The 2024 Lexus TX is the newest luxury 3-row SUV to their lineup. It comes with 3 different powertrains with 3 personalities, but can it stray away from simply being called a fancy Toyota Grand Highlander? Check out Mike Danger's first drive to find out! #kbb

Looks like Mike recorded this whole episode all by himself. Impressive
Thanks! …and if you stick around for the credits, check out who was on the edit ☺️
Great job reviewing this vehicle. This will definitely stand out as a Lexus luxury 3-row; very tastefully done! Since this is Kelly Blue Book, sure you'll be able to tract the resale value on this when most of the others have fallen like a rock!
Great video Mike!
Thank you!
The best thorough and concise reviews on RUclips! Can’t wait for the PHEV review
Aw thanks for checkin it out, Ryan! Glad you enjoyed
I was able to buy a Grand Highlander limited hybrid. Loaded for $56k. 34 mpg. I would love a PHEV, but on the rare occasion one shows up at a Toyota or Lexus dealer, the markups are outrageous.
Great video Mike!😸
Thanks Ryan!!!
it just doesn't look like a Lexus..
Can’t wait for the full review of the new GX
An automotive engineer once said that the reason they picked and still stick with the spindle grill is that they wanted people to instantly know on sight what brand the vehicle is.
That front end doesn't look like a Lexus at all. Looks like something from SAIC, GAC or any other chinese car brand.
It looks like a Cylon. It just needs a red light going back and forth.
Very good review
Great presentation but I think the Mazda CX90 has more of an upscale presence. The TX looks like just another vehicle that Toyota is trying to move upscale.
I gotta disagree on this one. I saw a base CX90 on the freeway yesterday in white and I thought right there that the TX looked better. But they’re both GOOD looking cars imo.
That part
Great video, mid cycle refresh for the Highlander😊
@9:38 understood Mike, understood 😂
😂 I just had to let everyone know. That was my aggressive look 🤣🥳
The Lexus Texas huh?
😂😂😂😂
Hmmm 🤔🧐 why does that sound so familiar?😮
A Lexus Texas to be precise 😂
That’s Dr. Lexus Texas to you
I was able to get my hands on a Grand Highlander, but my real desire was to get the Lexus TX 550h+. The PHEV would fit my lifestyle a lot better and help me save gas. However, the Grand Highlander is like $30k less expensive than what I think the pricing will be for the TX 550h+. I am not sure if it is worth going from the Grand Highlander to this. The fit and finish and the quality feel similar to what I get in the Grand Highlander, and the GH has more practicality inside than the TX does. I have the platinum gas model of the Grand Highlander, and I keep kicking myself every time I have to look at the MPG for the thing. I really wanted the hybrid.
Excellent review as always, Mike Danger!
Thanks Panda! Nice Highlander buy! I was looking at those before I decided to grab my GX
@@yesmikedanger Daaaaaang! You got a GX? I haven't test drove one of those, but I hear people love it. I know people like it as much as they like the 4 Runner.
@@writingpanda i LOVE it. A 2022 and it Rides high, looks good, sounds great, and I can take it almost anywhere. I got the sport package for my approach angle is shat, and the gas mileage (coming from a 2016 prius…) is HORRENDOUS …but other than that it’s perfect for me since i’m not commuting often. 🤗
@@yesmikedanger I'm happy for you! 👍👍
All I want is they update the Nav so can remember your zoon level and orientation
Am I understanding it correctly when I say the plug in only has 6 seats? I don't want to buy a car of this size to seat 6. 7 is the minimum.
I can understand a 3 row middle and then 2 comfy seats in the back, but 6 is missing the point.
Me too. I can't stand the trend towards mandatory captains chairs on top trims.
So the Lexus TX350 isn't going to take out the Lexus LX600 right
No, LX is the flagship and much more luxurious. TX is a family hauler
Great
It’s giving ✨Lexus Grand Highlander✨
If Lexus made a proper minivan (ie sliding doors and huge cargo area) they’d sell like hotcakes. Lots of upper middle class folks are stuck driving Toyota Siennas like Uber/Lyft drivers, and would pay a premium for that differentiation.
lexus LM
Yeah the LM is CRAZY.
