@Mike Rosen Scotty is just a hater who is all pro Toyota... Most REAL review companies (not Scottys opinions) rate Tundra and Titan under RAM Ford or GMC/Chevy. They go much more in depth with quality check. "I've been a mechanic for 50 years and I had a customer who had a bad Ram" doesn't make it a fact.
Exactly. If a younger guy made this video it would have 100 jump cuts in it because of ADHD, and shitty humor that we probably wouldn't laugh at. I'm glad Scotty is on RUclips!!
Crazy to see how quality has shifted over the years. Had a 98 f150 with well over 300k miles. Was a beast! Had a 04 f150 and was in the shop every 3 months for engine issues.
I sometimes have similar issues with my dad’s 2016 F350 that he has had for a few years. It’s had to go in for repair several times but only one was for anything engine related (emmisions sensor). The other times were for electrical issues (headlights had some bad wiring), AC issues (needed a recharge), or minor body work (fuel neck, tailgate trim, tires, etc). Otherwise it actually runs better than most of my dad’s trucks outside of his 2015 Tundra and his 87 Bronco (all of the other trucks are almost 30 years older than the 2016 F350 or the 2015 Tundra and all have issues even if they do run). Ironically almost all of my dad’s trucks are Fords. He has two other F350’s that are from 1990 and 1986 and an F450 from 1988 and all three have issues
Little Known Fact: If you give Scotty a baton while he's talking, then put the Philharmonic Orchestra in front of him, his arms would conduct The Star Spangled Banner.
“Dodge v8 gets horrible gas mileage” few moments later talking about the f150, “well you don’t buy a truck for good gas mileage”. A think there’s just a little bias here.
Ron Sachanowski Actually I would rather have a f150. But fan wise I feel Chevy, dodge, and ford make good rigs, just depends on the year and model. As for Scotty, like a lot of his videos, but laugh sometimes at his bias.
My coworker has a 2014 Ram1500 5.7V8 and he drives in in eco on highways. He can get under 10L/100km (over 21mpg). I've seen it go as low as 6L/100km on straight highway
Just putting it out there, my uncle's had a Dodge Dakota for 15 years now, it's got well over 450K on it, and while not all the bells and whistles work anymore that thing has been nothing but reliable. He uses it as a truck should be used. Hauling things, towing things, it's not been gently used. Just my experience.
Scottys old and still relates to dodges issues back in the 90’s. I know of nobody who actually OWNS one that has deep problems. I however will never buy another ford product. Something tells me old Scotty is getting paid to back those POS.
@@natemartinez4595 I have had 3 Dodge Ram 1500s in my family. From 2005-2012. All 3 of them broke down at 60-90k miles. Tranny just went out. Garbage truck. So not sure why this guy is talking about the 90s they are still relevant problems!!! I’d love a brand new ram truck they are beautiful. But I’m not making the same mistake that all 3 of my uncles made.
My father watches all your video’s he’s a fan. I thank you very much for your videos. He relaxes to them and tells me “Scotty tells you the good cars from bad cars to buy he knows his stuff” much appreciated Scotty love from Pa.
@Bulldetectoryeah, noticed he specified the model. It’s probably cause most people by the gasser trucks. The diesels are in their own ballpark and are generally solid now, but I guess it depends on how you treat them.
If my family can get 18 years out of a 99 nissan altima driven across the country multiple times theres no reason you cant get 84 months out of ANY TRUCK. They are built to last.
I bought a 1996 Dodge brand new. I have bought a few more in the last 20+ years and had no issues at all with them. The last one I bought was a 3500 single cab but unfortunately due to my late wife having cancer she had difficulty getting in and out. I still have my 96 1500 though and it has over 300,000 miles on it. I did have to change out the O2 sensors and high pressure governor but thats it! I drive it every day!
@@user-vacgod2739 that’s for all trucks, anything past the mid 1990’s with a slim group of exceptions past that time- they lost the longevity they were all known for. granted you can make newer trucks last long too but nowhere near as good as them old trucks
@Shenanigans Unfortunately, people who were not alive before Jeep became a Chrysler product, don’t know that Dodge had nothing to do with manufacturing the Jeeps that were like little indestructible vehicles and believe me the GI’s did their best to destroy them when they first arrived in the war!!! This phenomenon is no different than politicians who have Bever been in an actual civics class, never learned anything about world history prior to Vietnam, and think they know more about why the Constitution was written in the late 1700’s than the people who wrote the Constitution in the first place!!!!
