Scotty Kilmer hey Scotty what do you think of a 2012 Jeep Liberty Kk I seen one with a 3.7L for sale 6000$ with 68k miles are those engines reliable I heard they have valve seat drops?
Scotty Kilmer I have a 2013 Rav 4 with 125k miles and no issues but the transmission fluid hasn’t been touched at all. Would it be too late to replace the transmission fluid or would you recommend it? I’ve been hearing mixed things and unfortunately I can’t check the transmission fluid since there’s no dipstick.
My 2001 GMC is the best vehicle I have ever owned . I bought it new and have worked it hard for 19 years. Heavy towing and hauling. 237,000 miles and still going strong.
GMT800s are built like tanks. My friend used to have a 2002 Tahoe and they are very reliable and the seats are super comfortable. Hopefully, GMT800 Silverados, Tahoes, Sierras, Yukons, Suburbans, and Hummer H2s become highly desirable in the future.
Happened to me on a mk6 gti. Learned my lesson. Now I’m in a class action lawsuit awaiting payment for defective timing chain tensioner that took out the engine. Scotty doesn’t lie about VW
I'm perfectly happy with my fifty year old GMC pickup. Haven't seen a car payment for forty-eight years, and always get love from other motorists and youngsters. Easy and cheap to repair and maintain, too.
Way to go, you know that when something needs replacing you do it then or things will mount up and you get overwhelmed. How many miles on it? I have a 02 Tacoma that I'll never sell, just plan to keep on rolling.
I've owned 3 Sierras all with the 5.3 AFM. 2009, 2013 and 2017. Ran the first 2 to 200,000km and only had to change the oil. This current one has 100,000km and only now doing rear brake pads. The 2009 had a main seal start to seep (a drop per week below the bell housing) at around 150,000km, but I towed a 8000lb 30ft travel trailer across the continent and back, twice. I honestly can't complain about my Sierras. I've gotten 24 MPG on the highway with all 3 (with stock tires, not my 33' AT's) Must be lucky.
Remember people, Scotty has access to professional forums and chats that confirm his positions on the shortcomings of most vehicles. He is not being negative. He is disseminating facts that 99.9% of us would never see. Scotty thanks for sharing the behind the scenes facts that the manufacturers, marketers and media wouldn't tell us.
Excellent assessment of Scotty I'm right there with you. He simply calls it EXACTLY how he's seen it with 52 years of real world experience under his belt! If GM all of a sudden becomes consistently good reliable dependable and quality driven based on the data and what he sees in his shop every week, then thats exactly what he will report to us! But that's on GM to change our opinion of them which is based solely off of what they have shown...consistently!
I really appreciate this channel. Like Scotty, I keep vehicles for better than a decade. Current is an early 2000's pickup. Still my daily ride and besides brakes, wipers, fluids, etc only replaced a heater core tube. (200K miles) I know I'll need to move this to a backup vehicle soon. Really want to find something dependable without the use of a TV screen in it.
@@dronepilotflyby9481 if you are looking for another truck I would strongly recommend a used Tundra. I have a friend with a 2007 with 568k on it with the 4.7 liter V8. They are so reliable dependable and easy to maintain. They don't get great gas mileage but they more than make up for that with minimal maintenance and zero projected breakdowns based on the data out there. 3 mpg better than a Toyota Tundra sounds great until you are in the repair shop 2 times a year or more consistently.
“You might as well buy a good car instead of leasing a crappy car!” See, this is why you watch Scotty videos till the very end because you never know what final pearl of wisdom he’ll sneak in. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
@@benitojr468 Not really. At the dealerships, the service advisors LOVE Dodge, Chrysler, RAM cause they are in the shop so much...they get commission off the warranty work and customer pay.
I absolutely love Scotty. I lost a dear friend two years ago that was a superb mechanic AND many of the things he said and promoted were virtually identical to Scotty. Listening to Scotty is like listening to my friend again. My friend used to say that buying a new car is one of the WORST investments that one can make. For one thing, depending on the make and model, one can lose 10-20% of the purchase price just driving it off of the dealer's lot. He used to call cars "consumables". They wear out and depreciate year by year. I learned from him how to make a car or truck last and last. I have a couple of vehicles with 200K+ miles and still going strong. Long live Scotty!!!
