    When you are in the Fusion page bottom right you will see a percentage and a RAM amount, you can right click that to purge your comp’s cache and have a few more options, sometimes in Fusion the cache gets confused and it will show a mix of cached and uncached elements together

    First tip was very helpful and probably why I’m have issues with smart mode. I set to quarter and smart but what happens sometimes is this.. After the smart render is done, when I start to make certain changes, it seems like is stores the new cache with the old one and playing both at the same time. So i get strange colors, weird lines, or completely black screen. Then I have to disable smart, delete cache, then re-enable smart and re-cache for it to play right.. I have been working counterproductive to how the cache works this whole time..🤯

    Hello from NZ Patrick, thanks for sharing your hacks. Could you please do a video (sorry if you've done already), about setting up good habits for organising and naming cache folders for projects so we know what we're deleting? I know you mentioned DR regenerates new cache clips (mind blowing) but I feel like I need to evolve with DR and be more responsible and respectful, rather than grinding on one new project after another, only to find myself back on YT hunting for a solution. I've been doing this since DR7 lol. Also, thanks for getting straight to the point in your videos. And your humour is refreshing during stressful times...

    • @PatrickStirling

      Absolutely. While the Color Render cache is functionally that since the color page is the last link in the processing chain, that's a little more confusing and I think it still requires you to select the option for individual slips in the context menu...

    it does not seem to be possible editing with proxies set to quarter resolution and having render cache active at the same time. Once you activate render cache it renders at full resolution. If you have a scene where you can't playback smoothly even with quarter resoluaiton proxy you can only use render cache. That works for this scene, but you then need to switch back to proxy quarter resolution and this scene will stutter although it has been pre-rendered.

    so what do you actually delete when you delete cache? isn't it dangrous to losing data of the cutting process or someting?

    • @PatrickStirling
      @PatrickStirling 7 месяцев назад

      You are deleting the video files that are generated to give you smoother Playback on the timeline. Those files aren't used in export unless you specifically tell it to, and deleting them should only really slow you down if you're cutting a video with lots of heavy effects, but then you'll just have to wait until the cache for those specific files regenerates.

    • @bobstark8749
      @bobstark8749 Год назад +1

      It shouldn't. DR will recreate the cache files according to your particular settings. I had to do that too. My cache drive was full and I cleaned out a bunch. Check your project backup settings for backing up as you make changes. This will ensure your project is backed up and you can pick up where you left off. If you have to load your project from an earlier backup you should be good to go if your media files are all in the same place. I had to do that too. :)

      Yes, it does makes a difference (imo). Use ssd drives for your cache files if you can. A separate ssd drive for your cache files would even be better. SSDs have faster read/write times than hdds. This is important for low latency response in the video editing and creation processes.

    I have noticed 'render cache format' is set to uncompressed 10-bit, hence likely why my cache is gargantuan size. I am going to explore (other YT tuts and experimenting).

    the render cache system, especially in combination with the proxies is one of the worst i have ever seen in a video editing software. Not being able to use the render cache if the proxy render resolution is not set to full it totally unacceptable and makes fast effect editing impossible. This is the only thing, that Adobe Premiere still handles much better.