Got a 14 ram with the 5.7 and 8 speed trans. Gets about 19.5 MPG average and the only reason I bought it was it's not the same junk transmissions they used to use, they are actually very reliable now as long as they're maintained, coming from a chevy guy. 115,000 smooth miles so far, many to come!
To be honest, they’re old transmissions were good. It’s just that dumb mechanics would put universal tranny fluid in em instead of the ATF+4 they’re designed to use. Guess reading is hard for mechanics.
kyle blanford while i never thought id be a ford guy (toyota employee) the newer 6.7 diesel is a 500,000 mile motor in the fords. Think i may get that over the hybrid tundra
My 2005 Ram truck has 314k miles and runs fine. Both engine and trans have done just fine. My 03 Jeep Liberty has over 200k miles and fires right up. It is also doing fine. I’m happy with my purchases.
@@guardian7773 I’ve developed a couple of issues I need to look at. I’d say if you don’t beat the snot out if one of these trucks it’s good for 20 years.
Scotty may be old, but he isn't the type of person to forget, he is the type that you meet and learn a ton from, so his stories can teach us all a ton about vihecles from his youth to now
elfpimp1 The fuel management system that shuts down 4 of the cylinders to save gas is causing a lot of engine and transmission problems. Worst part is you only gain a few mpgs. Fortunately they have devices to keep in in V8 mode that plug into the obd port. Some people say it helps with the oil burning problem in the higher mileage Chevy trucks.
Lucas Mills in Nebraska but yeah totally agree nothing is stronger than oxidizing metal. My grandpa said it had 300k miles on it. It sits in a pasture with the box against the cab. I wasn’t Alive when it was running...
I had a 1996 Dodge ram that had almost 300,000 miles on it when I sold it. I did have to get the transmission serviced at a little over 200,000, but the engines is still strong. I see it running around town still. Just traded my 2011 Ram that had 168,000 miles on it. It had the 5.7 hemi and the gas mileage was okay for a pickup. Averaged 20 mpg driving from Amarillo to Phoenix running between 75-80 to keep from getting ran over on I-40 section.
In my experience Dodge’s don’t last long term, I know people that daily them, realize that just because you see it go down the road doesn’t mean that it’s not a pain in the neck to keep on the road.
Really? My family friends company switched from f150s to silverados because transmissions and rear ends kept breaking...3 Silverado v6s with over 200k 9 silverados in the whole company
That’s why I stick with the GMT400 body style. That TBI 350 won’t win races but it’s bulletproof reliable. Mine is 28 years old and never has a problem starting, and goes down the road smooth.
GMT800s are my personal favorites. Plasticky interiors but the first gen LS engine, 4 speed auto, and before everything got too complicated. They also ride like a dream.
Finally, someone that gets it. I have 2007 F-150 that I'm still driving today. It has minimal rust and the most problems I ever had to deal with is changing out the alternator, replacing the battery, and oil changes.
5.2 is a strong engine 5.9 burns some oil but it’s still strong. My 4.7 had some issues that had to do with the previous owner, but it’s strong, 200k and you can still see the crosshatching on the cylinder walls. 5.7 hemi, fine has a couple of quirks but fine for the most part. Strong for the most part motors.
Yeah, I have a 5.2 from 2001, it’s been a solid for me. Though I inherited it a few years ago, it apparently had the computer go out and replaced and the same for the radiator. But aside from those things, it’s running decently. I’m planning to overhaul it a big for slightly more power. But mainly just use it for getting around with the occasional trailer tow.
I drive 60k miles a year and have had them all them and agree with him 100%. Ram is the only one i will not buy again no matter how great a deal i think it is. At the same time you see rams with 300k+ miles all the time.
How can you even say ford makes the best pickups when they had that horrible 5.4 Triton V8 in the 2000’s and now they have the even less reliable ecoboost engines...
Scotty never mentions the problems Ford had with these engines.None of my Chevrolet trucks over the years have blown the spark plugs out of the heads. The 5.3 is a great engine imho
Agent_Blackwing yes the newer f150’s with the 5.0 coyote v8 is a solid and reliable truck, but that’s the only good one out of the like 6 engine choices they currently offer.