I had my first GMC Sierra HD, 2004 LML, for 14 years. Put 250K miles on it. Flawless. Didn’t even have a lightbulb fail. My 2020 GMC AT4 HD Has 14K on it. Fantastic truck. My experience is different.
Me too. Brand new Silverado back in 2016. First two days motor mounts were bad. Had to take it in 3 times until they finally changed them instead of “adjusting”. Then the last year I had it which was most of 2019 it would shake and pull at a red light after getting off the freeway and motor would Knock for a few seconds then stop...first gm purchase and definitely my last...I should have stuck to Toyota
I wonder why I've never had any issues with any of my chevys and I do beat on them, but every one I know who has bought an f150 has had nothing but issues 🤔
Very true also those Duramaxes are beasts of an engine , my Dad has an LBZ Sierra Dually that I daily drive to work hauling a 16’ trailer loaded with tools and runs amazing
It's a half century old practice--just toss some different looking cheesy chrome plastic at it and call it a new model yr....your neighbors will know it's new, that's what matters. :D
Haha yeah I remember the first time I saw a truck commercial entirely focus on cameras, thought of that. I'll never forget a co-worker with a Cadi XTS asking me about several things eventually $5000 of work. He had as each problem surfaced inquired at the dealership 16k on it and 2 years old. They quoted him the prices well then the last thing went and it needed to hit the dealership. Luckily his son took it in and asked and watched them check in the computer warranty coverage. They were going to let the father either pay them or another mechanic for repairs 100% covered.
No need to upgrade the meat son. The MEAT is that badass LS series motor that powers most all resto-rods, sand cars, wakeboard boats.....shall I go on?!? Oh and lets not forget about Mercruiser boat engines, they're all GM am I wrong? . And dont try and say..."its because GM stuff is cheaper" yeah right whatever.
We own 3 GM vehicles - a 2010 Silverado, a 2015 Malibu, and a 2018 Equinox. They have about 200,000 miles on them collectively. The Silverado has had a couple of batteries and a tire pressure sensor replaced - that's it. The other cars have been perfect - not a single trip to the dealership except for oil changes and tire rotations. I worked at car dealerships in parts and service while working my way through college. I've dealt with all makes, new and used. Every make has it flaws. I like all the new trucks pretty well, but I drive a Chevy. Do this - keep count of the Ford, Chevy, and Dodge trucks you see on the road which are over 15 or 20 years old. You will always count more old Chevy pickups on the road because they simply last longer. Yes, you'll see lots of Toyotas and Nissans too, but they're a different class of truck and we've come to expect them to run forever. One thing is wrong with every new vehicle - pricing.
I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado with 95000 miles on it and I pull a trailer have no problems and I've beat on a daily there's bad and good cars in all the brands..
I have a 2017 Silverado Z71 with the 6.2 Camaro motor, and I love it! My previous truck was a 2007 5.3, that went over 200,000 miles (still ran perfect) and the only things I replaced were the fuel pump, and alternator once. I did have to replace the fuel vapor filter several times, because Chevy located these in an area that would easily get clogged, but they were relatively cheap, and easy to fix. Absolutely great truck, and years later my son is still driving it. Any brand new engine that leaked all the oil out had some human error somewhere. I don’t care how badly it was designed.
but why take the gamble, you pay for basically a house on a new truck and you have to gamble with chances on wether it will hold up or not, so why not go for a company with a better reputation like Toyota or Honda and better your odds of the vehicle you are buying, not being a piece of junk
@@darkmugetsu6572 because I have live long enough to know that if you're going to spend that much money you might as well spend it on something that you likenot drive around in something that you're not satisfied with and it admiring the guy's truck next to you at the stop light..
Scotty, you nailed it. I been doing it 45 years myself. The customer has no idea what we encounter everyday. I guess in the grand scheme of things I am not surprised of the modern day vehicle. We need more general reviews like this. Maybe the consumer will understand why their repair bills are so much.
My 14 gm sierra has 95k miles and its been flawless. Had a 2010 sierra that was flawless Had a 2006 tahoe that was my favorite vehicle ever Had a 2000 tahoe limited that drove like a dream. Never a problem on any.
@@BkGreg considering the fact that he has gone back on his word with so many car brands such as nissan, dodge, Subaru, Kia, and recently Chevrolet. Scotty to me sometimes sounds like a old paranoid mechanic.
