That is correct Henry Ford was related to Thomas Edison they were cousins. and and he and Edison, and Kingsford, an employee of Ford's. and other people like Teddy Roosevelt, and even other's that were his competitors like Ransom Olds. the founder of Oldsmobile, would go out to the woods on camping trips. and would use specially equipped model Ts that chuck wagon set ups on them. and would camp and BBQ I guess it's called grilling today. it was a very popular pastime back in them days. and the brickets so to speak came from the iron foundry that was part of the Ford Motor Company. so I guess you could say that Henry Ford was the father of camping and BBQing.

Glad to hear that u are living the American dream and love this country. It's good to hear these days. I miss my mustang , I wish I'd never traded it in, but I'm still a Ford guy I have an F-150 and a focus. Good luck to you brother!
@Mario S. So is everyone else, smh. It's a global economy. They have to compete. But they do still make vehicles here anyway, but they also need to stay in business. If they go out of business they'll employ zero American workers
Scotty, somehow I missed your video of how FORD started out with his company that did so much for so many people and his clever inventions which included his friendship with some very talented engineers/inventions. I dad actually started school at a community college learning how to work on Fords back in the 1960’s. Although he always had his hands on experience with every car he ever had. My dad owned a 1958 4 door T Bird. It was black. None of us would have dreamed of keeping it for a collection for future generations. Thank you for bringing us along for the history of how Henry Ford and what he accomplished during his life time.👍
Scotty, my 2013 Ford Mustang has NEVER needed a single repair. I have had to replace the tires and battery, do oil changes and filter changes and tire rotations. My BMW 3-series, my Chevy Blazer and my Hyundai Velostar (worst. car. ever.) practically needed at least one repair every six months (from buying NEW!). This V6 Ford Mustang has made me very happy. Even though it only had a 3 year warranty, I never needed it. My Hyundai had a 10 year warranty - because it needs it! So, when its' time to buy a new car, which manufacturer you think I'm going to pick next?
I drive an '06 Fiesta, so guess who gets to drive the family around when their cars break down! 😂😂. The biggest issue I've ever had in mine was some of the plastic parts under the bonnet breaking after about 14 Years of use...
Coukdnt disagree more on ‘leading edge’ . They no longer honor the word ‘quality’- and if ‘tough’ is what they consider their product now- the only adjective I can think of is ‘overpriced’
I'm not from the states but i own a ford Mondeo/Fusion and owned a Fiesta a few years ago, at first i was afraid of them because everyone said they are unreliable, now i had my Mondeo for 3 years now and it's never been touched by a mechanic since, except for oil changes and transmission fluid changes, same with the Fiesta.
Overall a better value for money though. Of course you can get cheaper trucks, cheaper parts, cheaper build, just cheaper...if you want cheap. Premium product=premium price, it's not a new concept, people just expect more for less.
I saw this guy with a massive Toyota tundra with a massive American flag on the back. I asked him “couldn’t even buy American, huh?” He looked at me all confused and then he realized lol

Fantastic Video Scotty .... A+++ Being raised in the Motor city, and the son of big shot in the tire industry during the 60's I can vouch for your accuracy and authenticity and ENJOYED it thoroughly.
Why the Mustang was so special, and was the reason the military chose the name and Ford also did. was that the name meant a horse or horse's. that were undemesticated, running in the wild, free, strong, and fast. a real symbol of strength it was an obvious choice.
Spectacular! I don't think the History Channel, or the Science Channel could do any better. I was fully interested the entire time of the video! Excellent job!
Hello, fellow Grand Marquis afficianado! Best. Car. Ever. My first was a 1989 LS that my wife and I, newly married 23 year olds, drove 3000 miles from Ohio to Montana for our honeymoon. Nobody else my age was driving one, and my siblings were merciless with their barbs. I didn't care. It was like riding a couch all the way across the United States. I've had two others since then, and I'll get another when the current one dies. SUV's and FWD drivetrains are for everyone else. For those of us with taste and an appropriate regard for naturally aspirated V8's, there are Grand Marquis. Keep on keeping on!