The 5.4 were awesome engines. You just had to do a timing job on them and change spark plugs more than once every ten years. Other than that awesome trucks.
I have de 2.7 ecoboost for 60k miles and runs perfect without any problems and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Yes they are lemons out there after selling like 2 million ecoboost trucks since 2011 and you have to consider that you mostly read the bad reviews online from owners that half of them bought the truck used after an accident or god know why and then blame the truck for any reason
Lower hose blew and it burned the engine up. Temp guage never showed it over heating. 230, 000 miles that was rebuilt at 170 k miles. I guess you can say I have gotten my miles out of that vehicle.
I'm a Ford guy but the hemi is the best gas truck engine made. Even Scotty agreed a few months ago. Now he's complaining about gas mileage? The newer ones get 15-20mpg. Great for a full sized truck with that much power. Toyota will never have those kind of numbers. Meanwhile Ford is adding turbos or variable cam timing, which is great until 150,000 miles. Then then engines cost a fortune to fix if something goes wrong. Time will tell on the 5.0, but for now I'll take an f150 with a hemi.
@@bradleythomsen3083 The Hemi is a good engine designed by Mercedes, but its not the best gas engine. Toyotas 5. 7 is by a landslide. Hemis have lifter failures due to low oil flow.
I never understood the roller failures. I left a reply on another comment, I have a 2010 Dodge Ram with 321k miles on it and the only ticking I’ve ever heard was at 110k when I had to replace my manifolds. People can’t take care of their damn trucks and don’t change the oil. I use standard Mobil 1 5w20 and change every 5000 miles and have had none of these issues. I’d be so pissed off if I was an auto manufacturer, because most criticism of engines is due to poor maintenance.
please tell us what parts you have replaced on your F250 Cam phasers, timing chain,60$ spark plugs that don't come out Yeah LOL Fords are ( Air haulers) America buys Dodge Cummins) to work look in any walmart parking lot you'll see trailers behind Dodges Ford are always pretty and look like they never worked a day.
@@AmericanSurvival001 you see more fords on the road than dodges. Dodges are more of a company car because they are cheaper. You get what you pay for.... and notice how you see no NEW dodges on the road because no body wants them. But i see new fords left and right.
Scott wads At 170,000 miles I replaced the plastic top part of the engine which cost about $800. I replaced two coil packs and two spark plugs. Other than brakes and tires I’ve done no other major maintenance on the vehicle of course I do regular oil and transmission fluid changes as part of the basic maintenance. So I’ve been really pleased with the truck overall. Thanks for asking.
I bought a 2012 F150 a few years ago, I couldn’t believe how nice the suspension was. It drives like a car, I love it! I’ve put 70k miles on it and the only issue I’ve had was the fuel pump, great truck!
Haven't tried an F-150 but borrowed a RAM 1500 and it was SO fun to drive. Felt great suspension wise and accelerated so quick, loved it. Ultimately went with a Tacoma though cuz I want reliability not headaches every few miles lol
And he says that dodge has a better suspension? Hahahahahahaha.. scotty is kinda putting out information that isnt so accurate. My opinion. Still like his videos about repairs, still great in that aspect
I feel like the Titan is the most underrated of all the trucks, a lot of reviews I see from Titan owners tend to be something along the lines of being a big Ford/Chevy/Dodge person but once they owned the Titan they'd never go back
I would buy a Nissan Titan they are decent Trucks, that's would be my third option, after a Tundra, a F150 or a Titan. If I seen a Titan with 💯 thousands miles I wouldn't think it & buy it...
321k miles 2010 5.7 hemi and 5 speed auto, crew cab, bighorn. Never had any issues with reliability. Trans fluid changed every 100k and oil changed every 5k. Standard Mobil 1 5w20. I also had to replace my front hubs.
I have a 2015 ram 5.7 express with 70k miles I put her through some tough stuff. It hasn't really gave me any problems. Oils changes , little wear and tear stuff. Nothing to cry about.
@@billgateskilledmyuncle23 I think he gets paid by Ford. They pay people to talk up their trucks. The Rock is a spokesman and they give him a lot of money to do it as well as free trucks.