Scotty I feel like these are one off chances, I know SO many people in my town that own a 2019-21 Silverados or Sierras with literally little to no issues, especially leaks from the pan.
@@theforestisdark9676 lol no but I just put a deposit at my local dealer for the new ZR2 Silverado so I do quite like Chevy. But I here all kinds of terrible things from STOCK Fords and RAMs that my ranching buddies have, from dozens of recalls to multiple drivetrain failures on their trucks. Just never hear him talking bad about them or at least haven't seen the videos. But it seems like an epidemic of them failing locally.
I have a 2021 trail boss LT less than 10k miles lifters are already shot, my truck has been in the shop 11 days so far so I’m paying a note on a truck I can’t even drive.
At 8:40, Scotty tells it like NO other mechanic on earth would/could. All mechanics can't/won't give ruthless truthful/honest advice like he does. Subscriber for life!
Had my 2019 GMC with a 5.3 for almost a year now. So far so good. My last truck was a 2003 Silverado with a 5.3 with over 200,000 miles. Daughter has it and it's still going.
I had a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 for 5 years with next to no issues. I’ve had my 2019 Silverado 1500 for a couple months now and zero issues. My buddy has had his 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 for 6 years with next to no issues. 🤷🏻♂️
Ford took the money right before the others bc they were paying attention but they still took it. By the time the others did it was called a bailout. They aren’t any better.
Good luck. Your gonna need it. Hate to tell you now. Wish I could have steered you away before you lose so much money and time. If you still have time purchase the extra warranty and lots of it.
I never miss a SavageScotty video but... My 2010 HHR, 2.4 has 178,000 miles. The oil doesn't get dirty between changes. No major problems other than front brake pads and rotors. Runs great and has never failed to start. AC blows cold. I could go on...
I have a 2015 with 209k on it. Never had any issues. Scotty does not realize every brand has its lemons, kind of like mass media. Does not report everything, just what goes along with his opinion.
I don’t know what his confirmation bias is, but my confirmation bias is the opposite on GM - dozens of them and they’ve all been good. Including new ones.
Had many good gm trucks then I bought a 2009 Sierra..worst vehicle ever. Absolute junk. What a waste of time and money. Never again as it always has something broken.
What does he mean, what do I do with it? Take it back to the dealer. That's what warranties are for. If Scotty thinks new GM's are bad, he should look at Ford. I think Ford is trying to set a record for the most lawsuits.
I've been a true gm man my whole life they used to build the best trucks, but sadly there quality control has gone in the dumpster. 5.3 engine that burns 1 liter of oil every 3000km they say that's normal consumption I say that garbage.
I also was a GM man, for fifteen years. 85, 99, 04, 08, and a 16. My 08 burned a quart every thousand miles. Every other GM truck was great, especially my 16HD. Couldn’t take the 8mpg tho. Now I drive Ford, prob not going to look back.
The Toyota dealer told me the same thing when i told them my sr5 pu used a quart of oil with every tank of gas said that was normal never was fixed. Went back to my chevys. Never looked and no regrets.
My brother's first car was a 2006 V8 Ford F-150 for over a decade before it ended up being totaled in a bad ice storm. Fantastic truck! It had over 100,000 miles and it could have gone much longer if it was still around. He hauled tons of things like furniture in it for his job, we used it to move most of our family's stuff to another state and it actually had manual crank windows and mirrors too.
We bought a Toyota mini pickup new in 1977. I did all the engine work on that 22R four-banger. It then went through two sets of neighbors and finally gave up the ghost after almost 300,000 miles.
Our newest GM is a 2011 Chevy HHR 2.2 liter..100,000 original miles no engine problems just maintenance..My 2002 Chevy S10 2.2 liter has 200,000 original miles NO engine problems just maintenance..finally our 2000 E350 FORD 24 ft. RV Ultra Sport V10 60,000 original miles..NO engine problems..👍
To change the timing chain on a motorcycle, you split a link, connect the new chain to the old, slowly roll the motor feeding the new chain thru, then crimp it back together. Same could be done with VW.
