An important takeaway from this video is about using Ryzen master to see what AUTO values actually are and entering them into the BIOS because a reboot may set then differently and your OC could become unstable
I bought two of these kits to run 4 stick in dual rank with a MSI x570 Tomahawk & 5600X. I got them running 14-8-13-11-30 and used all the other timings seen in this video but with lower voltages. They passed 830% coverage in Memtest Pro with no errors. I'm really happy with the results, thanks Buildzoid.
@Manuel G damn son. Win the lottery much? I mean granted my kit is 3200 cl14 stock so I kinda had to bump a bit, makes more sense dropping frequency from stock kit from this video
@Manuel G no, this kit is rated for cl19 @ 1.45V... My 3200cl14 g.skill 2x 16Gb kit can hit the same timings @ 3800 (actually my timings are a bit better). This is a good kit but not any better than a g.skill 3200cl14, you should get whatever is cheaper.
@@deminybs my new 2x16Gb 3200cl14 could make the same timings @3800 @1.5V as this Patriot 4400, the manufacturing process is just more mature at this end of the DDR4 cycle.

I love this memory; I bought 2 2x8 kits of it for my x570 aorus elite on a 3800x. It's a shame they won't boot at anything over 3600mhz but at cl14 I can't complain

I picked up the 4000 CL19 (b-die) version of this kit 4x8gb on a C6H with a 3800X. Running it at 3800CL16 with fast timings at 1.35v 1:1:1 1.05v soc. Not bad for X370 and 4 sticks. I just wish they had a temperature sensor. I paid £100 per kit off Overclockers.co.uk so £200 for 32gb 4 dimms of b-die, insane value. They replaced my G.Skill Trident Z 3200CL14 kit

Here I am at 6:00 am watching AHO's second video featuring the CL 19 19 19 39 ViperSteel memories and, after listening being soo bold about them for nearly 90 minutes, I just had to "buy now" a pair; after testing, hopefully, I;ll try to score the second one. Wat to go!!!!
Got 4 sticks of these and they're running at 3800 MHz 14-15-13-21 on an MSI x570 Unify. Wanted to say thanks for the video, it was enormously useful as I started at your OC and then tightened from there following your advice. @@raceace5793 Yup, running great more than a year later. I used the timings from this video. Here're my notes on those: imgur.com/xtXu5QZ I had to reduce Vsoc to 1.0V because 1.15 was preventing mem OC on my GPU over PCIe 4.0. bz mentions this as a possible side effect in the video, so no surprise there. @@gitv1ld hi would you mind rewriting the values I can’t seem to make them out. I’m new to pc and have a solid set up and want to run your settings if your still using them
Just for future reference: The infinity fabric does have a error correction system, which can degrade performance when overused. Usually you can see that with perfomance degradation in Linpack and with Whea 19 warnings in the Event Viewer.
Regarding replacing AIDA, would you consider DRAM CALCULATOR MemTest tab as an option. I believe it is an automated routine of what you already do. And it has memory latency tests too as well as inter CCC/CCD latency tests too

I just ordered up sum of this memory, well the 4000 set, I was glad to run across this video, i was debating buying 2 sets. I'm running the same board X570GL and a 5950X, with a 3090FTW3, dual custom loop. CPU clocks really well with CTR-2.1, 5.0ghz single core, games at 4.8 and runs Prime95 short ftt's @ 4.5ghz
yay, memory overclocking, my favorite. I'd order a set of this kit but I already have the stupid expensive 8gbx4 3600 cl14 from gskill and my old 16gbx2 3200 cl14 overclocks better than my more expensive kit. Getting 1t stable 3600 cl15 apparently performs better than tuned 3600 cl14 stuck at gear down mode 1t or hard 2t
couldnt aggree more on the "flat loadline bad" thing. i was all for flat before but after trying the setting a notch or 2 below flat i saw big differences. that and the ac\dc loadline. i just use gigabyte preset of power savings on a 9900k. also the power of....well power limits. and tjmax. my 9900k is set up at 5ghz all core with 150-170 power limits and tjmax set all the way down to 80c. perfect setup for a daily driver. CB runs at 1.2v (the old style voltage sensor, not even the newer, lower one). avx loads run at 1.25-1.27 ish? (i use auto with offset) and if the cpu gets above 80 or the pl gets crossed for too long then it throttles back to 4.8-4.9 for those long duration loads. at these settings this cpu should last forever but i still get 5ghz gaming\general use performance but long, intensive workloads throttle back just a bit.
You ever have the issue where you get a crash with new timings, but then after clrcmos, going to the last known STABLE (passes memtest) bios preset won't post? Then if I go in and manually enter all the same settings, it works fine. I have almost identical setup with tomahawk and 3900xt, same mem kit.
Chili Cheeto yeah dude, I think it’s just a bug in MSI’s bios. I would up taking a video of all the bios pages after I got a stable OC. Haven’t touched it since

