I hope people watch this video to the end. Your work is phenomenal, your teaching method is great and your results are very useable in a few easy steps. I enjoy your work and your comedy. I'm not certain most viewers recognize how important to compositing and post production this video is. I know I didn't until I was under the gun and found EXACTLY what I was looking for. You are in the top 10 RUclips/Davinci Resolve Instructional Vloggers! Thanks so very much Casey!
Man, I'm so happy I found your channel searching for Davinci related stuff! Not are you only a master teacher but your videos are entertaining, dynamic and funny. All thumbs up and a big thank you for your effort!
YOU are the BOMB!!! THANK you for NOT speed talking and for explaining everything so very well. There are many moving parts here, and you took the time to demonstrate and explain it all. Now, impossible? No such thing!
Quite impressed with how well this worked. I also really like how you explain the thinking behind the process rather than just say "select this, click there, enter this number, etc. etc. etc."
After watching at least 50 of you excellent videos, I finally realize your personality reminds me of Ryan Reynolds, but way more natural. Keep up the great tutorials.
I'll be honest... I just recently bought your Intro to Davinci Resolve program because I'm new to videography and editing. How does anyone who's serious even get to that point? You film something. You decide to edit it. So you download a software like Davinci Resolve and play with it for a day or two. Then you decide you need help! I bought the program and honestly felt bad about it based on the "Barney" level instruction... but wait... that was until I got to the fusion and color grading portion. Then I couldn't be thankful enough for the "barney" style approach. That being said, the more and more I watch your content. The more examples I see in your instruction style. The more I realize I will be a Davinci stylist for the foreseeable future and will build the foundations of what will be my business off of the things I learn from you. Thank you, Casey for taking the time, energy and effort to make content that makes ANYONE feel like they can turn a hobby into a 6-7 figure business. Much respect!
An alternative to this is to use the steady mode in the tracker, then paint / clone stamp your footage. Next copy the tracker and run the paint node output into it, now use the nu-steady footage check box to invert the tracking data. This will clone stamp every frame so you keep texture, grains, and any lighting changes. In this set up its important to track and steady the object you want to paint, you want it to look so steady when played that it looks like a freeze frame.
Thank you so much Casey. This is the most unique tutorial on cloning most effectively and the only one you need for any form of cloning!!I have scourged through the youtube for hours but your tutorial is the best and most easy!!!!keep up the awesome work Casey..YOU ROCK!!!
Finally jumping in to make science youtube videos to help elementary school science programs and I didnt even know how to start making something even remotely professional (SciShow, Veritasium, V-Sauce). While I have a lifetime of information to learn, your videos and free downloads to follow on give me hope.
you're such a good youtube personality. something which could be considered mundane was super interesting and fun to watch. Thanks, definitely going to watch more
Dude, I love you, you helped me grasp this entire program in one night only, I love you, you legend. If you ever come to South Africa, my farm is your oyster for adventure! You legend.
thank you for being a awesome teacher as soon as I can afford your course I am buying it your one of or the best DaVinci Resolve teachers I have found here on you tube and your helping me help my disabled self become the best editor I can be and I can not thank you enough.
Im actually glad you chose something difficult to clone out, other tutorials will clone out the EASIEST things like someone standing in the middle of something with a plain easy to clone background.
Holy cow, I just used this to clone out a bridge in a forest behind a person all hand held by combining it with magic mask in Resolve 17. Crazy. Great tutorial, thanks.
This one is so much fun to do! I'd really like a tutorial how to do this if the object we need to clone out is moving, like a person walking through a scene or similar scenario! Great content Casey!
I second this^^ The video is incredibly helpful thank you! I've been struggling to remove something that is leaving the frame due to the camera panning. is there any way to key that out without my tracker going wild?
Just amazing - following along it took me a little while, but in the process I learned a lot more about how Fusion organises effects. After a few goes I had it down. Thank you so much for taking the time to do these videos - just so incredibly helpful.
I was a compositor back in early 2000s (oddly enough using fusion when it was Eyeon product) and now I find myself getting back into it with Resolve and i have to say i LOVE your videos. 10 out of 10! Keep them coming :)
Thank you for this one. I am very familiar with the Photoshop clone tool, so I am glad to see those skills will work here. I have never tried using the tracking tool, so this will be a good entry point. Also, points for using Star Trek music with a Star Wars reference and a Battlestar Galactica cylon. Crossing the streams can be fun!
Holy shit. That was beautiful to watch. I found it really hard to follow the steps for selecting the various nodes and how to connect them and the logic behind why they are connected that way. Could you point me to some previous tutorials that would lead me up to understanding this one? This is amazing.
Hi there, first I wanna say thank you, for all your really great tutorials. They actually help! Second I hope you excuse my "not so good" English. I'm using DaVinci free, for about three weeks now, cutting a short movie. Here is my problem: We have a pretty long shot, with two people, walking into the sunset. Yeah, I know, it's a clichee and it is ment to be one... ;) Filming into the sun, means lens flares. Most of them are ok, but there is one green, looking more like a sphere, wich is also "pulsing" two times in the whole shot. The camera is standing on a tripod, so I startet to "clone" it away. It worked. NOW to the real problem: At the end of the shot, two actors are walking through my correction, making DaVinci to "clone them into" my correction. So there are parts of their clothes "flashing" up in the background. I can't explain it better, sorry. My Idea would be, to keyframe from now on and correct any frame. Like pasting the people over the flare. Is there a better/easyer way? Greeting, V.
Great job! Thank you! I have a shot where the actor moves around the frame and has sweat marks on her dress, plus the size of the spot changes. Do you have any suggestions on how to approach this task?
So helpful! I got lucky and didn't have to track anything for my first clone project tonight. But WOW, it was easy after watching your tutorial. Thanks once again, Casey!
Thank you so much, I’m learning tNice tutorials in quarantine and you made it very simple I really appreciate it, thank you for going over every little
Thanks so much for this informative video. I followed the steps getting rid of myself in my drone footage and worked a treat. Saved in my library of useful tips, thanks man!
hey casey, love your tutorials! Any videos on how to extend a vfx file to play across the screen? I'm trying to get the birds to fly across the screen not fly in one place and not going anywhere. have a great day
The good part was the painting job, for the 'rough it in' approach, it went shockingly well. Good job there. The rest of it makes me glad that I am not a beginner in video production because it was a rather bad way of doing things and I would have just accepted it as the right way. Just some honest feedback.
Can you do a video with fusion on the free version? I'm considering getting davinci Resolve and I don't know if its possible to use fusion or any of the 3d tools on free version. If theres any way please show me
Hi Casey, thank you so much for your video! I was wondering if we wanted to clone out multiple items in the same video how we do that? Or if anyone can shed some light? Thank you!
I'm impressed - been looking for a solution for days and it was so simple! However, how to I stop it for other frames? I only want to clone something out in some chunks of the video, not all
Casey! Great appreciation for your amazing tutorial! But I'm experiencing some difficulties. I have a warping screen if I appy the nodes same as yours. What should be done to fix this?
i was looking through youtube to find yours video finally :D this one solves my problems of learning how to clone properly. i mean - the easy stuff i am capable of. thank mate! i was mainly struggling with the frame not being copied to the rest as well. will you make a video about the studio FX - object removal and other similar tools?
Check out the FREE 9 Nodes course: www.groundcontrol.film/9-nodes-workshop
You have just saved an entire short film, dude!
I'm about to cry 😭
Was it a Starbucks cup?

