  • Zinc Deficiency | Dietary Sources, Causes, Signs & Symptoms (ex. Hair Loss), Diagnosis, Treatment
Zinc is an essential element required for human health, being utilized for nearly 100 different enzymes for a wide variety of functions, including developmental, reproductive and immune system functioning. Zinc deficiency can occur through several mechanisms, including reduced dietary intake, reduced absorption, increased utilization and increased losses. In this lesson, we discuss these causes in more detail, along with signs and symptoms of zinc deficiency (including anxiety, depression, skin lesions like acne, and hair loss), how it is diagnosed and how it is treated.

I’ve suffered form decades without knowing what was wrong with me. I went to multiple doctors and specialists and they knew nothing. After going down a rabbit hole of learning online, I literally figured out on my own issue… I was zinc deficient and now I’m back to normal.

Personally I would like to add one serious problem and clinical point linked to my zinc deficiency. After 20 years of lack of sweating combined with overheating and unpleasant flu like symptoms after heat exposition. Luckily after a zinc deficiency treatment for night blindness quality of life was found after 20 years no doctor would recognise the heat problem and lack of sweating.

It's a misconception that vegetarians have zinc deficiency. I am a vegetarian and do a no gluten diet and since then I have not been sick and it's been 4 years. There are foods high in zinc that are not of animal source such as grains like brown rice, buckwheat, quinoa, nuts such as walnuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds. Beans, legumes and lentils. Seafood would be another good one but it's high in mercury.

I became Celiac when i was a vegetarian and i rely on wheat and porridge. Me health deteriorate so much that i can hardly walk. I could not consume nuts peanuts, walnuts because i would cover in dermatitis. I cut wheat all together and i consume all kind of legumes, meat, fish, veggies, fruits but home made food legumes, just water tea, and natural grain coffee. I don´t drink milk or cheese due to the Casein (protein in milk) and lactose that make feel sick with diarrheas' and digested problems. . I do feel great and i am 67 and i don't consume sugar or prosed food.

Here's my story; I just recently lost most of my natural teeth, so I now wear full dentures. I started using Fixodent liberally to hold them iny mouth, and in a few months started to develop all the symptoms. I went to my primary doctor, did a bunch of tests and was prescribed Nexium and some other stuff. Symptoms persisted, until one day I was just sitting there, pondering. Just left the Army, aside from my teeth no health issues to speak of, don't even drink alcohol. So I pick up the Fixodent box and notice a tiny warning on it; Contains zinc. Not for prolonged use. I thought to myself, how can this not be for prolonged use, if it's supposed to be a daily denture adhesive? But oh well.
So, the mystery was solved. I had been poisoning myself. Stopped using it just today. Let's see what happens .

Bad dreams, poor sleep, body changes into a tree trunk shape, loss of hair. Worst lie that its a helpful med. Its a steroid that humans should never take!! Note: you are never to take it longer than 6weeks. Longer than that? You have a money hungry drug pusher for fake dr treating you. 2nd opinion immediately! I kid you not.

Physical chemical and emotional stress on the body can actually reduce the absorption rate of all nutrients including zinc this is why when you drink a lot of caffeine or energy drinks your body will actually burn through zinc in a much faster rate because the metabolism is moving faster. Or you have constant pain your stomach slows down and your intestines slow down because of all of this on top of that if you're an asthmatic your intestines aren't getting enough oxygen because of your asthma and this can cause acid to fall down into your small intestines because there are two muscles at the base and at the top of the stomach when you have asthma these muscles stop functioning because they're not getting enough air through the blood because the body is not circulating enough oxygen. This can cause acid to go up in your windpipe and into your small intestines this can also cause zinc deficiency really the best thing for the human body is a low-stress environment. Plenty of exercise and sleep my goodness sleep is so important people have to get sleep and not just a couple of minutes of sleep I mean a deep sleep. The problem is the US diet sucks people don't get enough nutrients in their diet so their body breaks down in a much faster rate than it should and its really unhealthy for me I have two jobs. One is in a hospital. The other one is a computer repairman in engineer so I have to constantly work like crazy I developed a zinc deficiency because of all of the energy drinks I was drinking I was burning through my nutrients to quickly so what I started to do was at all my electrolytes and vitamins in a powder form into my Waters so whenever I would fill up a water I would constantly be drinking my nutrients. This helped a lot and it made me less irritable and actually allowed me to sleep deeper. Just I warn you if you're going to do that make sure you understand what you're doing. Because the tap water wer drinking. Has had all of the electrolytes and nutrients stripped out and it has hydrofluoride which is a acidic property. And is not healthy for the body so if you decide to add these nutrients to your water just understand how much you're going to need and how much water you're going to drink. But it works well also you need copper without copper your body cannot absorb vitamin D3 zinc all trace minerals if you don't have copper then it's not going to matter