BurnMMX + Memtest at the same time is pretty darn good at shaking out instabilities. BurnMMX thrashes the CPU memory controller; if it can handle that and still not have memory errors, it'll be fine. Also a good way to test your CPU cooler.
Also idk but wouldn't small fft almost entirely stress the CPU as it can stay in cache? I would think larger would stress memory more. Now that I think, is that why transients are so bad around 192k? The cpu has to stop and wait for memory? Just my psuedo intellectual thoughts for the day
@Actually Hardcore Overclocking i gotta amend my assessment of the aorus z390 pro, i was happy with the board but a bit disappointed with ram clocking but once i gave up on greater than 3600 i really liked it. 3600 15-15-15- was easy as pie to get and at a fairly low 1.38v ddr voltage and low SA and IO and at 1t CR. with a cheap 100 dollar team group 3200 kit of b-die. im pretty sure itll do it with 4 sticks as well. i couldnt really ask for more. i might try for 14 but i know itll take more voltage than i want and its not worth it. but dual rank 32gb at 3600 cl 15 sounds really good to me

I would really like to know how much the latency helps with games. I would assume your setup with PBO would just be enough to give better 1080p ultra results than 9900KS. But the more important question here is that you have essentially the lowest possible latency, so it would be really interesting to see where the limits go in performance for 3950X. Any popular game would do, Assassin's Creed Odyssey would be the best example I know, but any game or even benchmarks would be nice to see.
From what I've seen, the 9900KS still beats the 3950X in most games even when the latter has optimized RAM. LTT did a video comparing the two and the Intel chip was 5-10% faster in gaming even in GPU bound scenarios

My Ryzen 9 3900 can't do 1900 FLCK and it cannot do uclk=memclk at 1866 (I need uclck=memclk/2 to boot at all), but my 4 Dimms (same as in the video) can boot 3733 at 16-15-15-25 TRC 40, TRFC 320, 1T. (Gear Down Mode enabled, that's why 16 and not 15). I can actually boot and run windows at 14-14-14-21-35 but I get a lot of mem errors in (just only) one of 14 open memtest tabs (at 2048 MB each). Booting with one value at 13 does not work :( Most of the secondary & Tertiary timings are on Auto and when I tried to set some of them 1 below the auto adjusted value, it won't boot at all. So I am amazed that my MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max could tighten the timings on Auto for me, nearly to the max. FYI, they are not very close to AHOCs 300-12-4-8-4-4-10-16-12-1 sadly Memory currently runs at 1,48V. I tried 1,45V; 1,5V, it does not make any difference at all in Prime95 or memtest (and different timings of course). I might try 1,45V or lower again to see if I can reduce the heatouput a little bit, since my case is stuffed with SSDs/HDDs and the airflow is ... lacking. VDDG voltages are just as in the video, might fiddle around with them as well. I wonder if I can adjust them via the Ryzen Master tool. Does it override BIOS entries realiably?

An important takeaway from this video is about using Ryzen master to see what AUTO values actually are and entering them into the BIOS because a reboot may set then differently and your OC could become unstable
I bought two of these kits to run 4 stick in dual rank with a MSI x570 Tomahawk & 5600X. I got them running 14-8-13-11-30 and used all the other timings seen in this video but with lower voltages.
This is a good kit but not any better than a g.skill 3200cl14, you should get whatever is cheaper.

yay, memory overclocking, my favorite.
Yes, 1T is always faster than 1N or 2T, because bursts are faster.
I'm pretty sure a part of cinebench scores going up as you run it multiple times is that the caches get loaded up with data from it.
well yes but it also randomly drops at times
The pcie line speed will drop to 3.0 when the SOC voltage is more then 1.1V
Have you tested the 1900 FCLK still work in 1.1V?
Have you tried the team group xtreem 4133mhz cl18-18-18-38 kits?
couldnt aggree more on the "flat loadline bad" thing. i was all for flat before but after trying the setting a notch or 2 below flat i saw big differences. that and the ac\dc loadline. i just use gigabyte preset of power savings on a 9900k. also the power of....well power limits. and tjmax. my 9900k is set up at 5ghz all core with 150-170 power limits and tjmax set all the way down to 80c. perfect setup for a daily driver.
BurnMMX + Memtest at the same time is pretty darn good at shaking out instabilities. BurnMMX thrashes the CPU memory controller; if it can handle that and still not have memory errors, it'll be fine. Also a good way to test your CPU cooler.
Is it worth running a waterblock on these?