I leased a brand new GMC Sierra in 2016, drove it home and at miles 386 the engine blew up. Towed it to the dealer, after discussing the lemon law it miraculously was fixed on day 29. Fast forward to 5k miles and engine blew up again....along with a trans or drivetrain shudder. GMC bought the lease back. Now I drive FORD>>>
I wish I would’ve Heard about this channel before I bought my 2003 Chevy trailblazer Bought it in April 2017 Six months later the transmission went out And it was a tag on the side of the transmission telling me that it was rebuilt back in 2012 Now the engine needs to be rebuilt Bad piston rings Use the four-wheel-drive for the winter time the seals on the front differential went bad couldn’t hold any axle oil and that it needs to be replaced And on the rear differential the possi track is going bad so that needs to be replaced Good thing I can do all the work myself
Maybe not buy a 15 year old car and complain about seals dry rotting? I have an 2003 S10 with 40,000 miles. Was my grandfathers, keep it in my barn and drive occasionally. By just sitting, transmission pan seal and output shaft seal dry rotted. Other than that, no issues and the best riding vehicle I own aside from my 04 Jeep. Cars are only as good as you maintain them and drive them. Jeep is supposed to be garbage? Owned an 04 GC with a 4.7 since brand new, have the car to this day no issues aside from basic wear and tear. Your car is 17 years old they don’t last forever.
@@smileyjjm6437 yes the 4.7l is a good engine as long as you keep up the oil changes and never over heat it. ive seen tons of the 4.7l locked up and it was because they didnt keep up on the maintanace
THEBIGPIMMPIN That is the best viewpoint I have seen. This Jeep has been in my family since I was 5, I am 19 now and it has been mine since 16. Oil changes every 3,000 miles. Just take care of things and they will last.
As a former GM tech, a few guys I worked with bought brand new trucks...few of them less than 700 miles the fuel pumps went. I laughed as my 35 year old, 400k mile 300 inline 6Ford drove home.
I have 295000 miles on my 2007 Silverado, just ordered a 2021 trail boss with the 6.2liter with 10 speed. Hope it's a good one. Won't be here until August or September they said.
99-07 silverados were some of the best ones in my opinion. Still see so many on the road. I wouldn’t buy anything newer just based off what my friends and family have experienced with them. Hope your new truck is good though 6.2 is a awesome motor
It’s one of those things that confuse me. I’ve had a 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE for 6 years and have never had any problems. Has 289,000 on it right now and runs pretty good. I’ve known a few people that have a had issues with their 2016 Sierra’s but once they went to the dealership everything is great now. I’ve also know a lot of people that have had absolutely no problems. But then I see videos like this that say how bad their are. Hopefully everyone having issues gets them fixed and has the truck with no issues. And hopefully no future vehicles will have issues either.
@@n-l1580 GM makes the best trucks. This truck seems to have had a little slip up in manufacturing, doesnt mean they all have this issue. But of course, when scotty says it, they do all have this issue. The ventillators GM is making are inspected by the FDA. No mistakes get past them.
@@andybub45 I mean you figured they would at least drive them a little to see problems they could always reset the odometer and of you say they cant they can they are the manufacturer
2006 silverado with a .600" cam swap and almost 130,000 miles. Runs like a champ. Wife has a 2016 sho taurus with a trans leak and oil leak. Took it to the dealership and they didnt find an oil leak. Brass plug was leaking on trans pan. Hopefully the 20 year old service tech (parts changer) got it fixed.
Bought a 2020 2500 Denali. Within 809 miles there is a loud rod knock. I brought it to the dealer they said iGM engineers told them its “normal”. At 1500 miles brakes were not working proper and power steering was making a loud humming noise. Back to the dealer. The entire brake system has to be replaced due to “metal in the fluid”. The entire power steering system was replaced due to “bad pump and metal in the fluid” . At 6000 miles check engine light is on. To the dealer once again. Replaced 4 or 5 parts. Got home after that “fix” noticed.a new rattle, back to the dealer. They ordered a part said will call when it comes in, still rattling. Got home CALLED A LAWYER! He Took my case and I am getting my money back!! GMC can you say BUY BACK losers !!! The only response from GM corporate was we have chosen to repair your vehicle, well F U GMC!!!
Yup, I'll keep upgrading my 2002 2500hd LB7 Duramax, Built Alison trans, EFI live with DSP-5, 45% over SAC injectors, so they last longer than the original. Next is pull the bed, and por-15 the frame. It hauls my Sled deck, and enclosed snowmobile trailer over Washington state passes, and they've been using more corrosive de-icer over the last 10 years, so handle it before it becomes a problem.
