The seats are nice for our smaller frames too. I can’t believe that guys lose those options with the 550 and gain a cvt. That was the deal breaker

I took a test drive of the 550h yesterday, the hybrid F Sport 3 version. I’ll appreciate any expert advice on the following problem. First, the brakes had a weird vibration when pressed down lightly at stop lights or turns in a normal city drive. It was not a smooth plush or a normal press down like in normal cars. It vibrated as if on a pebble road or there’s some mechanical problem inside. Then I asked the sales guy to drive and check while I sat on the passenger seat. On the passenger seat the floor had the same disturbing vibrating that cannot be termed comfortable at all. Finally upon parking back at the dealership the car cabin filled with a significant smell of burning and there was quite a bit of noticeable smoke out from the bonnet. This car was brand new, only about 30km on the odometer. Salesman said some other customers who had bought the car also complained about the burning issue but it probably subsided 0:13 eventually. I never had such an experience of many a brand new cars I’ve purchased. Is this a one car issue? I did not expect this from Lexus. PS. I also test drove a gas version, 400km driven new car but no such issues there. I welcome and look forward to your advice.
Finally, a new Hybrid that has the same performance specs as my 10year old Hybrid. Took long enough to finally catch up with 2014 technology. Maybe in 10 more years we'll see technology from 2024.
I want to like it, but the interior is a complete let down (especially coming from the company producing the LC). Sad when the Palisade Caligraphy looks better inside than a $20k more expensive Lexus.
Can something that only seats six be called the ultimate family hauler? I can't even count how often, as a parent of three, that more than six seats have come in handy. They really need a second row bench option in this trim.
Yeah absolutely NOT 😅 I test drove all and the mdx is trash. Small space weird looking interior tech and horrible resale value. If your looking for a good deal then go by a 10 year old highlander. If you're looking for quality the TX. Lemme know when you actually sit in a 3rd row TX to talk

Lastly, I think they should have put the hybrid engine in the tx 350 as baseline. Who wants 15k cheaper grand highlander beating them off the line?
Or yet, even the previous gen RX 450h v6 hybrid as well. You get good fuel economy, over 300 horsepower, and you still have the buttery smooth powertrain too
Agreed on all points. If Lexus already scrimped with the exterior changes, they should have really spiffed up the interior. The 350h with standard eAWD should also have been the base trim.

The price increase from choosing the gasoline-only option to upgrading to a hybrid seems excessive, approximately $10,000. Unless you strongly prioritize the smoothness at low speeds, this cost doesn’t seem justified by the benefits of the hybrid system. For typical annual driving distances of 10,000-12,000 miles, a premium of around $3,000 would be more reasonable.
@cultofmodernism8477 honesty, if the TX has the 3.5 V6 as the plug-in hybrid powertrain, they should have used the previous gen RX 450h as the base instead of a turbo 4 without hybrid. That would better justify getting a TX over a GH

Leather that's directly exposed to the sun doesn't last nearly as long as injection molded plastic. So depending on how long you're keeping the vehicle, you'll have to deal with buckling and bubbling. Lexus knows from experience what lasts and what doesn't, which is why they are tops in reliability. They've got it right with no leather on the top of the dashboard and the tops of the doors.
This car seems like one of the most halfhearted automotive rebadges ever. Toyota just didn’t differentiate this enough from the Grand Highlander imo. I’d say it’s probably best bought at a lower trim, so it’s somewhat close to GH price. At 70k though, that’s a lot for a gussied-up Toyota.
