Can Lexus Beat Acura At The 3-Row Game? | 2024 Lexus TX Review & Comparison

  • The Lexus TX isn't quite the "Lexus Minivan" that some folks have been asking for, but it is the next best thing: a well-priced 3-row with TONS of room inside. The generous 3rd row, large cargo area, and of course the Lexus logo have propelled the TX from newbie to 2nd best seller in just a few months. Will the TX eclipse the sales leader from Acura? I' not sure but I'd say it has a solid chance. But... Is it any good? That's a different and trickier question because the TX is, in my humble opinion, the "least Lexus" that Lexus has ever built. But also: the hybrids are great, the price is right, and despite the recent recall it's still likely to be the most reliable in the segment.

      Toyota buyers will buy anything with apple CarPlay and a touchscreen. Their bar is so low the only thing they require from Lexus is “reliability” and they’re arguably not even getting that. Sales of the TX doesn’t reflect the phoned-in job it is, it reflects Toyota/Lexus customers just being happy to have something big and updated that’s actually practical on the interior as none of their other SUVs quite accomplish that.

    • @theaeronauticalchannel446
      @theaeronauticalchannel446 7 дней назад +5

      @@naveenthemachine If that was the case, I wouldn't have to say this. Lexus engines have proven to be more reliable compared to Acura, Kia, and Hyundai engines. I know a bunch of people who have told me they regretted buying the equivalent counterpart of the TX/GH all because of how often they had to get a repair for a 3.5L V6. I remember one of my friends who bought an MDX Type-S in 2023 had the engine literally die on him while at 2000 rpm on the highway. A brand-new car, with no maintenance having these issues? He sold it after getting it repaired and bought the TX, the guy is over the moon with it. So no, you are incorrect about this case. Sure, you can have your opinion, but statically the TX is better in terms of reliability.

    I own this. The "sport" seats are the worst I've ever experienced (I also own a C8 corvette and love those sport seats). The bolsters are too narrow and are hard as a rock. This is the problem with these reviewers. The seat feels just a little snug but ok at first, but over time they are painful, and can cause spasms in my thigh. This guy gave them a 9/10, which is insane. I'm 6'1'' but very thin, yet, to me, its like a child's seat with hard plastic edges that my thighs rest on top of. The seat is fine for small thin people, but terrible for everyone else. The lumbar is also useless for tall people. Ruins the car. I regret buying it. The interior is major let down for the TX. Doesn’t feel premium enough compared to Grand Highlander. Basically just third row power seats, little better leather, and some touch point in softer and more expensive stuff that you have to pay attention to notice. The larger screen isn’t really noticeable due to the button in GH become part of the screen. The good stuff is powertrain in the 500h plus but it’s expensive enough that the interior doesn’t look appropriate for the price tag. XC90 interior is better in most of the trims, also MDX. It’s a hard pass for us. Buy GRAND HIGHLANDER.

      @normanli7085 6 дней назад

      @AAutoBuyersGuide other than the new enclave, if someone wanted 8 seats in a luxury SUV, they would have to go to a truck based full size SUV, since none of the full size luxury crossovers have an 8th seat available, hence why an 8th seat will make it a full size SUV. It is debatable whether the TX is a mid - or full-size SUV, but because the new Acadia is sized almost exactly like the TX, that's the closest size for a "midsize luxury suv". If I drive 5-10 below the speed limit and become the slowest car on the road, I can push it to about 22mpg - and this in the Eco mode. 26 (or 28 as listed) is absolutely unachievable in my car. Interestingly enough, highway driving (80mph+) gets me about 22-23mpg, which feels like not too unreasonable, considering the higher speeds.. I'm starting to think I need to bring it to have this looked at. Alex, did you get those 26mpg driving like a grandma or was it just regular driving? @AAutoBuyersGuide

Acceleration is the biggest killer and sucks that everyone in a city seems to always be in a hurry especially when the light turns green.. I occasionally get honks for not being ready to go as quickly as everyone else when I drive our GR Corolla..no one cares you're driving a stick these days..but yea we have a '23 Prius, I've tried my best to be super careful without holding up traffic and always end up coming just short of the 57 mpg estimate.
      I try to be aware of my surroundings, if no one is around, I will take my sweet time and hypermile to the max otherwise if folks are around and there aren't multiple lanes, then I'll go with the general flow of traffic which I've learn to accept is quite often not very efficient but at least no one has road rage because of me in this 120 degree heat!!
