    The mean reason that pushes me to do some research on motherboard VRM, which lead me this channel, is because some of my code might utilize avx512 and I would have to run linpack to both check performance and stability, so im happy to see that you did the linpack stress test since it really puts a huge load on the system. Although in order to use avx512 instruction set im still on my X299. Great video as usual though.

    I duplicated everything except a few things my more recent build of the MSI Click Bios 5 changed. The command rate of choices of 1T and 2T were replaced with Auto, 1N, 2N, 3N, N:1, and Real 1N. Not knowing the difference, I selected 2N hoping it was the equivalent of 2T. Down the line MSI included a few extra choices in the sub-timing configuration such as: tWR_MR, tRTP_MR, tCWL_MR, and tCCD_L_MR....which I left on Auto and hoped for the best. Userbenchmark finally stopped saying the 4x8GB Patriot Viper Steel Series 4400MHz RAM scored below potential. The score of the i9-10900K hit 108% (99th percentile), the RTX 2080Ti score dipped so I had to do another MSI Afterburner scan and apply the curve thing again to achieve a score of 203% (97th percentile), the Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVMe 1TB hit 354% (78 percentile) and the Patriot Viper Steel Series DDR4 16GB (4 x 8GB) 4400MHz score hit 140% (92 percentile). MSI Kombustor scored 5630 points (93 FPS) Those numbers sure sound nice but I never had any issues other than Userbenchmark saying the RAM scored below potential. The MSI MEG Z490 Godlike won't boot with either of the XMP profiles selected but does with the changes outlined in the video. Only problem is, Call of Duty: Warzone will freeze starting about the 3rd game. When it froze a popup said: DEV error 6037. [MP_aw_attachment_wm_elo_t901_l0d1_s2_l22_tr_ff} support/activision. A few sites said the issue was memory. I reduced all the game settings to the bare minimum but it didn't help. Now I should say I duplicated all the settings once before a few weeks back and the same freezing happened so I had to revert to the original "optimized" settings to play the game. Today I revisited to try again and the same freezing is happening. Any ideas? When it froze, the FPS said 180, latency 31ms, GPU temp 63, GPU time 4ms, CPU time 5ms.

      im having same issues as u i copied all the exact same setting for oc in this video aswell i play warzone and it crashes after 15mins of play im thinking its a memory issue aswell maybe it doesnt like 4266mhz because ive played with 4400mhz npz

      The only stable settings I got are same as in video but on 4000mhz, txp-4, trefi to the max, cl16-16-16-36
      Trtp 6, twr 12
      If you get warzon crashed then you dont have stable overclock on memory. Had facing same issue. The best way to test stability is 2 hour anta777 but with gpu load at the same time (furmark or aida64 gpu stress). Until you dont stress gpu with ram at the same time, your overclock is absolutely useless. Gpu making your ram temp up by 3-4c at least which destroys overclock. BZ just overclocking ram for fun with 120mm fan on sticks. His OC will never work in real scenarios

    I have 32 gb of this memory and that same setup, but with a Gigabyte Z390 Master, and with both XMP it was really unstable and had errors (even unzipping files), until I went to advanced memory settings and turned something to "enhanced performance". Now it's running at 4266 MHZ, still haven't tried 4400 again. The benchmark results greatly improved from my 3200 MHZ GSkill.

    @Actially Hardcore Overclocking
    the main reason that causing your bad memory latency is an auto RTL/IOL. Set your RTL INIT value to 67 (for cl16 -67, cl17 - 69 etc) and look at your ASRTC readings. You should have something like 58/60/6/6/ or 60/62/7/7/ or something around that. This massively affects memory latency results and ALSO affects real world performance like gaming etc.
    Also i don't know how does it names in z490 msi's bioses, but you should turn on Latency Timing Optimization option (should be somewhere in Turn Around Timing Setting Mode graph)

    tREFI is set so there are 8192 refreshes in 64 ms, aka 7.8125 us. Most documentation will truncate that to 7.8 us, but that number of refreshes can be divided down to 1/8th the count so I’d keep it a base 2, multiple of 8.

    Very good stuff. I would recommend that you turn back case fan to intake if you run AIO or Custom loop. It will cool VRM, Socket, RAM, and GPU backplate. Then there is no need for a random fan in the case that is blowing on memory. Ofc you wouldn't turn it to intake if you have Air cooler, but then if you are on Air you wouldn't push your system that hard.