Yes, especially when the grand Highlander sounds like a tin can but people here seem obsessed with that stupid vehicle what we don’t need is all the ridiculous time wasted 0 to 60
The MDX has a more upscaled look, until you drive it and its not as refined, the MDX is not as smooth or as quiet..... I compared it to the RX when I bought my RX500h.. also the new Infiniti Q60 - as LOT more road noise and wind noise, hits bumps harder... When I drove the RX again the same day it was apparent which was the better vehicle... its Also more money............ It was no contest especially with the Infiniti, it really disappointed me as I was considering buying one... I looked at one of these TX at Lexus recently.. Too big for me, I dont need that size anymore as my kids are grown up, the RX for me is perfect, nimble, quick, smallish size even though Im 6'5" tall, it works great for me.. There is an issue with the fuel tank size, you run out of fuel and it says zero KM remaining, so you fill up, here in Canada its a 65 litre tank (17.1 gallons US) and you only get 45 litres before it clicks off... I dont understand this 20 litre discrepancy.. Overall the TX and RX are very similar, the seats are great, super comfy and sporty as well.. I love my RX and anyone buying the TX will love it as well Im sure..
I hate the skinny wheels I got inside a new TX 550 and it was kind of tight the second row wasn’t as spacious as I thought it would be in person. Last but not least the interior felt cheap and plastic every where soft touch plastic isn’t luxury. For a Lexus it’s a miss and the new GX is even cheaper feeling and smaller inside smh .
I see so many people saying the x7 is nicer....of course it is. It's also a lot more expensive when optioned out. Are there really that many people cross shopping these? If you have the money for the x7, I can't imagine really considering this over that unless you are just really, really concerned with reliability.
Let me rephrase your question Do you want a gussied up Camry on stilts with 3 rows which describes the TX, or do you want a real luxury suv with real luxury car underpinnings, design, luxury, and features, which describes the Acura? I think you’d want the Acura
Because people are starting to acknowledge that the biggest Toyota hater (me) was right all along when he said the Tx was dead on arrival. The worst 3 row suv you can buy
Well, the grill needs some work, but F-Sport grill is bit better than other variants. Latest Lexus GX grill is the best looking in their SUV lineup ! May be they should use that in TX as well. Color options are limited. Overall above average !
Thanks for this review. If you could, PLEASE show what Android Auto looks like in vehicles. All the other car reviewers ALWAYS show only Apple Car Play.....but there are probably more Android phones than Apple phones out there. Only once did I see a review that showed Android Auto....but only very briefly. I also agree with your description of the interior - it doesn't look too "Lexus-like" on video. It actually looks cheap even though it's high-quality. And wood accents would go a long way to warm up the interior and make it less sterile. I love my 2011 RX 450h and wonder when my batteries will need to be replaced. At that point, I'll want to purchase another Lexus....but only if Lexus puts massaging seats into their cars.
I love the look but for so much less I would take a grand highlander PHEV. I have 4 kids, and I’m not ever trying to get the jump off the line. Good fuel economy while sitting in the car line would be amazing. Oh and awesome audio for the few mins of the day I don’t have my kids in the car. Can parents just listen to 90’s music for just a second. It’s our odd pleasure after drop off while going to the grocery store with out kids.
@@naveenthemachine Saying it's the worst would implied there's an issue besides the price and lack of wood. Lol Silimar power output as competition Better mpgs A ton of room . My only issue is the prices and lack of features. I'm not gonna skip an overall nice SUV like this for the ladder alone.
@@KAYJAYSTUDIOSYT wrong on the power. The power output is overrated. I think it makes less power than Lexus is claiming. An MDX type s has less power than the tx500h but it’s significantly faster. A ford explorer is significantly faster than any tx. A Lincoln aviator that’s not a performance suv is faster than the tx500h f sport performance Who cares about fuel efficiency at this point? Do you see people in v8 durangos whining about mpg as if it even matters? No It has a lot of room but so does a kia telluride Hyundai palisade Chevy traverse Buick enclave etc
When I become president, I'm going to orchestrate legislation to limit wheel size for large vehicles to 20 in, 19 in for sedans. All new cars will need to be equipped with spare tires. Conventional tires must be available on all models. Run flats optional. Features such as screen controlled entertainment/climate control systems, sun roofs, dubious "safety" features such as lane change assist, auto braking, etc., will be offered with a customer delete option, with the amount deleted from the out the door price calculated using the Porsche markup formula for their ala carte options.