@@dukepaladin Why does Toyota deprive the 🇺🇸 market of the LM and the real Land Cruiser? Are they still sore about 1945?
Shoot. Now I need 5 jobs to buy the RX 550+ plug in because honestly that’s the only way to go 😊
I actually neither love nor hate the new grill
Nobody puts Danger in the third row. ~ Dirty Driving
Def looks like it’s made for an American market
A new or 1-2 year old x7 or GLS 450 might be a better value given the dealer markups. Toyota GH platinum looks more luxurious.
According to autotrader, you’re looking at $70-75k for a 1-2 year old CPO X7 and $80k+ for a GLS equipped with the same active safety tech that the TX comes standard with. Less space inside as well. Both the Germans will likely be quicker and be more engaging to drive, but will lose out on reliability, resale, and interior space. Not to mention losing out on part of the factory warranty.
Given all of the above, the TX550h for $75k is a tempting proposition. Even more-so is the GH Hybrid Max Platinum for $60k if you dont care about brand swag.
The palominos.... I see you Mike 👍🏿
Yeah buddy. I beat the hell outta of em out there but they were a lucky cop! Now I just gotta clean em 😅
Fun fact: that’s the only Lexus model made in the US, and is based on the grand highlander. Still a nice car though 👏
Looks like a Subaru accent
No way.
Just another nice vehicle with a $10K mark-up.
It looks like a rebadged version of a Toyota Grand Highlander
That's basically what it is lol
Seriously, where is Micah? Don't mind Danger doing reviews...just genuinely asking the question.
He has his own channel
@@adamboswell5533That’s a personal channel. Not for KBB reviews.
Aw thanks. He got a big promotion so he manages the videos and also makes an occasional cameo. He misses you all, I promise you.
@@yesmikedangerThanks!
I guess I’m lost at what this is. It looks like a fancy Grand Highlander (which is confusing in its own right).
Hey kbb bring more reviews by micah
It is an OK look but I like the roomy interior.
It needs the 3.5tt engine
Needs triple beams and no pano on top of the line 550+h? Cmon
Oh it’s a highlander with a Lexus badge
Target line 😂
Hey dude I know now , you're 6'4"👍👍👍👍
The new "Lexus Grand Pilot"?
The grill is not an improvement on the earlier spindles. And the more powerful one has a CVT. Wondering if there are any tech innovations over the Toyotas or much better switchgear or much better materials. It definitely doesn’t look premium / luxury. I think they could have done a bit more with the lower models for interior interest.
So it has the foot print of a minivan but with out the practicality and sliding doors
Actually if you think about it, Nissan copied Lexus stylings, the front aggressive headlight & back continuous tail lights have been with a Lexus style since 2019 starting with ES.
I just don't see how this is any more luxurious than a toyota. Lexus used to look and feel soooo much different than their toyota counterparts but recently, their interiors really don't look much different.
There are more soft touch material for sure but for the price I don’t think it’s worth it.
I also much prefer the Toyota infotainment system and steering wheels button
Go put your hands on a GL, open and close the door, watch how the sheet metal flops around, the TX is much more solid and refined, the GL has black cladding even on the limited and platinum, same platform but huge difference
This vehicle is too big, wouldn’t fit in my garage! The front isn’t bad, something to get used to.
it looks like an older 2016 Highlander. I'll still pick a Mazda CX 90 over this.
I think all of us would pick anything else over this rav4
I’d pick the gv80 xt6 MDX aviator telluride palisade qx60 cx90 xc90
Grand Highlander's cousin🎉
The overall design is commendable, but it's crucial to address the front fascia. The extended headlight design encroaching into the grille, combined with the contentious spindle grill design, appears to be a significant point of controversy and detracts from the aesthetic appeal.
That’s what makes Lexus Lexus though
It’s like you were trying to make the word count limit with that comment
I would,prefer a GX
It's too boxy tho
The TX350h is not the true hybrid that I had hoped it would be. The mileage is no better than the other variants. Disappointing!!!
But the mileage is better. I think 27mpg combined for the 500h versus 23 for the non-hybrid.