Lucas Clarke True, but some suck much more than others. I’ll take a 12% chance of suckage over a 27% chance of suckage any day. And I think the automakers should be the ones to ‘suck it up,’ not us, the buyers.
My 89 Chevy Cheyenne dually with the SB 350, TBI, and 4 speed tranny is a keeper. 100K with no leaks or oil consumption. Easy to work on and easy to find parts for it. At my age the truck will likely outlive me.
I guess I got lucky. I bought a 2005 Outback XT in 2013 with 149k miles on the clock. I've had the entire intake & exhaust replaced and got a professional tune. It's been running reliably ever since. Only times I've been left stranded was when the clutch died and once when I left it sitting for months with a 5 year old battery that died. I live in NYC where emissions laws are strict and I always pass inspection. Still love your videos and value your opinion.
My friend has that same exact truck, fully loaded every option including the diesel engine and heavy duty transmission. he loves it and i’ve been in a few times and it’s lovely. no problems yet but it has like 20 k miles. so far so good but it was not cheap not even close, in many part of the US i’m sure it could buy a house.
We have that exact Denali shown on the thumbnail with the Duramax and Allison 10 spd, and a 3500 Denali with duramax also and 10spd Allison. It’s the best damn truck GM has made since the C/k 1500 series it’s absolutely amazing. We tow with both trucks and drive at least 100mi daily . Very comfy and well built
All the car companies need to do is send their designers to the join the maintenance dept for a period & they will very quickly design a better car next time 😉
My 2005 GMC Canyon with over 110k miles has had no problem at all - has never broke down. Just replaced brake pads, fluids, oil...that's it. Been an excellent truck.
@@dcarts5616 Labor isnt really that overpriced at dealerships. You're paying for training in said Make of cars and for the use of OEM factory service manuals. Independant shops use knockoff manuals and get generically trained to work on all makes.
@@dcarts5616 David...I would think the scam refers to suggested services that are not needed. The 3 color coded sticker that they put in your windshield is a good example. I had a tech tell me one time my brake fluid needed flushing. Totally not needed. They prey on women's fears of breaking down. Their job is to get lots of services to increase profit margins. Nothing wrong with their labor rates. Everything wrong with them up selling services.
Older Balder Wiser same thing the dealership told me after I went & got my oil changed. Not needed but I do know it’s time for new brakes rotors & pads but I will change them myself. Who knows how much they would pluck out of my wallet
@@DLTJR1959 While in general I agree with you, there are certain people or times when when changing brake fluid is necessary. For example, if one lives in a mountainous region, like The Rockies, or you drive across the country through mountains, you will eventually need to have that done, multiple times if needed.
Yes it was covered under warranty but what should I expect when it hits 50k miles ?! They did extend my bumper to bumper warranty for an additional 3 years and or up to 100k miles for free
Only some models in some years have their timing chains at the back. This goes for VW and BMW, not sure about Audi though. Get a belt drive engine which is located in the front. 👍🏼
Scotty, I had a diesel Jetta with a timing BELT in the back of the engine that needed to be replaced every 80 to 90 thousand miles at $2,000 to 3,000 to replace! The second belt broke at 161,000 miles and it was going to cost $11,000 to fix! ( I only paid $12,000.00 to buy in the first place!), needless to say I sold it to a junk yard for $4500.00 and never looked back.
I bought a new 2014 Sierra 4-wheel drive pick up with a 4.3 V-6. The oil filter would loosen up after approximately 1,000 miles. It didn't matter how hard the filter was tightened. I traded it in less than 3 years for a new Silverado. It's my second Silverado. I think no brand is without sin. The plastic oil pans on Ford vehicles drive me nutz. Scotty never comments about this.
I bought savaged 1998 bmw 318ti for 400 dollars. Fix a bad water pump and some molding needed to be replaced. My wife ended up in a accident , insurance totaled it again. Pay out for the car was 3800.00. I guess sometimes it could be worth it.
I owned two 1985 Dodge Daytona turbo's. The list of problems requires a book. After six horrifying years traded for Honda Civics. It was like a ton of weight lifted off my shoulders. Never went back to a Chrysler product. I agree with Scotty, why would any bank loan them a penny? I'd like to see the interest rate they're paying!