I went to see this car at the dealership and tbh it doesn't look luxurious.. it just looks like a high trim Toyota. Other brands have way better interiors. What happened to Lexus? They are just relying on their name and perceived reliability to be mediocre... That center screen with that much plastic around it looks bad.. it should look much sharper and with thinner edges.. it's 2024 common Lexus.
Agreed. After the haphazardly done RX-L, one would have thought that Lexus had better prepared for their second attempt on a three-row crossover. Instead, we get one that's barely different from the Toyota counterpart. I think that the PHEV is the TX's only notable variant but then again, Lexus has priced it too high to be worthy of consideration versus more luxurious competitors.
I love Sofyan and Redline. The reviews are always so thorough and high quality. However. Do we really need to spend SO much time testing the 0-60 time in every single car? Seems like he really just loves playing with his timer. I’m pretty sure that most people that are interested in buying these cars don’t care too much about the exact second 0-60, yet he had to test it 3 times just to be sure.
Great car but Lexus failed in utilizing the second row. Some of us prefer a bench seat in the second row instead of captain's chair and in the Hybrid trims. I want to put grandma, grandpa, uncle and my 2kids in the same SUV instead of putting 2cars on the road when they visit me🤷🏾♂️.. There's no difference in the current 5seater SUV to a 6 seater, it needs to be a 7-8seaters and that's where the beauty of bench seats in the second row comes in.. 🤦🏾♂️🚶🏾♂️
450 Miles range is not correct. reality is around 270 miles before 30 miles left to fuel up. 17.1 gallons is not all used. somehow they put up more than 4 gallons for the rsvs so whenever i fill up, it goes up not even to 12 gallons.
The American market was contrary to the Euro market, the one where a brand simply rebadged the same car over and over. International competition, lazy innovation and sub par quality made Ford, Chrysler and GM suffer where many US brands they owned are now gone. Lexus knows they've reached market a position where in quality they are ahead of competition. However, we can now notice the brand has become more and more lazy. Body cladded Toyotas, with here and there halo car, and a longer option list is all they offer nowadays. It will dilute the brand sooner or later. They are opening up the market for fresh competition to come in. As a brand they are flatlining. RUclipsr clickbait cars
We test drove several Grand Hilanders, all the way up to Platinum. Not impressed whatsoever. We had come from testing X5 and X7, the Grand Hilanders just felt cheap by comparison, plus horrible driving dynamics. The leather (which I assume faux) felt like a plastic wrap over styrofoam. Other Toyotas are way nicer, hopefully the Lexus is as well.
you felt a grand highlander was cheap by comparison? Did you look at the price tags?? I looked at a X5 before buying a RX500h.. it was just too big for me, and the X3 wasnt big enough.. Felt a bit cramped, the RX I got was 84k canadian... the X5 was 115k... No comparison really ... the X5 was very nice, stiched leather seats, massage etc... I think it was quicker than the RX but the RX is quick enough... the TX im sure is slower than my RX as its larger... It comes down to price tag... Highlander to X5 and X7... Well totally different ballgame..
The Tx is a nice looking car, but just very mediocre for its price point. Everything is well made and put together, but from an interior standpoint it seems very underwhelming. A more upscale looking dashboard would have done wonders for this interior along with more leather colors.

Solid sounding door thunk. Is that really a thing people need reviewed.
Yes
Well, you’d be wrong people cross shop everything we don’t need to clear a list with you first do we?
Naveen, Naveen, the anti-ToyotaLexus trolling Macheen!
My big question: this or Acura MDX Type S?
Let me rephrase your question
Do you want a gussied up Camry on stilts with 3 rows which describes the TX, or do you want a real luxury suv with real luxury car underpinnings, design, luxury, and features, which describes the Acura?