Lol so true Ian I’ve been a master mechanic for 30+ years Just go by a Ford service department. But out of the big 3 American brands I have to admit I would take a Ford
R J yes I understand that I was also a Ford factory trained technician and a diesel technician in Houston Texas for many years and I am still in the industry. Most of the vehicles I see in the service department are not in for regular service There is a separate part of most shops for maintenance and most have a designated quick lube section as well. What I see most recently are turbo failures left and right on all ecoboost engines, transmission issues, evaporators leaking, overheating issues and a ton of sunroof failure on all the trucks (very expensive) and a ton of diesel issues on the three quarter and one ton trucks. That doesn’t even include the broken spark plugs in the older 3 valve engines and the cam phaser issues. But being a tech I know how to do all these repairs Like I mentioned earlier out of all domestics I would still pick a Ford
Im the original owner of a 2000 f150 4.2l with 241,000 miles on it an I just replaced the original fuel pump after 21yrs THATS WHAT YOU CALL QUALITY For. For Off. On Road. Road Driving. Drag racing
It is kind of surprising that none of the hollywood studios haven't hired some of the great youtube presenters. Scotty, Indy Neidell, The History Guy, all do a better job than the people seen on TV these days.
My first car (as old as me) was a 67’ Ford Mustang, my latest car is going to be a Bronco. I’ve always thought Ford to be as an American as you could get. Still built in Michigan.
Loved the video and having grown up with a father whose now retired from Ford and a brother close to retirement it gave me a better understanding of the company that I work for. Yes, I work for Ford too and love that they provide a living for me and my wife. Only one gripe, it would have been nice to see the big union strike in the video, but other than that it was really well made. Very good job.
I’ve owned 2 Fords in my life and didn’t have much luck with either. A 1984 Tempo, and a 1988 Thunderbird Super Coupe with. Supercharged V6 and 5 speed manual.
The Shield mine had issue from the start , oil leak, power steering pump leak, any parts needed were never in stock. I've had 4 Ford trucks: A 1968 f100, a 78 f150, a 79 f150 and a95 f150. I've also had a gmc, a Nissan and a Mitsubishi. Never had a dodge truck but have had 3 dodge vans and 3 or 4 dodge cars. Personally, I consider Ford trucks, especially 1995 ish and before, to be the gold standard in trucks. Just my opinion. P.S. I read somewhere a few years ago that the 'preferred vehicle' of most millionaires in America, was the 1/2 ton Ford pickup. That being the case I figured that I had the truck so now all I need is the money.

Dealer and service network in rural America. Even though you typically only get a year warranty, there are a lot of people that only trust the dealer based service department. Major cities have lots of brand dealers, but many small towns and rural counties only have one or two new truck/car dealerships. Ford (most), Chevy then Dodge. Trucks are the cornerstone of those sales, but to move cars they are forced to take, the rural dealerships will often sell economy cars under cost to move them and help win factory incentives that help the dealer survive. Smart city car buyers often go out to the rural dealer to get a better car deal and pay less sales tax. They can still get their warranty work done at CarCity Ford. Getting out of the economy and police sized sedan business will change things... However as more and more first tier companies are dropping sedans.... Then Ford has the biggest truck dealership network still.
@@STho205 Most of those dealerships use aftermarket parts for repairs too. They buy many parts from local parts suppliers (NAPA, PepBoys etc), vehicle manufacturers don't make common parts like calipers, starters, solenoids etc. The companies that make the dealer's parts also make the same OEM for the aftermarket, which dealerships often use because of cost and availability.
Great video Scotty! Love the videos. Love my Fords. I’ve owned 2 old Ford escorts, 1 Mustang, owned two F150’s and currently own a 2021 F150 and a 2021 Ford Explorer ST. Best bang for the buck. BTW very cool Canadian Toronto connection. I’m a 15 min ride from there

Actually at one point Ford had wanted to build his town in northern Alabama, and while the town still holds his name...from looking at Detroit maybe it was a good thing lol.

@@ignignokt-6050 lol yea, pro sports teams or dilapidated buildings and crime through the roof, never cared much for Alabama myself but I do think Alabama and Auburn both seem to do fairly well in college sports, but let's face it, the Detroit Lion's are far from a professional team lol.
That was Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Look at the street names in Highland Park, Michigan where Ford's headquarters were at the time, and look at the street names in Muscle Shoals.
@@kroll41271 yea, just outside of there is an area called Ford City that actually had been invested in, think there are even still poured sidewalks that are basically out of place where he had originally planned to develop for workers and for utilizing the river.