I bought an 85 Honda motorcycle with 400 miles on it. The explanation was that he only used it when his Harley broke down to go get parts. That is brand loyalty.
I had a 94 Silverado, bought brand new drove it over 300k and still have it, always maintained it myself never let me down, never no major problems. I buy a 2019 Silverado and have had the famous transmission shudder issue, oil leaking in my driveway due to oil cooler lines. Some other issues that newer Chevy, GMC trucks, water leaking into cab, lifters going out, electrical issues, I’m sure there’s more. GM needs to gets its quality control problem under control.
I purchased an 2005 Malibu Classic in 2014 from a small repair shop. They put a junkyard motor in to sell the car ( 4 cyl.) Now 6 years later with 177,000 miles the a/c still working good along with the cruise, and power windows. So far I've put in new coils and other maintenance items. The only major expense was the front sub-frame was replaced because of rust. I have a mechanic friend that did the work otherwise that car wouldn't be on the road today.
Bought my dream truck - 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali. 2 years later and it’s had multiple new AC components, new spark plugs, wires, and coils every 500-1000 miles. 2 new transmissions, multiple roof leaks, and for the cherry on top, it COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF at highway speeds and has shut off multiple times while turning into very fast traffic (and by shut off I mean no electronic power whatsoever included transmission locking up, no braking, no steering, no acceleration, and no it was not operator error) and I was told by top level GM people there was absolutely NOTHING they could do to help. Wouldn’t even give me a loaner while THEY drive my vehicle to and from work charging me for gas and while I’m still paying insurance on it!!!!! Not that it matters, but I’m in the military and other people rely very much on my reliability and having a vehicle that works as I’m also in the middle of not being home for extended periods of time and GM at every level offered NO ASSISTANCE whatsoever. PLEASE STAY AWAY.

Financial Expert Suze Orman says never to lease a car and when you buy a car, you should pay it off in 5 years or less. You see those car commercials all the time advertising leasing. The problem with leasing is that you can only drive a certain amount of miles and must do the maintenance requirements
Well, after dropping the motor to repair the A/C clutch, removing the dash for the heater core, timing cover gaskets, front seal, oil pan gasket and today the broken strut...I will never, ever....ever, ever, buy a ford again. Never.
My 2016 F150 with the 5.0 blows a lot of blue smoke when I start it. It only has 70,000 km on it. The dealer has had to change the cam shaft phaser twice now.
300 miles, oil everywhere...and you ask some dude on his yootoob channel what to do??? Seriously??? Well, Einstein, new vehicles come with this little thing called a factory warranty, soooo...perhaps you should call the dealership from where you purchased the truck. Yeah. I'd start there.
How about this, I saw a 2020 Cadillac XT6 as shiny as ever, come off from the dealer and make a loud bang, the hood flew up, and the engine was on FIRE. lol.
That dealership had gang or maffia problem. If that was from a modern engine you'd have mentioned the cylinder heads flying off. Carbureted engines used to be able to do that through the carburetor.
I Rented a GMC Acacia in Colorado. When I was on a rural highway, it was a hilly highway, and suddenly the car wouldn’t move above above 50 miles per hour. The speed limit was like 65, and everyone started passing us and wholy crap it was scary. Ended up pulling over, turning it off, and on, and then it worked fine again. It then did the same thing on a standard highway outside Denver, just a few days later! This was in 2018 and it was a 2018 model and it literally had 20,000 miles like wow what a piece of GM junk!
Yep. I bought a VW once. The guy I bought it from said he would never buy another one. I will never buy another one. Always the “check engine” light was coming on. It was one thing after another.

When VW says "lasts as long as the engine" they mean as long as the chain until it breaks, destroying the engine. "Semantics"

Happened to me on a mk6 gti. Learned my lesson. Now I’m in a class action lawsuit awaiting payment for defective timing chain tensioner that took out the engine. Scotty doesn’t lie about VW
Right on!
And the engine is good for 60,000 miles or 4 years less 1 day. Not bad at all.
I'm perfectly happy with my fifty year old GMC pickup. Haven't seen a car payment for forty-eight years, and always get love from other motorists and youngsters. Easy and cheap to repair and maintain, too.