I think you’d want the Acura
The continuous push by Toyota/Lexus to constantly feature the TX in reviews shows it's not really selling well as anticipated.
Because people are starting to acknowledge that the biggest Toyota hater (me) was right all along when he said the Tx was dead on arrival. The worst 3 row suv you can buy
I'd rather have the not much different Grand Highlander hybrids :)
Grand Hilanders are full if cheap and creaky plastics. Door shut sounds like a tin can. No thanks
I’d rather have a telluride palisade cx90
This trim looks better in the deep blue.
Well, the grill needs some work, but F-Sport grill is bit better than other variants.
Latest Lexus GX grill is the best looking in their SUV lineup ! May be they should use that in TX as well. Color options are limited. Overall above average !
What I'd love to see is a Lexus minivan. Far more cargo space and a much bigger third row than this in a similarly sized package.
Women hate minivans every single survey shows that and they’re buying habits show that
Thanks for this review.
Grow up and get an iPhone. 😂
Boring SUV Toyota Highlander. Lexus lost me on this design. The New Acura MDX looks way more appealing than the TX
Agreed. I predicted the tx would be dead on arrival. I’m so glad it turned out that way
Tx base model is a gas killer, got mine in November, the most i got is 15 miles per gallon
Solid effort, but not a fan of the price. I'd just go for an mdx or cx-90.
This isn’t a solid effort. I’d say the tx is subpar. Probably the worst 3 row crossover in this segment
@@naveenthemachine Saying it's the worst would implied there's an issue besides the price and lack of wood. Lol
Silimar power output as competition
Better mpgs
A ton of room
.
A Lincoln aviator that’s not a performance suv is faster than the tx500h f sport performance
Who cares about fuel efficiency at this point? Do you see people in v8 durangos whining about mpg as if it even matters? No
It has a lot of room but so does a kia telluride Hyundai palisade Chevy traverse Buick enclave etc
It may look like a Grand Highlander for obvious reasons, but at least it doesn't look like a giant Toyota Rav4.
*These* front and rear overhangs are ungainly
No massaging seats, soft close doors, heads up display no go.
It does have a HUD option, the doors are electronic but does not soft close.
Just get the CX-90 at this point, far better quality, technology, almost the same price and is made in Japan
@@jc_so_riyl Naw I’ll keep my X7.
@@Motorheaddoc Great still a no.
Close the doors yourself
Go buy another brand pal, and stop sniveling.
@@jacksoncornbreadmcbride6763looks like reply for idiot who payd even more that MSRP and crying at night for stupid decision
You’re finally waking up to the reality that Lexus is becoming irrelevant😂
You’re finally agreeing with the biggest Toyota hater me
No walk away autolock is a no go for me. Mdx Type S
Lazy effort from Lexus. Seems like an after-thought/cash-grab for those that need a third row and want faux lux.
Well done
Nice 😊
That color is so creamy 🍨😍
I love Sofyan and Redline. The reviews are always so thorough and high quality. However. Do we really need to spend SO much time testing the 0-60 time in every single car? Seems like he really just loves playing with his timer. I’m pretty sure that most people that are interested in buying these cars don’t care too much about the exact second 0-60, yet he had to test it 3 times just to be sure.
I just skipped through that part with all these reviewers the 0 to 60 time is a complete waste in my opinion
Zonks: no triple beam head lights, no hitch
Is bench seats an option with F sport?
I prefer the X7
Great car but Lexus failed in utilizing the second row. Some of us prefer a bench seat in the second row instead of captain's chair and in the Hybrid trims. I want to put grandma, grandpa, uncle and my 2kids in the same SUV instead of putting 2cars on the road when they visit me🤷🏾♂️.. There's no difference in the current 5seater SUV to a 6 seater, it needs to be a 7-8seaters and that's where the beauty of bench seats in the second row comes in.. 🤦🏾♂️🚶🏾♂️
Sofyan… who cares about the tailpipes? It’s a 4 cylinder hybrid. Twin tail pipes would be over-reaching. Lol
Big mistake for removing wood trim. That’s what made Lexus a Lexus.