Last time I checked, there were quite a few ford's you could buy new that had a starting price between 18 and 30k, while somewhat expensive, that's by no means an absurd amount for a brand new car. I know people are gonna say, wow, if I tick every options box the car gets expensive but my reaction to that is, of dug. Modern cars are more expensive, but they represent a better value. More powerful, efficient, reliable and safe for a price increase of a few thousand compared to cars from a decade ago. That's not terrible.
kinda makes you wonder why the auto manufacturers can't make a "real car" for the average working man. You can tell the people who struggle by the "throw away" cars that you see on our public roadways

Seen the modern marvels lol
Kingsford was a cousin in law of Henry Ford and owned a Dealership . He arranged for a large land purchase for Ford .
Watched it twice and am about to go for #3. I absolutely enjoy the many repair videos that you offer , but I must say , I believe that you are on to something here. How bout Chevy, Toyota, etc. Wouldn't hurt my feelings if you kept it on going. The absolute passion and thought put in to this Jem is Amazing! With out a doubt I would be willing to pay to see content like this from you. You are literally recognized as a high end brand. I imagine that folks world wide know of you and enjoy your content just as much as I do ! Can't wait for the next One.......
My Great Grandfather used to work at the Detroit Ford plant before he even met my grandfather's mother. My grandfather was born in 1937 🙂
Came to US from Punjab. God knows how much i love this country now. It's been 15 years and 7 cars i owned and will own only ford. Had 2 mustangs and believe me how free you feel while driving it. I think that's true american car vibe i.e ford.
Ford is a great vehicle. I have been driving them since 1975.
Try some other makes as well. Life is too short to only drive fords. If you care about cars anyway
Glad to hear that u are living the American dream and love this country. It's good to hear these days. I miss my mustang , I wish I'd never traded it in, but I'm still a Ford guy I have an F-150 and a focus. Good luck to you brother!
@@Marco-fi6gv yeah! My uncle says mustangs never get old.
Toyota
Definitely McLaren
I drive an '06 Fiesta, so guess who gets to drive the family around when their cars break down! 😂😂. The biggest issue I've ever had in mine was some of the plastic parts under the bonnet breaking after about 14 Years of use...
Same with my wifes 1997 Camaro V6
I have a v6 mustang 2014 so far this correct but mustang stereo is defect and sucks
They really are leading edge and you did an amazing job telling the story in such detail. Loved watching Scotty!
Coukdnt disagree more on ‘leading edge’ . They no longer honor the word ‘quality’- and if ‘tough’ is what they consider their product now- the only adjective I can think of is ‘overpriced’
False. Ford hasn't been the leading edge of anything other than crappy manufacturing for 80+ years.
Much respect for Henry ford . I only drive ford , best value
Looks like they forgot about the whole affordability thing with their trucks.
That's not just Ford... The price of any truck is getting out of hand.
Accurate.. so expensive!
Work harder, work smarter if you want expensive and nice vehicles. If you don’t want to, then Hyundai keeps elantras in stock just for you.
@@poopstain5216 or you could just buy a used truck
Overall a better value for money though. Of course you can get cheaper trucks, cheaper parts, cheaper build, just cheaper...if you want cheap. Premium product=premium price, it's not a new concept, people just expect more for less.
Not going to lie, I'm a Ford man. I've had many different brands over the years, but I keep going back to Ford.
I’m a mix between Ford and Chevrolet. Chevrolet has a lot of good performance cars too. Good luck ever blowing up an LT1.
I saw this guy with a massive Toyota tundra with a massive American flag on the back. I asked him “couldn’t even buy American, huh?” He looked at me all confused and then he realized lol
@@jivet3919 he was confused because that Tundra is 100% made in the USA employing thousands of American workers. Toyota doesn't even sell that in Japan
cassmanio Toyota making one truck here is not a big deal. They are still a Japanese company who has a unionized workforce in Japan but not in the US.
@@jivet3919 that could be, but all car companies are truly global nowadays.