I had a 97 Ram 2500 with a V10 8.0 L engine, 4x4. That thing was my daily driver for 6 years. But it was passed down to me from my uncle, he had it for 4 years. The engine never had issues. I ended up selling it when it reached 202k miles. It was a fun truck.
My 2002 Ram 1500 with the 5.9 magnum gas engine has 470,000 miles on it. Now I had to get a new tranny 30k miles back and injectors and a new radiator but besides that, she still runs strong. Agree to disagree Scotty
I have a 2004 Hemi 1500 and a 2005 Hemi 2500 and both are over 200,000 miles. I've owned them a long time and both still run like new with their original engines and trannies but when Dodge went to the MDS (around 2006), their reliability tanked.
Scotty, I have a 2010 Nissan Titan with 203k miles. So far, all I've done is change the oil on schedule. Zero mechanical problems whatsoever. Still runs like a champ. I expect to reach 300k miles. I've never swapped any parts at all.
I know this vid is over a year old and someone may never read this but there are a few things Scotty left out. Dodge has been making trucks since world war 2, they released the power wagon to the public after WW2 it had 4wd and a V8. They've been around a lot longer than he said.. My dad purchased a 2019 Ram 1500 and it gets better gas mileage than my mom's ford expedition with the 3.5L EcoBoost, it has MDS technology which means it goes down to a 4 cylinder when not accelerating. Ram has definitely stepped up their game and deserve better than last.
Dodge had a rough patch after the turn of the century and has seriously recovered. have a 2021 ram rebel and its far superior in every way to other trucks on the same trim. 5.7 is tried and true, and has a ZF transmission. yes please.
To me Nissan Titan is the most underrated truck I'm glad to hear Scotty has it in number 3 out of 5. I own a first generation Titan almost 1/2 a million miles on this baby, never visited the mechanic with any problems until just recently. It's an 06 an I've owned it since 2013. She's a beast.
@@thebigbucktheory5488 thanks for the advice. I actually went to look at it, ready to buy cause the frame looked solid and the alternator was shot. So couldn't test drive. Truck is clean though. My wife wanted it too.
All my family are Chevy owners and swear by Chevy. I went with a F150 and I love it! From the way it rides and handles to the interior and body style. I love my F150!

Got a 04 at 188000 transmission goes out and takes the transfer case out too. All in 10 years. And I only haul alittle sheetrock and paint. Im trading in this junk for a Toyota tundra
I’ve got the same one! I’m at 115k. She’s been coddled. But now she’s my Landscpaing pickup. Although when I tow the dump trailer I think she gets mad at me. Hahaha
In 2005 I bought a Ram 1500 with the 4.87 8 cyl engine - I LOVED that truck I never had a single problem. I sold it in 2007 with 60k miles on it when gas prices skyrocketed. Recently I was going to finally replace it, I am sort of glad now that didn't happen. After looking around and weighing my needs I ended up with a Nissan Frontier and I LOVE IT.
He's right about Chrysler. I knew a former Chrysler mechanic who told me to never, ever buy a Chrysler product, especially Jeeps. He said Jeeps (all models) were ALWAYS in the garage for problems.
Oh yeah that’s true, Jeeps are ridiculously unreliable. You basically throw those things away after 100k miles With the exception of my 2007 Jeep Liberty, for some reason this mf is still running like a dream after 180k miles, every single one of the lights are on at all times but it’s still running somehow lmao
About 90 percent of those instagram females drive Jeeps, even my ex-girlfriend had one, she bought a brand new one, heard it's now in the auto shop with a broken axle!!! Lmfao!!!
It's amazing how many RAM owners swear by them though. All of them say how reliable they are. "I've got 150k miles on mine and had zero issues". I just don't believe it. Scotty is spot on....Chrysler makes beautiful LOOKING cars and trucks. They just don't build quality into them,
@@jarrettbellboy I can say this my My Dad truck a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.2 V8 are pretty reliable he got it at 160k to 250k til that car accident. He have the 2003 with 5.9 V8 and that truck is odd reliability.
