  • In this simple Blackmagic Fusion tutorial we go though how to quick and easily add textures to objects in your 3d scene. We briefly cover illumination models and how to wire up textures from maps provided by websites like megascans.se. After this tutorial you should have some familiarity with the workflow of making your 3d scenes look more realistic by using textures and materials.

Specular and roughness are based on alpha not luma. You have to pipe them through a channel booleans node with the alpha set to Red BG to create an alpha channel from the luma.

I recencly bought a studio dongle. Resolve 15 is just the best Video+Motion Graphics tool that runs in linux.

Very good explanation! It basically covers everything you need for materials in Fusion! Thanks!

    Thanks, thanks, thanks.
I really need to get up and running with Fusion 15 :).

Great explainer for wiring up materials nodes. When trying to learn materials in fusion it always feels more like a chore than artistic freedom making me wish fusion had builtin matcap support.

Great tutorial. I'd like to see a tutorial on 3D Projection, for when you want to paint out rigging in a moving camera shot.

I knew with all the Blender tuts you came out with that you'd put out a video like this soon. :) Good stuff man. PS I hear you. I use Cook- Torrance too.

I know you don't like fair light, but a quick video on some simple techniques to get better audio results would be most appreciated. Thanks for the vids

Amazing! Thanks. How would you create a invisible floor that would show a shadow and reflection that we can 3d track into a scene ? Huge thanks!!!

Easiest is a separate render passes of shadows and reflection then merge or channel boolean.
For 3D also the visibility|matte|unseen settings and then a overide 3d (3Ov) but I can't figure out if there's a combo that will work with singe pass for something like this.

for some reason when I apply a texture to an object it doesn't fully render, what am I doing wrong? I've tried multiple materials.

When I attach my Diffuse material to the cube, my cube's walls literally split apart. It's like somethings pushing out from inside. Do I need to unwrap it or something?

These days Blender (with Eevee) is the WTG for motion graphic volumetrics because it can do them in real time on fairly modest hardware.

I would like to see a cool motion graphic tutorial in Blender. All the cool MoGraph is in C4D, and that makes me sad. Make me happy Steve!

Maybe you can check out what Zach Hixson does with Animation Nodes in Blender.