    The 12/11/2020 Click Bios 5 has the EIST and Intel Turbo boost greyed out like yours but mine is set to enabled while yours is disabled. MSI added something called Intel Turbo Boost Max technology 3.0, which is enabled by default and says disabling will report the maximum ratio from CPPC. The CPU lite load mode 1 is greyed out on yours while my default was mode 8 and changeable. Says higher mode loads the higher CPU voltage that could "stablize" the system. RUclips thinks stablize is incorrect but that's what the BIOS says.

    im just so happy to see that BZ finally relies on linpack for stress testing....this has become the norm for eastern asian overclockers for the past "like 5 years or so."
    linpack is the norm in eastern asia for stress testing because it stresses both memory and cpu to the threshold which doesnt interpret daily usage loads for overclocks, but its extremely reliable (in terms of stability) for daily usage if passed.
    Korean overclockers disagree with derbauers FFT testing method of prime95 w/o avx coz it doesnt push the cpu to the limit often...and a ton of games nowadays support AVX and actually has AVX workloads (ex: PUBG)....i mean whats the point of testing for stability with no AVX prime workloads if the game ur playing has an AVX workload which will eventually downclock ur CPU to like -3x or -2x of clock ratio (ex: if u get an avx workload of 4.8ghz) totally pointless.....typical EU bias..... not knowing what most ppl play competitively nowadays....
    .im just happy that BZ is sort of giving a shoutout to this testing method (which is extremely reliable)
    p.s: Korean overclocking norm is like 10+ passes in linpack with maximum memory usage + testmem 500%~1000% passes in all workloads (depending on ur cpu thread count....u dont consider urself overclock stable if u dont pass this guideline
    Koreans dont consider AIDA 64 stress testing or prime95 FFT-set NON AVX workloads a standard for overclocks

    • @thomasni123

      I use Linpak overnight and Prime95 Blend for another overnight test to verify CPU stability. It's worked well so far.

    • @XDbored1
      @XDbored1 4 года назад

      ofc non AVX testing is useless for stress testing but for derbauer he probably just cares if its safe to run his overclocking utilities in windows
      P95 with the right fft settings and AVX2 has bigger transients then Linpack which makes it better at quickly finding core instability and setting a minimum stable voltage i find anything that does all core AVX2 FFT-224 run in place longer then 3 minutes is pretty dam stable and setting ideal core clocks/voltage and XMP is about as far as most people go so P95 is very useful
      you only need to run Linpack and memtest for hours when you run your cache/memory/timings on edge and one of them is intermittently screwing up every 400% coverage or so

    • @ashz2913

    • @ActuallyHardcoreOverclocking

    Warzone is now freezing near the very end of the first game so I changed all the sub timings back to auto and the new fatal error is a Disc read error [3.1] but I don't have a disc. Game repair found no issues and a complete game reinstall didn't fix anything either so I'm back to the standard "optimized" BIOS settings (MSI MEG Z490 Godlike MS-7C710 BIOS 12/11/2020 VCore .996V, DDR Voltage 1.204V, Intel i9-10900K@3.70GHz, Patriot Viper Steel 4x8GB 4400MHz DDR speed 2133MHz. The standard "optimized" timing reads 15,15,15,36,374 but Userbenchmark says "below expectations" so I'll select "lucky Mode" because it says: may enhance overclocking ability. Another issue about the settings in the video...the iCUE lighting turned somewhat static and didn't follow what the software said was happening but the BIOS reset brought it back. Probably had an issue with the voltage settings. Lastly, any changes made in the MSI Click Bios 5 always required another MSI Afterburner scan and application of the curve or UserBenchMark will report the GPU is below potential.

    I have a ryzen 1700 and I am running 32 gb on 2 sticks on a x370. It is a tridenz CL14 3200 kit.
    When I OC it to that speed, it passes cinebench and mem test (0 errors in 8 hours, thou ONLY with very specific settings, if I get the setings slightly off, it willl give out errors, mostly the biggest impact is the procODT and the VDDP).
    But if I run Overwatch (the game) it will crash in game once every 3 games.
    Have you ever encountered a RAM oc taht would be stable in memtest and cinebench (btw it was also ok with intel burn test) but crash in 1 specifica application?
    The CPU is OCed as well, at 3.8, 1.35V.
    I ask because I am kinda running the ram at 2133 since I do play overwatch from time to time and I dont want to be constantly changeing the OC settings.
    System is win7.

Most of my testing for ram are on intel's platform since they got more document and support. When it comes to QA & compatibility stuffs, intel and Nvidia are just far more reliable since they've spent way more time and resource on their software and library, so there are good amount of information that are available compared to AMD.

      Technically you're not guaranteed 2 stick kits to run at xmp even with increased voltages as dual rank puts more strain on the memory controller. But even in saying that I was getting game crashes with just 2 sticks at 4400mhz xmp timings @1.5 volts. And oddly enough they passed stress tests for hours at a time but some games and applications crashed them anyway. I also never bothered to figure out what was actually stable with 2 sticks but in the case of 4 sticks I can't really get them stable past 4000mhz at all.
      Not sure if my bios version has compatibility issues, my memory controller sucks, or I lost the silicone lottery somewhere. Could also be one or more of the sticks was sold as 4400mhz even though its the 4000 variant. Too lazy to test at this point.