I agree with you. It’s a bit too minimalist in person, but looks much better than in the videos.
nice car
Highlander in a dress!! This is why Lexus will nothing more than a premium brand.
Lexus isn’t even premium. Buick Hyundai kia Mazda Acura are far more premium than Lexus
450 Miles range is not correct. reality is around 270 miles before 30 miles left to fuel up. 17.1 gallons is not all used. somehow they put up more than 4 gallons for the rsvs so whenever i fill up, it goes up not even to 12 gallons.
80k plastic wrapped Toyota toolbox. Nope
More like Lexus is becoming irrelevant every single day
The gave you a Toyota jacket too.
Which other Toyotas are nicer?
@@andersonrodriguez8258 4Runners, Land Cruisers (all models) and RAV4’s
you felt a grand highlander was cheap by comparison? Did you look at the price tags?? I looked at a X5 before buying a RX500h.. it was just too big for me, and the X3 wasnt big enough.. Felt a bit cramped, the RX I got was 84k canadian... the X5 was 115k... No comparison really ... the X5 was very nice, stiched leather seats, massage etc... I think it was quicker than the RX but the RX is quick enough... the TX im sure is slower than my RX as its larger... It comes down to price tag... Highlander to X5 and X7... Well totally different ballgame..
@@andersonrodriguez8258none of them 😆
Looks too cheap
My ford explorer has better features i wanted a lexus so bad but ill wait
Keep your Explorer. It’s far more exciting than the Lexus.
Nice vehicle. But all in it’s $104k CAD - $26k CAD more than top end Grand Highlander hybrid? Hell no! Not that nice.
The Tx is a nice looking car, but just very mediocre for its price point. Everything is well made and put together, but from an interior standpoint it seems very underwhelming. A more upscale looking dashboard would have done wonders for this interior along with more leather colors.
The whole car is so underwhelming 😂
I predicted this was gonna happen and I’m so glad once again the biggest Toyota hater (me) was right
Always the good ones not in Australia…
Who is this Naveen everyone is talking about? Im guessing this person knows nothing about cars
Gee I wonder who naveen is LOL😂
yes hes an armchair warrior making his opinion on every lexus review that comes out... Funny how the professional reviewers all say its a nice car for its segment ... Experts everywhere, I SUGGEST ACTUALLY DRIVING ONE !!
@@twfinc6855 the driving experience is nothing to write home about
Even if you drive it you’ll still be disappointed when compared to others
Just buy the loaded GH. The interior is not much different, the MDX looks better
You can have your MDX 🤮
Hood seems unnecessary long. The grill is hideous and a step down from the last spindle grill. The interior could have been snazzier without adding cost. Al in all a low bs effort by Lexus and Toyota for this and the Grand Highlander. It just has the space to offer. Sad how costs have come up and quality / style / innovation down.
"One of the best systems in the business" scrolls left & right with massive stutter lol state of youtube reviews these days.
Lexus dropped the ball with this 1 this is very toyota not much to differentiate it from the toyota counterpart id take the mdx over this any day

Agreed. The Tx is DOA when put up against any other 3 row
Most of the GX buyers didn’t use the 3rd row & never took it off road. As he said it’s already selling really well. Better than the larger LX
80k for a car ?
My god...lexus needs to get their stuff together. Their interior esp infotainment system looks so cheap. I own IS350 and Rx350 but theyve been milking same interior design for years and now they come with this cheap looking lcd screen with plastic everywhere. its sad when Kia makes better interior
Kia Hyundai are fools gold my friend. Yes they have incredible modern designs, but it’s hiding the lack of quality materials that they actually use in their interiors.