But it's very true ram trucks have been in my family for years now my uncle has a 2014 ram 1500 that has well over 100,000km on it and still runs great with its factory 5.7L hemi v8. Yea some of the trucks can be lemons but every company has its lemons and a lot of the older 3rd gen rams are still kicking around today as they were built tougher then and even more so in the 2nd gens. My 2018 ram 1500 is just shy of hitting 28,000km and so far no problems and it's got the 3.6L v6 pentastar
I own a 2018 Silverado . Transmission problems from day one. Four years and problem still exists. Going back in next week for the fifth time. If I don’t get a new transmission and torque converter I will be forced to file the Lemon law.
The two things my dad can’t stand about his 2019 f-150 is the 10 speed transmission, and the auto shutdown feature to save gas mileage by turning off the engine every time you stop. He did like the 2015 f-150 a lot better than the 2019. It had more power and seemed to just do a better job all around. That 10 speed transmission is not good for towing purposes. Please let me know what you think
My dad has a 2017 Audi A4 (which obviously isn't a truck), but it has the engine shut off feature too. I think it's convenient, and he does too. It only has 17000 miles, but could easily last 200,000+
Just towed a ~5000lb trailer on a 2000+ mile round trip. I borrowed my dad's '19 F-150, 2.7L 10 speed. (I have an '89 F-250 and a '96 F-150, it was much more comfy) As far as transmissions go, I fell in love. It was the most responsive new automatic I've ever driven, and shifted seamlessly. I usually hate the different software "modes" on new cars, but these ones actually worked. Tow/Haul, while not necessary, was a godsend on long downhills. The transmission seamlessly downshifted with brake application, and held gears appropriately. I loved it. As for auto stop/start. Maybe I'm biased, because my daily is a hybrid. But it's completely unobtrusive and never activates when the conditions aren't appropriate. In fact, as soon as the trailer was plugged in it never activated at all. Also, it's one button to turn it off.
Mine has a 3 speed plus overdrive. Works for me. I prefer a solid torque curve over peak horsepower. Although, better gas mileage at highway speeds while towing would be nice.
Tyler Von Lossberg you got a rare one, second gear blows out like its a 2000-2003 7.3 powerstroke lmao the engines gonna live a long time, mostly cause its not dodge lol
I’ve owned a Ford 2001 F250 Lariat Super Duty with a 7.3 TD since it was brand new. Best truck I’ve ever owned. I’ve owned them all Chevrolet, Dodge and Ford etc. over 65 years.
Had a 2015 dodge 5500 pulled a 48 foot trailer had it a year transmition went out 4 times got a f350 no problems pulls 35000 pounds cross country bought a 80s f150 still have it today and still know cracks in dash !!!! Liked it so much bought a new one
And Ford had Model T pickups and small flatbeds back in the teens that could also drive a saw or pump belt on the jobsite. Even had a drop top pickup which is really cool. Saw one at a show. Wanted it. I think he means just the modern pickup with a 4x8 box bed (step and fleet side) that US companies started pushing after 1945 when they resumed customer sales.
Chevrolet has been making trucks since 1918 so Scotty needs to get his facts straight. Chevy, Ford, and Dodge have been making trucks long before he claims they have
We have a fleet of Triton 5.4s and I’ll have people come up to me, unsolicited, and tell me how on the Internet they read how awful they are. That they shoot plugs, cam position sensors, oil issues etc. In the 6 that we have run daily loaded to the gills for service, none of these problems. Sure I’ve had a coil go after 12 years, but all we do is change the oil every 6k and I check mine every 3k.
@@PhatsoJuggalo806 Nobodys crying its just that I have never heard Scotty mention this problem with the Triton engines.Yes they all have their issues. But I drive Gm trucks at work and for personal use and have had good service all around. Its just that He has never mentioned it one time that I know of.
Mannn that makes me happy to hear. As long as you take care of it it will probably last you even more. Just do what Scotty says to maintain your car in this case your f150 and she will run until she can't anymore. Good truck by the way.
Saw an old inline six ford catch on fire while pulling out a tree stump. Still pulled that tree out lol. Just a new valve cover gasket and it still ran for several more years.
I've always been curious about those big straight sixes. They say they are a true truck engine. They look easy to work on, as well. I drive a 93 f250 7.3 idi, and it isn't always as easy to fix as one would think. Dang turbo gets in the way all the time.

Crazy to see how quality has shifted over the years. Had a 98 f150 with well over 300k miles. Was a beast! Had a 04 f150 and was in the shop every 3 months for engine issues.