Would these do 3600 CL13 or CL12 at a sane voltage? I don't really care about bandwidth.
Are any of the new sticks as good as the one you got to 4174 c12?
Also idk but wouldn't small fft almost entirely stress the CPU as it can stay in cache? I would think larger would stress memory more. Now that I think, is that why transients are so bad around 192k? The cpu has to stop and wait for memory? Just my psuedo intellectual thoughts for the day
How do you set the OC CPU that you have such a nice result in CB 20 over 10,000?
Cache letancy matters more than the speed?

13:45 wait what? I get 30 Gbyte/s with triple channel ddr3 2000Mhz Cl9-9-9-24. Does that mean I messed up? That's not even close to what I'd expect with your formula O.o Or is the Xeon X5675's IMC that limited?

My Ryzen 9 3900 can't do 1900 FLCK and it cannot do uclk=memclk at 1866 (I need uclck=memclk/2 to boot at all), but my 4 Dimms (same as in the video) can boot 3733 at 16-15-15-25 TRC 40, TRFC 320, 1T. (Gear Down Mode enabled, that's why 16 and not 15).
I can actually boot and run windows at 14-14-14-21-35 but I get a lot of mem errors in (just only) one of 14 open memtest tabs (at 2048 MB each).
Booting with one value at 13 does not work :(
Most of the secondary & Tertiary timings are on Auto and when I tried to set some of them 1 below the auto adjusted value, it won't boot at all. So I am amazed that my MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max could tighten the timings on Auto for me, nearly to the max. FYI, they are not very close to AHOCs 300-12-4-8-4-4-10-16-12-1 sadly
Memory currently runs at 1,48V.

@@TheOdsystem yes I've run them at 3800mhz but keep it at 3600 for my daily.
I tried dram calculator fast settings for 3800 at 1.5v and i think i had to tweak a couple things, but it worked but i don't think it was 100% stable. But i did not get deep into tweaking secondary voltages. I tried auto subtimings with cas 16 (16-16-16-16-36-52 i think... Maybe ...38-56), but i just daily a lazy 3600 timing because overwatch crashed on me and i can't have that. But some more time/skill (and maybe dram silicon lottery) might yield better results.
Kind of the same story for 3600 cas 14 (14-14-14-14...), don't think i ever got it 100% stable. Tried dram calc fast settings which i think gives u a 14-15 mix, but for me at least on the asus board, or for these particular sticks, there was always a couple subtimings that dram calc chose that the system didn't like. In that case u can identify them and set them to auto, which is sometimes significantly higher, or manually tweak them. Otherwise those settings were stable.
I'm still open to tips and would like to spend more time tweaking for those absolute best settings. But regardless they're good sticks, would recommend. They also have a slightly higher rated speed not for not much more... Don't know if they'd do any better timings wise at 3800mhz. Also for slightly more money u have the team group ram kits that are well regarded.

i have 2 nvme drives atm il swap them over. also got a new 2tb ss 970 ssd for it,
i got a 1000w corsair psu
i went with 2 rads not 3 so i can have both rads pulling in, this left the top and rear clear for exhaust fans.