20alphabet Awesome!
Way to go, you know that when something needs replacing you do it then or things will mount up and you get overwhelmed. How many miles on it? I have a 02 Tacoma that I'll never sell, just plan to keep on rolling.
Is it a 1970 C-10? If so, that's a gorgeous truck!
Good Scotry says older GMC were...the problems are in the new ones

My Silverado with 5.3 AFM just had lifter failure and push rod replacement at 75,000 km
Read forums of all makes and models and it will be no different from GM forums.

300 miles?! That's a lemon, even a PT Cruiser would go longer than that.
PT Cruisers will go 4-500 miles before needing a new engine. 🤣
funny u say that because i known someone who worked at a gm dealership shop and said a customer had a new sierra with 900miles,, motor died.

Not to mention the millions they spend on advertising.
Such a good analogy of GM
I’ve had two sierras and never had any issues with them

I am worried about all those ventilators GM is supposedly making!
If a 2020 GM truck is so bad...God help us all!!!
GM couldn't event build cars right. Ventilator is a all new product to them.
Do you think they can built them correctly without flaw?
I doubt so.
@@n-l1580 GM makes the best trucks. This truck seems to have had a little slip up in manufacturing, doesnt mean they all have this issue. But of course, when scotty says it, they do all have this issue. The ventillators GM is making are inspected by the FDA. No mistakes get past them.
@@andybub45 Of course, ventilators are counter productive for covid-19 but ...
@@andybub45 LOL I hope this is sarcasm
@@andybub45 I mean you figured they would at least drive them a little to see problems they could always reset the odometer and of you say they cant they can they are the manufacturer
2006 silverado with a .600" cam swap and almost 130,000 miles. Runs like a champ. Wife has a 2016 sho taurus with a trans leak and oil leak. Took it to the dealership and they didnt find an oil leak. Brass plug was leaking on trans pan. Hopefully the 20 year old service tech (parts changer) got it fixed.
My buddy bought a new GMC Sierra Denali and didn't even make it home from the dealer.
I have been working on cars all my life I am 71 and I thought I knew a lot until I met you thank you
Yup, I'll keep upgrading my 2002 2500hd LB7 Duramax, Built Alison trans, EFI live with DSP-5, 45% over SAC injectors, so they last longer than the original. Next is pull the bed, and por-15 the frame. It hauls my Sled deck, and enclosed snowmobile trailer over Washington state passes, and they've been using more corrosive de-icer over the last 10 years, so handle it before it becomes a problem.
Every brand of vehicle has problems, suck it up, we live in 2020 where everything is rushed to be made
Lucas Clarke True, but some suck much more than others. I’ll take a 12% chance of suckage over a 27% chance of suckage any day. And I think the automakers should be the ones to ‘suck it up,’ not us, the buyers.
That kind of thinking just doesnt help. But its mostly cause things are designed to fail now to make more money.
My 89 Chevy Cheyenne dually with the SB 350, TBI, and 4 speed tranny is a keeper. 100K with no leaks or oil consumption. Easy to work on and easy to find parts for it. At my age the truck will likely outlive me.
We need more people like him. But at the same time we dont. That's what makes scotty special
My friend has that same exact truck,
fully loaded every option including the diesel engine and heavy duty transmission.
he loves it and i’ve been in a few times and it’s lovely.
no problems yet but it has like 20 k miles.
so far so good but it was not cheap not even close, in many part of the US i’m sure it could buy a house.
I used to work at a car dealership. The service department is pure scam. I would never advise someone to go to the dealer for work. 🤣
Elaborate. What types of scams did you see besides overpriced hourly labor charges?
Funny watching Scotty blast GM trucks while a Chevy Trail Boss commercial playing on tv.
My 2019 traverse leaked oil only had 7,000 miles should of listen to Scotty🤦♂️ main seal gasket from transmission needed to be replaced
Must have been under warranty though. Still unacceptable for a vehicle that new though
What do you people eat or read that you buy a chevy!.
@N0RT2G0RD4U lemon law is not applicable to a lemon company
Yes it was covered under warranty but what should I expect when it hits 50k miles ?! They did extend my bumper to bumper warranty for an additional 3 years and or up to 100k miles for free
N0RT2G0RD4U yes we do have the lemon law but it needs to be the same problem over and over again to become a lemon car
Only some models in some years have their timing chains at the back. This goes for VW and BMW, not sure about Audi though. Get a belt drive engine which is located in the front. 👍🏼
Rev up your endless money pit!🚗💨

señor pepper ? What?
señor pepper.. no!