Had a 98 and blew a headgasket and got rid of it. Have an 04 currently, and I've blown the heater core 3 times, among other issues. Lol
04 was known as one of the worst f150s of all time. Had 16 recalls and that 5.4 triton was just a disaster
The 04 depends on the engine I’ve got the shitty little XLT V6 rwd, but it’s got about 200k miles and hasn’t had any serious issues.

Watching this as I am sitting in a borrowed Silverado, because my Ram is getting another engine.
Serious? What mileage? Whats wrong with it?

Scotty: Dodge Ram engine and trans are piles of junk.
Also Scotty: The hemi is a decent engine.
Jonathan Dougherty the older dodge engine are bulletproof
Dodge transmission is bad
Dodge transmission is actually good the older one of course ford transmission and some GM is not
dominic reynolds The 2016+ Ram 1500 uses the infamous ZF 8 speed used in tons of other cars. It’s pretty much agreed by everyone to be a great trans.
The manual transmissions in the heavy duty trucks are relatively problem free
Scottys wife cheated on him with a ram owner 😂😂😂
Dade350 Dade dodge the father ram the daughter lol or they really do just suck
I think so, or a Fiat owner. Lord knows he talks down to her like she's been sleeping around.
Dilly Dally lmaoo
Sounds about right lol he just bags down on ram.
that's because he's a real man. a real man drives an american truck, not an old japanese sports car wannabe.
is it mechanic Friday and you’re giving one away??!!??
haha ;)
Scotty, I have a 2010 Nissan Titan with 203k miles. So far, all I've done is change the oil on schedule. Zero mechanical problems whatsoever. Still runs like a champ. I expect to reach 300k miles. I've never swapped any parts at all.
Wouldn’t buy a RAM, unless it’s got a Cummins in it.
Clark McLean lol just take the Cummins out and put it in a Ford
Chef Bojack waste of money
Clark McLean AMEN
I want a cummins swapped minivan no seats and a cage
I wont buy a fuckin truck if it doesnt have a cummins in it.
I don't even need to watch this to know that he ranked Toyota #1
Edit: Im shocked.
@emark24 I've you been watching his videos for a while, you'd already know his F-150 recommendation for full-size. He's said that for quite a while
No
But Toyota only makes trucks for boys.. I'll stick with my F350 Powerstroke 😂
@@bigdbrowne Or my RAM with a proven Cummins, that can be worked on without having to remove the cab like a FoundOnRoad Dead
@@siseley1 Well, being that Ford is the parent company of Cummins...you, my friend, are driving a Ford product.
My last dodge started on fire while I was driving it. True story. Never again.
Saddly the problem is that the 4 cylinder that are alsays running use faster than the rest of the cylindddf
Dodge had a rough patch after the turn of the century and has seriously recovered. have a 2021 ram rebel and its far superior in every way to other trucks on the same trim. 5.7 is tried and true, and has a ZF transmission. yes please.
Im interested in a 2019 ram. Im worried about long term. We can only all speculate
How about cam phasers Scotty? And shitty AOD trans?
I like the acceleration on the ram trucks but the F150’s ride really nice and have a sense of class for a truck.
I'll take a boxy pickup from the 1970s or 1980s.
I used to have a ‘78 Ford F-100, I sure miss that thing!
This list would be completely different if we were talking diesels.
Oh for sure it would, Cummins makes a great engine. The transmission is still bad though
No one could argue cummins is the best
William Seeberger I agree, Cummins are the best, but regardless of the engine the transmission aren’t good on Rams. At least from my experience
I get what your saying
Mjm9307 nah duramax fo sho
FYI: Scotty Kilmer. Since 2014 the Dodge Rams equipped with 8speed transmission are not gas hogs, & the Motors and transmissions are not junk.
Yeah but the Italian made diesels from that era are a disaster.
Thank you. The 5.7 averages 24 on the highway combined with that 8 speed
Some people just don’t care about facts. Read Consumer reports.
Agree. Still own and drive daily an '06 Titan & '06 Armada, with 200k, and 325k miles respectively! Also have a 2017 Titan XD Cummins.
@@cadcamfreak hows the XD treating you?
Looking at a 2012 V8 Nissan Titan with 128k miles for $14,600. Any advice? Or should i just go with Toyota. 1st truck purchase ever. Thanks.
