    Miter saw works best for cutting PVC or any plastic piping, Nice Straight Cuts. I'm sure someone has helped you with that already, but that's how I was taught, and then just use some sandpaper to smooth off the burs like you mentioned. GREAT JOB!!

    You should always dry fit your pvc pipe and connections first. Once you have them fitted exactly how you want them, mark the alignment of every piece with registration marks. Then you can pull them apart and glue them up. Easy!

    It's crazy how similar Canada seems to America until you say things like "hydro". This is my first time watching and that threw me for a loop. I was surprised to see the transformer on a build on raw land. Many americans opt for solar because hooking up to grid often costs 10s of thousands, similar to the cost of off grid solar with batteries. What does it cost to get it run in Canada? How far is the run?

    • @SimpleLivingwithBiata
      @SimpleLivingwithBiata  Год назад

      Hahah that’s 100% my bad, I’ve called it hydro all my life so it’s hard to say “electricity”! It was a really tough decision going with Electricity vs solar!
      A half decent solar system is $30,000-40,000 CAD here and a generator to run your house in the winter (when we don’t get enough sun) can cost $10,000-25,000. Or you’re adding in a wind turbine!
      Then you’re replacing your battery bank every 5-10 years and replacing your panels every 15-20 years.
      At the end of the day it will cost a similar amount. One you pay all upfront (and then repair and replacement fees) and one is partly upfront and a monthly bill (with no repair or replacement fees)
      We chose the option that would have the best resale value for our area if we decide to move one day and start a new build!

    Maybe consider adding Y-pieces at the ends of the main pipes with a plug. So you can open the pipe and flush/pressure clean it. This could be quite helpful if it ever gets clogged or drains slowly. Going through u-bends or 90° angles doesnt really work for this purpose.

    Why you us in 4" for the underground in the house?Seems to me you have way to many pipes and traps coming through the concrete.Glad I didn't draw up the plumbing schematic. Well good luck .Was that crushed stone your putting around the pipes not pea stone?

    • @SimpleLivingwithBiata
      @SimpleLivingwithBiata  Год назад

      4” is required by code in our area for your main line and toilets! And stone isn’t required under our pipes so I just used crushed because it compacts better for the foundation!
      There’s so many pipes coming up because I went overkill on the venting. There’s a vent for every fixture because we went with 1.5” vents so we don’t have to make the walls wider (we’d have to upgrade to 2x6” walls with 2-3” vents). And with 1.5” vents you have to have your vents closer to your drains! Which means I require more of them.
      And there’s 4 traps that are required under the concrete: one for the utility drain, one for each shower and the bathtub

      @@SimpleLivingwithBiata hey biata I was reading your reply to this comment and (I don't have a life lol) you said you guys chose to use 1" 1/2 vents because Im guessing you want to use 2×4 for the walls and I was wondering what type of insulation you were going to use?
      if you use fiberglass insulation you will need 2×6 for higher r value and to pass inspection but if you're going with spray foam you should be good with 2×4's

    What is the 4 inch trap for ? The only reason to have a 4 inch trap is for a floor drain nothing else on the 4 inch pipe could possibly need a trap. Toilets don’t require a trap because there is a trap built into every toilet you absolutely do NOT want a trap on a toilet also where 2 inch pipe goes into 4 inch the 4 inch T needs to be at at least a 45 degree angle up to keep water and sewage from backing up into the 2 inch pipe. I saw several mistakes.. that being said I’m pretty impressed with both your ambition and for the most part you did great have a plumber friend or and inspector come look before you go to far. Ground plumbing is not easy to do …I still give you an A

    • @SimpleLivingwithBiata
      @SimpleLivingwithBiata  Год назад +2

      Hey there,
      There’s a 3” trap for the utility room drain! Utility room drain is 3” by code and requires a trap so smells don’t back up into the utility room!
      No traps in the toilets, as you said, they’re built in!
      And there shouldn’t be any backing up if there’s a 1/4” per foot of fall!
      All 4x4x2” Ts are vertical for venting. There’s some 4x4x2” wyes that are for showers going into the main sewage line that have 1/4” fall per foot so shouldn’t back up!
      Inspection is next week and plumber friend reviewed it!
      Thanks for watching!