Learning Resolve is the most fun I've had since learning to play drums 30 years ago! Thanks for explaining all of the incredible things Reolve can do.

@@sergentboucherie thanks I’ll have to learn about what you are suggesting. I’m pretty new to Davinci.

You are the best of the best. 👍🏼 Thanks for helping me improve my editing process.
not bad for the footage you are using, but what if I have more dynamic lighting where using a still breaks the illusion?
Great job! Thank you! I have a shot where the actor moves around the frame and has sweat marks on her dress, plus the size of the spot changes. Do you have any suggestions on how to approach this task?

Very nice tut! So many ways to do things in DR, trying to determine which way is often an issue.
Hey, Casey as usual you did pretty well. Keep doing such amazing stuff. Thank a lot

I liked Clone Wars, and I liked this tutorial. This is the way
Really great video. Thanks for doing this. How would I do this same thing for two different areas in the same clip?
Amazing tutorial, and with TWO cases... Great!!!

“That movie with the space ships.”... Not gonna lie; that hurt a little bit. 😂 Great tutorial

Casey, you are the best.
Amazing job once again! I really like how you summarized the steps a second time. Thank you!
Yeah, I video of when and where to use the different tracking nodes would be awesome!

Hi Casey, thank you so much for your video! I was wondering if we wanted to clone out multiple items in the same video how we do that? Or if anyone can shed some light? Thank you!
Isn't there some way to vote Casey to be the #1 of all RUclips tutors? After watching this I have the urge to put that medal on him.
Thanks dude. Great tutorial
That's actually amazing
Simply amazing!
I'm impressed - been looking for a solution for days and it was so simple! However, how to I stop it for other frames? I only want to clone something out in some chunks of the video, not all
Really nice! I didn't quite understand the whole thing but love the tutorials!
Casey! Great appreciation for your amazing tutorial!
But I'm experiencing some difficulties.
I have a warping screen if I appy the nodes same as yours.
What should be done to fix this?
Is the tracker set to perspective? That may warp/distort the frame(s). Try different Motion Types.
Easy as pie, indeed! I've got to practice now
Nice tutorial! Thanks a lot!
Drag the volu for the setuper track that you're recording into all the way down.
Awesome tutorial - thanks for sharing 👍
nicely done and well explained for us dummies lol
saved for later use. Thanks Casey
You sir are a wizard!! 🤯
Another great, easy to follow, video. Thank you. Fun to watch too. Off topic, how do change your voice like you did at the beginning of the video.
Awesome! Thank you, very helpful! Thank you for pointing out about free version!
Excellent video! These little tips really help.