@@thebigbucktheory5488 thanks for the advice. I actually went to look at it, ready to buy cause the frame looked solid and the alternator was shot. So couldn't test drive. I got over 500000 miles on my 07

My sister leased a Dodge Ram and during that lease they had to replace the transmission. That memory has been in my mind forever!
All Dodge trucks have weak transmissions that's a well known fact!!!
I love dodge but the transmissions are complete junk and I'm done with them. My first 02 got total then got a 99 transmission goes out at 200000 got a 98 and at 198000 transmission goes out. Got a 04 at 188000 transmission goes out and takes the transfer case out too. All in 10 years. And I only haul alittle sheetrock and paint. Im trading in this junk for a Toyota tundra
My 2009 Silverado with a 5.3l V8 gets 15mpg and has 301,800 miles on it and it rides smooth over bumps.
I'm a Toyota nut but the Chevy 350 is a fantastic engine. It's cheap, reliable and has a great aftermarket.
I just bought a 2019 Silverado. I'm loving it so far. It's bigger then my 2006, but far more advanced and best of all I get no less then 5 more MPG's.
5.3 is 326 cubic inches ..
5.3 is a bulletproof engine.
You basically throw those things away after 100k miles
With the exception of my 2007 Jeep Liberty, for some reason this mf is still running like a dream after 180k miles, every single one of the lights are on at all times but it’s still running somehow lmao
I have had a 2013 Chrysler 300c for 3 years and haven’t once spent anything besides oil and tires
About 90 percent of those instagram females drive Jeeps, even my ex-girlfriend had one, she bought a brand new one, heard it's now in the auto shop with a broken axle!!! Lmfao!!!
He'd be right. Worst to best. Chrysler, Ford, GM
Had a jeep before
Never any problems!
It's amazing how many RAM owners swear by them though. All of them say how reliable they are. "I've got 150k miles on mine and had zero issues". I just don't believe it. Scotty is spot on....Chrysler makes beautiful LOOKING cars and trucks. They just don't build quality into them,
I think the ram hype has largely been due to the Cummins engine.
@@jarrettbellboy I can say this my My Dad truck a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.2 V8 are pretty reliable he got it at 160k to 250k til that car accident. He have the 2003 with 5.9 V8 and that truck is odd reliability.
If I lived in road salt land where anything is rusted out in 6 years, I'd probably consider one, but if you plan on holding on to one, no way.
I had a 1999 Ram, always had electrical gremlins and a minor seal leak in the back window
Ironically I've always had problems with Fords, I've settled with an early 2000s Silverado and it's worked pretty well so far
Jaba Dahut wow usually Chevy is trash and fords are good

(I have an '89 F-250 and a '96 F-150, it was much more comfy)
As far as transmissions go, I fell in love.
Snake Eyes doubt
Mine has a 3 speed plus overdrive. Works for me. I prefer a solid torque curve over peak horsepower. Although, better gas mileage at highway speeds while towing would be nice.
Snake Eyes and go through 5 starters between now and 200,000
Hey Scotty I got 287,000 miles on my Chrysler transmission love my ram!! And I tow 35,000 pounds lol

My coworker has a Silverado 3500 Dually. Pulled a damn f350 dually out of a ditch in 2 WHEEL DRIVE
Dodge trucks were not made in 2015. Last year was 2010. They are RAM now. If you went through 4 transmissions in a year you are doing something wrong.
Dodge has been making trucks since 1917.
Yes as Dodge Brothers. Or you could say 1929 or so if you go by when Chrysler bought Dodge Brothers and put Chrysler motors in them.
He’s talking about ram
Chevrolet has been making trucks since 1918 so Scotty needs to get his facts straight. Chevy, Ford, and Dodge have been making trucks long before he claims they have
Scotty never mentions the problems Ford has had with the triton engines.Ill keep my Silverado 5.3 and put another 200k on it.
He's talking about the newer trucks
Your silverado with rusted through brake lines and weak rear ends?
they all have their problems, stop crying and just keep driving what you like. 🤷♂️

I've always been curious about those big straight sixes. They say they are a true truck engine. They look easy to work on, as well. I drive a 93 f250 7.3 idi, and it isn't always as easy to fix as one would think. Dang turbo gets in the way all the time.