im REALLY happy with the cable management!! almost all cabling is fitted in the pics and its really neat thanks to the depth of the side section
ps the phanteks am4 block got the best thermal results (as did the ek xe360mm rads) so i went for them and noctua nfa12 fans
Another awesome video. I could only get my 3950x to 3733mhz cl14. Can you do some ccx individual ratio overclocking please?
What jour settinh i have 3950x and b550 tomahawk it's not bootable
So one pair of these sticks (4400 vipers) are dual rank not single?
Yes, dual channel, single rank
Corsair 4266 c19 vs 3600 c16. Based on ur formula 4266/19
Pricing fluctuates based on demand and location. Where I'm at, 3600 cl16 is like $40/stick more than 4400 cl19.
The higher frequency is also "better" to the layperson. I've seen people throw 3600mhz ram in a system and talk about how their system feels faster, and when I look at their specs they didn't even enable xmp so they're running JDEC 2133.
@@Hotrob_J LOL. Thanks !
Keep calm and raise voltage
Is there any benefit of sub zero cooling ram with a chiller?
A lot of B-die gets extremely upset if gets too cold. and for a lot sticks too cold is anything bellow 20C.
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking I can't speak to a wide variety of ddr4 sticks, but with my tridentz bdie, I didn't have any issues at -5C to 10C. Depending on the board, voltage, speed and timings I did see issues due to heat at 20C and 28-30C. (DDR4 voltage was at 1.536v @3800 CL14)
You should see the massive fan I have blowing on the entire motherboard. ROFL!
Bought this and it won't do cl14 3800mhz, it can't do cl15 either because it can't do 1T timing. It can hower do 16-15-12-13-26-38-290 4000 mhz but my 5800x keeps throwing WHEAs in occt if set fclk to 2000mhz. Even with voltage as high as 1.175. I think there's much less errors if I turn on chipset fan which drops chipset temps from 62 to 48. So what do I do? What speed do I run it on?
never mind it can do 3800mhz 14-8-15-13-27, had to raise VDIMM to 1.55v
ive gotten a set of hyperX 3466 cl16 micron J die downbin. ran out the box with a r5 1600 af on xmp 1 for 3466.....80 bucks for this 2x8 kit! memtest showed 1 error...
your 1600's IMC probably can't do 3466. I doubt the kit is faulty
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking it's running stable all day everyday.
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking memtest showing 1 error on cpu side. But aida and Occt never crash. The board supports it on 12nm chips. The board I have. With this exact kit.
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking is me having that 1 error a bad thing?? please elaborate.
So wait this RAM will work and clock to 3600 cl14 with 2 sets purchased seperately? (two 16gb kits for 4x8 32gb setup?)
You have a very good shot at hitting 4200mhz depending on the kits. If you get two kits, you'll still need to bin them starting low and going up in speed. I had two kits of 3866 a nd they clocked fine but one kept failing training so sent that kit back for a refund. The kits are ridiculous most of the time.
I have an r5 3600 that runs 1900mhz. This memory would rock if I could get the same timings
id love to run above 1800mhz, do you have any suggestions to achive this? i have this mem kit rn on a 3600 at 4.5, the mem is running 3600mhz fclck 1800mhz 14-14-14-14-29. i want to run 3733 or 3800 15-14-14-14-30.
a) Its possible to add own timings to that (frankly quite stupid) MSI GameBoost Knob thing?
b) What would be the a good 64 Gb Kit latency wise with a 3950 ?
just pretend the gameboost knob doesn't exist. I've not tested any 64GB kits so I have no idea.
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking fair enough. thank you for the answer!
Do I need a fan if I just straight up using these with Intel on 4400 XMP?
whats the sweetspot between mhz and timings for games?
This isn't a great question by itself. Long and short is get high speed and low timings with 1 to 1 mode infinity fabric and set those tertiary timings. Your mileage will vary. Just punching in timings doesn't guarantee stability or performance increase.
@Mirsad Redzovic already bought this 4400 kit, also the rumour is that the new ryzens may oc the inf fabric to 2ghz. that would allow 4ghz ram speed, and yeh il tighten the timings up if i can aswell
Is it better to buy 2x16 kits if I want 32GB RAM?
you typically always get better results with FEWER DIMMS - the more dimms you have, the harder it is to reach stability - but then the price goes up considerably - Patriot has some of the best performance for dollar - Crucial is and has always been very compatible and their pricing is very fair
Is this memory set a good fit for a more budget build with R5 or R7 processor and B450 motherboard?
Or is it just an overkill?
I'd say it's kinda overkill for that.
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking As in, the performance boost won't be worth extra cost, or the processor/motherboard combo can't utilize the potential of this kit very well?
I'm mostly wondering about price/performance balance.
@@Derael Depending on the motherboard and CPU I'd upgrade those and get a cheaper memory kit instead. But if the board and CPU are good and there's nothing else you want to add to the system the kit can make sense.
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking Is there a good reason to get X570 over good B450 motherboard nowadays? I watched your earlier videos, and I got an impression that X570 isn't really worth it unless going for R9, but maybe the situation has changed now.
As for R9, it's obviously great, but it's quite a big price jump over R5 and R7, especially in my country, where you have to pay 30% tax on imported products for price difference over 100€, so the value/money aspect is particularly bad for that one.
BTW, thanks for the great vids, even though I'm not doing any overclocking right now, they are still interesting to watch.
@@ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking i got this exact kit running 14-14-14-14-29 @3600mhz fclock 1800. i cant seem to boot above 1800mhz, id like to try 1866 so i can run 3733 at 1:1 15-14-14-14-30. any suggestions?
Can this kit be "over"/underclocked to something like 3200Mhz CL14 to run with a 2700X ?
yes