You've gotta do more of these Scooty. Loved every minute of it and your voice is perfect for it.
@Tony hello,how are you doing
The model T is pretty good at going off-road
Had to be. Some roads were not so smooth.
In the early days , model Ts traveled over roads/goat paths that would be impassable by most cars today, first mass produced S U V, go Ford !!!!
Scotty is da' man yo. Young engineers and do it yourselfers are all happy you do this for us. Thank you Nelson.
Scotty this is amazing! I love hearing ur voice explaining car history. It goes together like peanut butter and jelly.
I usually enjoy your content, but this video is a whole new level of premium entertainment. Great job with this one!
Fantastic Video Scotty .... A+++
Being raised in the Motor city, and the son of big shot in the tire industry during the 60's I can vouch for your accuracy and authenticity and ENJOYED it thoroughly.
"Ranger" is also a breed of horse, aka, Colorado Ranger. Pretty darned rare.
Why the Mustang was so special, and was the reason the military chose the name and Ford also did. was that the name meant a horse or horse's. that were undemesticated, running in the wild, free, strong, and fast. a real symbol of strength it was an obvious choice.
Damn good documentary Scotty .
I'm a honda car guy but i just got an F250 and i absolutely love it
I love when you do these types of episodes Scotty , out of the park brother!
Spectacular!
I don't think the History Channel, or the Science Channel could do any better. I was fully interested the entire time of the video!
Excellent job!
Wow wasn't expecting a full 34 minute documentary. Nice job Scotty!
I love my 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis... Scotty liked it enough to make a video out of it too!
Isn't the Grand Marquis actually a Lincoln Town Car? And a Ford Crown Victoria?
A 30 minute video on Ford, this is great!
honestly these are amazing videos... i wish scotty made more like this about cars and the manufacturers who made them and its just awesome history you dont really learn anywhere other than videos like this.... and scotty is smart great to listen too and you can tell these video took time.... research... and love of cars in order to make these.... i could only imagine the time it takes to put this type of video together but i personally appreciate it because like i said there really is no where to watch stuff like this other than RUclips and or i guess trying to hunt down car shows on random TV subscription channels but that can be ruff.... thanks again scotty hope to see more history style videos like this... love learning about the history of car companies
I enjoy your videos Scotty ,thanks. My first vehicle I learnt to drive was my Mum & Dad's Fordson Major. I was told Ford stole the Ferguson system and fitted it to his tractor, and grew fields of hemp for fuel and car materials, well before it was illegal.
I live in Dearborn mi, I’ve been to Henry Ford house on his estate in Dearborn Michigan it’s located by the university of Michigan and I’ve actually seen his personal garage and I’ve seen Henry Ford wifes electric car. Plus Henry actually had a bowling ally in his basement it was pretty cool to see his estate espiaclly the water fall on the river rouge it’s small but still cool to look at and think 100 years ago Henry Ford was there
@Ghetto Peasant I know an easy way to boost that
Isn’t Dearborn Mi pretty much a Somali Muslim town now? Henry Ford would be horrified
@Bill Randall *yes, but he wasn't alone. Margaret Sanger did as well and wrote books. Hitler really appreciated her writings and incorporated it in his country. Margaret Sanger founded America's Planned Parenthood. She hoped to reduce the black population. For some reason the Democratic Party loves Planned Parenthood.*
My great grandfather was in his 80’s out fishing one morning & just happened to start up a conversation with another old timer. Amazingly they had worked side by side as young men at Henry Ford’s car manufacturing place in Chicago.
I have been a ford lover since i was a kid in the 50s... this is the best video from you or anyone showing a comprehensive history of Ford and i am truly grateful. I love your channel and have learned so much but i really love this video and your ability to relate the story of a company that America can be proud of. Thank You, Scotty.

or why the 426 hemi dominated NASCAR and the NHRA
@@d.s7741 The 426 hemi was great. And that version didn't have poor-oiling issues that the current one has.

Just go by a Ford service department.
But out of the big 3 American brands I have to admit I would take a Ford
Everybody wins!
They are junk the only domestic company thats worse is Chrysler!
R J yes I understand that
I was also a Ford factory trained technician and a diesel technician in Houston Texas for many years and I am still in the industry.
Most of the vehicles I see in the service department are not in for regular service
There is a separate part of most shops for maintenance and most have a designated quick lube section as well.
But being a tech I know how to do all these repairs
Like I mentioned earlier out of all domestics I would still pick a Ford
Im the original owner of a 2000 f150 4.2l with 241,000 miles on it an I just replaced the original fuel pump after 21yrs THATS WHAT YOU CALL QUALITY

Very good history lesson. The only thing Scotty left out was Henry Ford's support of Hitler in WW2.
Mine's built in Missouri 👍
0:16 coupe that goes off road in 1900s...didn't realize model T could do it, able to go off a drop at that distance
This video was absolutely awesome! I'd love to see more like this! A new binge series on Netflix perhaps? 🤔 😂
I have a 3.0 duratec v6 flexfuel very reliable motor ,Ford did fantastic job
The 80's were NOT a good time for Ford.
The Shield mine had issue from the start , oil leak, power steering pump leak, any parts needed were never in stock. With the oil leak I can vividly recall how upset the dealer mechanic was trying to fix it, yelling “ these damn engineers and Fords better ideas, they should have to bring their assess down here and try and work on them sometime!” 😆

A 1968 f100, a 78 f150, a 79 f150 and a95 f150.

"Why do real Americans buy Ford?" 34 minutes later, and Scotty still hasn't answered his own question.
Most Americans can't realistically afford a new car anymore. 😆
Mca5517d Mca5517d reading is fundamental, yet you haven’t learned how.
@Jeff Oliver Makes sense. He's from Niagra Falls. He also wasn't saying he buys Fords.
