I remember when I was in the Navy our "Pubs" or manuals had bold or highlighted warnings and cautions and the saying was that most of them were written in blood so not only was it in our best interest to be especially careful to follow them we were also honoring the person who was killed or injured to discover the problem and create the warning.

When I worked the beat as a LEO 2010 was my last year , I wore rifle rated body armor. Some of the other officers thought I was a bit crazy but the stakes are high. God bless this fallen officer and his family. 🙏🏻

I'm a close friend of his sister his sister in Hawaii. She is devastated but was also amazed to see the outpouring of support from law enforcement and the community as she shared the funeral procession video with me. I hope that she and her family find peace and healing. Prayers
Thai helped me get on the department. I have since moved on . But he was a great cop and a great guy. Never thought it would be him.

Tragic. This happened about 3 months ago. I went to school with the perp and knew him well. That was 8 years ago though. Things change. Prayers to the officer's family. Big respect to all of our brothers and sisters in blue 🙏🏽

Then you should learn that this road pirate illegally put his hands into private property and assaulted a citizen. That citizen defended himself and that road pirate earned the retaliation. Never handcuff anyone unless they're violent. You don't have the right. Treat people as you would as if they were your mother and guess what, you'll reduce your chances of being hurt in the line of duty because you're not acting like a violent psychopath earning the hate and retaliation.
Don't let the veterans or any of them intimidate you into violating rights or committing crimes...it's easy to do...to "get" the guy...but it can come back to haunt you in many ways. Learn the law and follow the law...if it's really a bad guy...there will be other chances
John, your lesson on spiritual fitness is in my opinion, the most important lesson that you teach. These other lessons regarding operating in defense of your life are huge, but just as these lessons regarding emotional and physical fitness go, they can never replace being prepared to meet your maker. This cop pulled a bad card, but if he was listening to your lessons on spiritual fitness I’m sure he went where he ought to go. I wake up every day and don’t know where I’m going necessarily. I pray that others find your message and choose to make it a priority to go where we all want to go. I pray someday that I make it to the same place

Mike, I agree 100% with the rear window. I tell all of my rookies that you never cross over that C pillar if you can't see into the rear seat of the vehicle. Stop at that C pillar and call out to the driver to roll down the rear window.
I hope his family is doing okay. God be with each person effected by this selfish behavior that took this man from his family and friends. Praying for all who are morning his loss.

I worked with a Thai a few times working some higher level armed security in that part of the city, he was very professional and a lot of the officers I know that work that area command have nothing but good things to say about him. Sad to say the domestic started on a property we work, it's the same place the female LVMPD officer was shot at. RIP Thai EOW 10/13/22

Most people are religious because as kids they were told all of these things and told to believe it or else. Yet if you really break down the bible, there are absolutely horrific passages that definitely don’t paint god as a moral or even good being. You can take a step back and look into origins and claims yourself and that is when it all really falls apart and you realize that even the remote possibility of god that I would not want anything to do with that murderous villain in the sky.

As for the part about the human relationships with Officer Thai: I would agree. He'd been with the department for 20 years, and was an instructor(at least for a time) in the department. He was held in such high regard that there was a HUGE procession for his funeral. Messages honoring his memory were put up all over town, and even on road safety signs. I don't think anyone could let the 3 helicopters flying in formation during the procession across town go unnoticed either.

Since we are talking about this. I simply do not understand at all why the felony stop sop's stopped being used. You stop the car, you demand over the pa roll down window, place both hands out the window, you then direct off hand or left hand to remove the keys from ignition and place them on the ground or roof, you then instruct both hands out the door window, then off hand left to open the door and return both hands on the door through window in plain sight, opening door now, then face forward, step out, facing forward place both hands behind your head, walking back to the rear of the car, kneel down, then you advance and cuff the suspect. The lack of use of the pa as well as this lets walk up onto a running vehicle seems to be the big problem with todays leo's. The felony stop was designed to keep you coming home and alive, placing all the risk of death on the subject. If they do not wish to comply with the instructions, tear gas, the car. This in my opinion was a failure in procedural execution of the old felony stop procedures in the 90's. There was also a failure to stop the subject in the CVS parking lot, that was pathetic. Rest in peace officer but please survivors stop ignoring what previous leo's knew and used daily.
Over the course of a 29 year career, I can count on one hand (and have fingers left over) the number of times a "textbook, just like we were trained in the academy" felony stop resulted in suspects complying with commands. A textbook felony stop requires all participants (including suspects) to follow the script. How may people do you see that are complaint these days? And tear gassing a vehicle? I've NEVER seen an instance where patrol officers tear gassed a vehicle. What department issues tear gas and launchers to patrol?
