Cannot believe how much of an impact this made, thank you so much for the upload! :)
You're welcome! Always happy to help
Has made a massive differance. Thanks for the quick and easy to follow video
It works! Thanks man! I don't know why no one has made a video about this issue before.
😄 I dunno man. Took some searching but I'm glad I could help out. I would really appreciate a share, I'm trying to grow this channel.
Excellent tip! I"ll be implementing this!
Glad it was helpful!
Wow you’re amazing - this is what I was looking for. Sub coming your way!!
Thanks! Appreciate the sub
Thank you so much!
Wow. Important video! Subscribed!!!
Thanks for the sub 😁
@@terr20114 BTW: Downloading the Static Version would not give the wished for effect?
Thank you!
You're welcome Cleiton 😁👍
Hi Terrence nice find....there does not seem to be shared versions for MAC os in the given link(S). Also what if we already have the full ffmpeg version installed... will that cause issues? Further more would this work for Fusion inside Resolve or just for the standalone Fusion version. Thanks ;)
What is the difference between static & shared? The why is always important
Thank you!!!!
You're welcome!
Thank you! I have tried it for Davinci resolve 17 but it didnt help. there are 2 more - edittempates and templatesfusion, deleted them but it didnt help as well, any advice?
Hi, sorry for the late response. Did you every get this resolved? I am able to use it in resolve 17
@@terr20114 hi there! I just got a better PC and used some standard things to speed it up, compared to how the other filmmakers workflow goes, and mine seems to be ok.
Does this help on the actual rendering time when exporting projects??
I haven't tested that but I doubt that it would increase the render speed.
I have the same exact problem, but unfortunately this solution doesn't work for me. It seems like nothing changed after the ffmpeg install.
Also can't find the zeranoe shared ffmpeg build anywhere. So it might be that I have downloaded a version that doesn't really work as expected?
I take that back.
I found the same build as the one I have downloaded, only this time it had "shared" at the end of the name.
Now everything works flawlessly!
When I try to do this ... I can't add the FFMPEG as a path... It doesnt add the folders location ... its grayed out.
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
how did you go about figuring out this fix?
Could you also share what happens during playback after applying this fix
I did some digging online, search a lot of forums. I don't even remember where I got it all but I found it somewhere. I think I showed some playback in the video. Didn't I?
@@terr20114 what I meant to ask was, what was the change that happened behind the scenes during playback that made it smooth.
Can someone explain the technical reason behind why compositing programs often have this issue while editing programs can play the same footage smoothly?
You know I've been trying to figure out the same thing. I don't get it myself. I can look into it more though.
just taking a stab in the dark here, but being that MP4 is based on QuickTime, it could've been one of those ridiculous feuds companies get into with each other and at one time shake may have been a direct competitor with fusion. doubt thats the reason but maybe
I just did this for Fusion inside DaVinci 18 but it didn't resolve the problem. Fusion is still choppy as hell. In edit mode everything is smooth. Any idea why this fix may not be working for me?
I've tried 5 different ffmpeg version now. First I tried the one behind the "New Link:" in the video description but that one didn't work for me. It doesn't say shared so I figured maybe it's the wrong one so tried 4 others, different shared versions, the essentials version. Nothing is working for me.
Hey Paul. I have been looking into this recently. I’m not sure when but at some point using ffmpeg just became ineffective. These days, to get smooth playback I just work inside fusion then once I’m done I go back to the edit page, let it cache out (pretty fast) and watch it in real-time.
It’s very frustrating. I’m not sure why fusion page playback is this terrible lately. Once I find a fix I’ll be making a new and updated video.
@@terr20114 Ok looking forward to that video. Right now I don't even want to mess with / learm Fusion because the experience is so horrible. I hope there'll be a fix of some kind. Weird that a company that big has such a glaring issue in their app and that it's not a bigger more brought up issue within the community.
Ah it's me still. I see I replied with my channel account. Anyway, I was wondering. What did you refer to specifically in terms of letting the video cache in the edit page? Which setting is that? I may give that a try as well if i don't have it enabled yet. Thanks.
Hi trying to repeat this but the links has changed can you please look at it again.
Hey there, I have added the link to the description. Here it is: www.steakunderwater.com/wesuckless/viewtopic.php?t=1775
Sorry, wrong link: www.gyan.dev/ffmpeg/builds/ffmpeg-git-full.7z
I mean this is for h264 Videos. Normaly you will get transcoded Footage as a Compositor. But nice tipp.
yeah it definitely helps when I work with so much h264 videos these days
not everyone who uses fusion is working in a professional environment where assets are prepped.
@@flipnap2112 That's a fact
Background music name?
Honestly don't remember. I got it from the RUclips audio library... after searching for LOFI I think. If I find it I will comment
it's easy to find. Thank you

@@Tuttigiu Awesome man! Thanks
How can I do that for OS X?
You can! 😁 There are options to download for Mac, Windows and Linux 01:03
@@terr20114 There does not seem to have SHARED versions for OSX?
And I already have ffmpeg installed... so wondering if installing a shared build will work weel with thatt...thanks
The option You hit is no more there... I am a rooky so... any update?
Hey There. Which of the options are you talking about?
@@terr20114 Well I did my work around and download another option and do the thing... So far so good! Thanks :)
@@JoseSpenaN That's great! I'm glad you found something that works. Sorry I've been MIA lately. I'm back now.
@@terr20114 Not worry!! hey you know what confuse me! when I start a new composition like a motion graphic on Fusion studio I choose where to save it... Yet, with VFX Connect Clips (Resolve + Fusion) it gets kind or weird because default save them on the cache path... So it would be nice like a both ways tutorial for workflow when you go from resolve to Fusion studio...
And if you are wondering why I use Resolve with fusion studio, well, some motion graphics needs to be sync with audio, so I export in .wz the section of audio I will animate in fusion and I can be on sync due Fusion on Resolve do not playback audio.
Just an idea I fugure out erasing a hole animation by not knowing LOL!
@@JoseSpenaN so what exactly did you download? im on a Mac and can't seem to figure this out.