German engineers don't make their cars easy to repair
I have a 2013 Silverado and never had a problem with it at all!! I love it
Scotty, I had a diesel Jetta with a timing BELT in the back of the engine that needed to be replaced every 80 to 90 thousand miles at $2,000 to 3,000 to replace!
General Motors can't make it work in Australia, they are leaving next year. Very little public trust.
its about quality control. Even the engineer didn't design it that way, It is a different story when you manufacture couple thousand cars a day.
No. It's designed to make a major repair expensive enough to let the customer buy a new car.
Frank And what’s good’s that?
@@CyberlightFG Eurpean luxury car runs it that way. a $30k silverado? i dont think so.
I bought savaged 1998 bmw 318ti for 400 dollars. Fix a bad water pump and some molding needed to be replaced. My wife ended up in a accident , insurance totaled it again. Pay out for the car was 3800.00. I guess sometimes it could be worth it.
Just passed 200k miles on my 2007 Ford expedition with a 5.4l maintenance maintenance maintenance is the key.
maintenance is required on all cars. its the qaulity control that shows in the long run. money spent, bail outs, etc
Armando Sturzenegger bought in Missouri and have been driving all over the country.. currently in Arizona
Armando I just use whatever the oil shop uses high mileage i think it’s usually valvoline
I'm seeing plenty of Silverado's online running just fine with more than 200,000 plus miles
Ive owned 8 Silverados I loves em, but the transmissions and rear ends are horrible I’ve replaced a lot of em
what years lol
Couldn't agree more!
I bought an 85 Honda motorcycle with 400 miles on it. The explanation was that he only used it when his Harley broke down to go get parts. That is brand loyalty.
I'll NEVER buy a Chevrolet/GM product, i've had nothing but issues with every single one i've ever had.
G.M.C. stands for Got a Mechanic Coming
Quit your day job, you are funny 🤣
Garage man's companion.
LoL awesome never heard that one!!!
Ok that’s the best comment yet
FIAT= fix it again tomorrow
Whoa! I just noticed the shelves! Looking good, Scotty!
Ray S that is the rona’ distancing at its best.
Scotty don't clean .. that would be his wife who done that 😁😂
Bought my dream truck - 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali.
Scratching GMC and Volkswagen off my 'getting a new car' list.
@Trevor Lahey Didn't mean new as in brand new, i meant a different car.
@Ryan Ruegsegger Yeah that's a shame. I was salivating over those charger hellcats too, but i decided to heed Scotty's advice.
What do you have left? Pretty much Toyotas a Lexus are left from his vids
My dad got a 2020 SLT Sierra. Looks slick, but at 800 miles, coolant was getting into the engine.

Never.
so tell me, just how many tiny screws do you think had to come out to pull out the dash? i lost track each time they come into my shop.
Sounds like a Ford Taurus. Been there done that. I now hate all cars. Trucks only!
My 2016 F150 with the 5.0 blows a lot of blue smoke when I start it. It only has 70,000 km on it. The dealer has had to change the cam shaft phaser twice now.
They make them difficult and expensive to fix so you buy another one sooner.
What good’s that? More profit, perhaps?
Josh Bacon money money, money, money money money

more Profit for them, AAAaaannnndddd we get negative equity when we try to sell a Now-known unreliable truck
That’s true….they don’t want us to keep cars for a long time
300 miles, oil everywhere...and you ask some dude on his yootoob channel what to do??? Seriously??? Well, Einstein, new vehicles come with this little thing called a factory warranty, soooo...perhaps you should call the dealership from where you purchased the truck. Yeah. I'd start there.
How about this, I saw a 2020 Cadillac XT6 as shiny as ever, come off from the dealer and make a loud bang, the hood flew up, and the engine was on FIRE. lol.
What a lie
It's a crapalac.
LMAO Believe nothing you hear and half of what you see
ratagris21 lol
Iam not surprised. My brothers now old 😁 2020 GMC 1500 3.0 diesel blow a head gasket with less then 400 miles on it unfortunately. Good videos
