrant a seventh nominee.
Emmy rules are weird that way.
“robb-ed” HAH
This year's Emmy's had a lot of undeserving Game of Thrones nominations .. Apparently repeating the phrases 'You're muh queen' and 'I don't want it' is more deserving of a nomination than playing the incredibly complex David Budd
Ha I see what U did there
Richard Madden is one of the best looking men on the planet
Absolutley.
He's stunning.
So good looking.
These round tables are fascinating. I remember when this kind of intelligent in depth discussion used to be a regular feature on mainstream TV, now all you get is 5 minutes of a person on their promotional tour of the various "chat" late night shows for their latest movie/record/book etc
Bodyguard was some of the best acting I have ever seen and will ever see
Richard Madden and Diego Luna sitting next to each other is tripping me out, their accents are killing me 💕✨
Why does Hugh Grant not have a talk show?
Narcos Mexico took courage to produced. Love this guy.
I love hugh and his british humor.
More people need to watch this, an hour went by without me knowing since I was so engrossed with each actor’s responses!
Richard Madden is such a great actor
Richard Madden is such an incredible actor. So damn humble too
Billy's facial expressions give me life! Hahahaha...
Thank you, Billy Porter for real in-depth, nuts and bolts analysis of how a career works.
This series is so badly promoted... its been up over three days and hasn't even reached 90,000 views
I like to have Richard Madden's authentic scottisch accent around the table. It's not that often!
DIEGO IS 40!!!!????? Where did MY youth go?
Omg love love love Billy and gosh why is Hugh so funny. Age has given him such charisma.
Hugh Grant has always been charismatic...
Thoroughly enjoyed this conversation. Great hosting and the men all added something interesting to the mix. Thank you THR!
Narcos was one of the greatest series! Well done, and exciting.
I always feel a bit reluctant watching an hour video... but these roundtables are simply amazing and so fun to watch,. This host, (Lacey?) is a treasure!!
16:20 woah that was amazing what he said "your body doesn't know that it's not real"
So glad to see Billy Porter at the table. He’s a great influence on the industry.
Everytime Billy Porter speaks, I listen.
So Richard was the only one modest enough to say he didnt feel like he had made it yet 😂
Love it.
Lol
That's why I love actors like him. Very humble and real...I do love Sam though lol
Richard Madden is divine with that grey swoop in his hair.
Richard Madden should be James Bond
Sam Rockwell should be the next villain.
Imagine how god damn great they would be. Rockwell is an absolute nut job without even being on screen. Seven Psychopaths is just him haha. I love he guy
I love that Hugh is taking care of the posters in my country ❤️
Omg Billy is really taking his time to answer one single, simple question.
As he should
Michał Wu Well, yea. In a world of word vomit I’m happy to hear something that’s actually well thought out. Maybe that’s just me 🤷🏾♀️
If they all answered the questions with one line or a few simple lines then this would only be about 10-15 min
And what about it?
"Poor ol' Paddington" LOL
I think Richard's portrayal of John Reid in Rocketman was excellent, and it's a hard character to play, he's almost universally despised (he abused Elton John, who is a very beloved figure). I'm not sure if he's straight or not, but I think he did a great job of playing up the villain part more than the gay part. Like, he played Reid as a man who happened to be gay, but who was first and foremost an absolute prick, which seemed very poignant.
they need to do this with musicians too. i'd looooove to see a musicians round table from different genres etc.
Easily the most reserved round table I have seen. Maybe its because Ive been watching the comedy ones lately but you almost forget there are other people at the table when they do close ups.
this might've been the calmest round table talk I've ever seen. i love it.
Bill Porter though... PREACH!!!!!
I LOVE hughs honesty- so funny and refreshing
I can’t believe Diego Luna said Dirty Dancing was a terrible movie! It’s an amazing guilty pleasure
I literally love that move but can definitely admit it was terrible hahaha
rebecca hansborough It is one of the best bad movies. I know it by heart.
can i just say THANK YOU to The Hollywood Reporter for putting in the little subtitles/pictures, so I don't have to stop and google facts every ten seconds !
Finally a Mexican actor!! Diego síguele echando ganas 🇲🇽
The first thing I check when opening such videos is if I see Steven Galloway's face.If not then I proceed.
Madden's eyebrow raises though ! and can you believe that grey streak is natural! lol ok I stop now.
Richard Madden is so gorgeous. I clicked on the video for his face, but stayed for the roundtable discussion.
looking at richard madden here makes me think he would be a good james bond
marebbpc with Diego Luna as the Bond villain
Cough of a good king of the north
Here for Diego Luna 🇲🇽 😍
What Stephan James said is very true : Hollywood rarely depicts accurately contemporaneity. Very good at spin-off and period series, movies etc but Hollywood got trouble reflecting and seizing the moment, in fiction not in excellent documentaries...
gosh i enjoyed this interview so much! the amount of intelligence, the wit, the humour each of them have to express their opinion, feelings, and craft on a personal, deeper level is amazing!
Hey Diego Luna! I will always love Dirty Dancing Havana Nights!
Great interviewer, she knows how to keep the convo going and not interrupt at the wrong time and try and move the convo forward at other times.
I just love Richard Madden. That.
I can't stop laughing at how Richard Maddens' hair makes him look like Steven Toast
Omfg I can see it now 💀💀
Love that someone on here knows who Steven Toast is. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Love this host! She is the best. Please keep using her. She asks great questions, rotates around the room, keeps the conversation moving and genuinely seems engaged and interested in the answers.
47:07 I bet Billy Porter was giving that look to Hugh Grant during the whole interview
lol i thought the same thing
Probably. Lol. He is one of those people you literally have no idea what's going to come out of their mouths. It's normally funny, but it may be slightly inappropriate. 😭😭😭
Billy Porter doesn't understand British humor
I am so grateful for Billy's presence in Hollywood right now ❤️
After watching the first episode of Pose I had to google him and find out who the heck is this marvelous man...in my head he and I are friends.
I find him a bit annoying.
The Tragic Master Too bad.
Came for Richard, stayed for Hugh and Billy.
This makes me love Richard even more
