    I drove a 350 AWD today and it was a classic example of a car being more than the sum of its parts. Even with significantly less power than our XC90 Recharge, it was smoother, quieter and more comfortable. The transmission was actually quite good and the Lexus doesn’t get in its own way. The three row setup is perfection. Easily the best non-minivan space I’ve seen.

    Great review. I agree 100%, need to have 2nd row bench available all levels. No logic saying that those who want the bench don't also want the other features unique to the higher trims, and vice versa - big miss there. Also a bit more differentiation from the GH in the luxe, trim department would be good.

    Alex and Travis, My only disappointment with the TX is the lack of a model focused on mpg as we see in the Grand Highlander lineup. With the rather underwhelming 'performance' of the base TX 350 Turbo, they might just as well have offered the highly efficient, 245 hp, 2.5 Hybrid 350h powertrain. 🤨 If that powertrain is insufficiently luxurious, the suggestion 26:08 to use the old, 300 hp, non-plug in V6 Hybrid is very astute. 🤩🤩

    Nicely done design on this large vehicle and especially liking the front end. Also shout out to Travis for wearing a man's watch and bucking the RUclips trend!
    This vehicle would be perfect for the majority of shoppers looking for a luxury mini-van. Brand and styling becomes just a personal preference. We know many people buy cars for just styling alone and all these are pretty similar even though we know that generally, Toyota/Lexus will dominate the long-term reliability and the resulting resale values. I also find it a bit redundant to focus on "performance" in a 3-row minivan regardless what some auto-makers try to do. NO One should be expecting to corner carve especially with their families in the car.

  • @alwaysiyi272
    @alwaysiyi272 Год назад +15

    I’m not nearly as bothered by the styling as everyone seems to be, if they wanted it to be practical, it had to be boxy and I’ll take the boxy practicality over the traditional swoopy Lexus styling, idk if I’m too sold on the don’t end, I’ll have to see it in person. I also feel this has the least compromise when it comes to power, space and efficiency especially in that plug in hybrid trim. Nothing in this segment is gonna combine all 3 the way the TX does

    This disappoints in so many ways. The lack of features for $55k is surprising. Is there really models available with no sunroof, or is that just a preproduction omission. Both models were lacking it. But ultimately, this feels like 90's level rebadge. The exterior doors are actually identical to the GH, just full body color and the electric handles. And the interior, while I'm sure has nicer materials, it doesn't look more luxurious. And the fact that it's mostly black no matter what color you select doesn't help at all. It's not all about performance for alot of people. The TX is proving alot of you wrong, dealers can't keep them in stock as they get reserved before they even hit the lot. Families like mine need something that will fit up to 4 child seats comfortably and safely with anchors in all the right spots and cargo space. The TX checks those boxes while the GH along with many others doesn't due to 3rd row tether anchor locations... the MDX is comparable with 2nd row middle seat removed. Larger SUV's are too expensive, the American offerings have questionable reliability, other offerings depreciate 50% once you drive it off the lot... I like the MDX don't get me wrong but we are biased in our approach because our 03 es300 with 250k miles still drives great, the interior hasn't deteriorated, any repairs have been minor and expected with age like alternator, starter, headlight ballast, radiator hoses nothing else. Denso, aisin, and koyo parts can be found online very cheap... hope the TX lives up to the lexus reliability experience I've had with my es.

    The MDX Type S-Advance is not much cheaper than the TX 500h F-Sport Luxury and gets a lot less gas mileage. The closer you get to the top-end trim on both vehicles, the closer the prices get. Imo, the TX 500h F-Sport is better for the money when you consider the gas mileage and updated technology. I never liked wood trim on newer luxury cars, and I'm frankly glad the TX doesn't have it. I was hoping you would finally be the one reviewer to tell potential customers WHY the LX doesn't come with 2nd row bench seats in any of the nicer hybrid trims. All the car reviewers have done a poor job on this and don't even bother explaining the "why".
    I did the research myself and reached out to my local Lexus dealer. They explained that the hybrid battery in the 500h and 550h was designed to fit under the middle of the 2nd row and cannot be covered by a seat because of its heat venting requirements.
    What a bad design by Lexus! They make their largest family suv in history, and then don't even design it properly to offer enough seating for those large families in the higher trims families would actually want to buy. Lexus TX sales will suffer because of this idiotic seating design. Typical engineers thinking they are smarter than the end customer. Nobody who knows anything about cars will want an underpowered 4 banger in such a huge heavy suv. The 500h would have been the luxury suv 7 seater sweet spot. What a shame and waste because of poor research and development.