The dealership told me the hybrids are more about more power than better gas mileage- but it will same a few $$ for $10,000+
Good review. But such a Sad looking cross over. A very Lazy design IMO.
I want to like it but the front end still heavily looks like its a Grand Highlander 😬
Lexus Texas.
Does not look upmarket all...
This thing is heavier than the GH so less mpg in real world
IT'S A JOKE, A SMALL ENGINE FOR HUGE CAR
Such a drab all black interior. I absolutely hate it.
No more CVTs. They really should ditch them.
It's an eCVT which is completely different and extremely reliable.
@@parkerdalo3248 I am skeptical about the reliable part, but we will just have to wait and see in a few years. Hopefully it is better.
@@wiseguy3492 Toyota's eCVT design has been in use for like 25+ years....
@@ALMX5DP Do they have the same lag on the acceleration as standard CVTs?
@@wiseguy3492 nope.
Lexus Highlander or Lexus Grand Highlander
Yes this is the right step for Lexus, maintaining its way to stay well-made but extremely boring
looks like a highlander... like paying for economy plus
Fashionable?! Nothing about the interior or exterior styling says luxury. Such a generic lump.
Really?? I think the 500h (especially in person) looks pretty good.
That part
I agree though you need to see a car in person to be sure. Pics and videos are not always accurate to the real thing. And to all the people complaining about how this is rebadging, I think this is one of the most noticeable form of that from Lexus since the original ES250.
Meh…Toyota has become the modern day Ford when it had Lincoln and Mercury selling cars with a different badge for no reason.
This interior is not worth the price
Lexus is pushing for the mid SUV market?? Haha
They certainly did alright in the previous mid suv market with the RX.
@@ALMX5DP ah yes, I forgot RX and NX are in that same market. But for the front fascia, the TX line is great.
Yeah but unofficially, this can go up against the x7, gls, escalade, etc
I’ll get a Suburban for 3 kids
It's a tarted up grand highlander
I kind of miss the big *ss front grille now
Such an incredibly bland and uninspiring look. I absolutely hate the side profile from the A-pillars to where the hood meet.
The car was nice, but the announcer was not good.
Yeah he’s horrible. He should be LESS good looking, it’s really not fair ☹️
It looks like a strange mix of a Nissan Pathfinder and a Lincoln Aviator. Hard pass. Not nearly unique enough, and it looks like such a lazy design. Completely uninspiring and feels like it was designed by a committee over the phone. Almost looks like an afterthought
You’re right! It’s just a stupid reason to spend money on an expensive Grand Highlander
@@sdstang01the 550h plus is fine as hell though
Saw one video 😅but ok go off lol
@@sdstang01that’s incorrect from an engineering stand point there specifically with regards to the cabin NVH neoprene bump stops for sound dampening and road dampening. Far more power options as well, I think people should try to speak more objectively. You offer no facts and just feelings it’s boring.
@@LafemmebearMusic fact 1. It’s a Toyota Highlander wrapped in Lexus “engineering”. Fact 2, It’s the same architecture as other Toyota and Lexus cars. Fact 3, it’s a boring design that makes it look unappealing compared to other Lexus designs from current models.
Highlander with an L badge
L for loser luxury 😆
Looks like a Lincoln product 😐
Lazy rebadge
I lost any and all interest at “…three row.”
Lexus has really stop making luxurious vehicles since 2005.👎
Agreed. Lexus is no longer luxury or even premium. They’re just an unnecessary add on package for Toyotas. Lexus should just give up. They’ve become the next Infiniti and Kodak. Soon that brand will no longer exist
Natty v6 plug in hybrid and not a global car? I’m in.
You all know me on the internet so you know what I’m going to say 😂
This SUVs a total DUD. It’s already ran and it’s dead on arrival
I called it on June 8th that this was gonna happen and sure enough it did. Yet all of you are taking the credit for something I said before
You all know me on the internet talking like a fool, people just take a look at you as someone who's jobless.almost every videos bro get a job
Real indicator will be the sales numbers. Not sure if Lexus has differentiated this vehicle enough from its Toyota brother.
@@Simon-oq6ds the answer is they didn’t
