    I build custom led flashlights. For my soldering I use a jewelers vise with peg clamps and heavy base. It's a small setup but works very well for this type of work. You can find it on Amazon for about 30 bucks. Love the channel. Keep up the great work!

    When doubling up on the wires, if you know you're going to do it before hand, twist the wires together and solder them as one. You won't have the issues of having to re-solder them multiple times. Informative video Cant wait to pick one of these up.

    Question: Could you cover the board in a silastic sealant and then heatshrink over it to make it waterproof? I understand you can also put this in a water proof box ... but just just wondering if its possible or do the electronic chips need to be open to air for cooling reasons?

    So I’ve been sitting on this since the first batch. Finally decided today was the day I manned up and soldered it. I ran all the wires to a bundle, and a single wire out to the +/- terminals. Is this going to mess it up? Or will it be ok?

  • @colossalbigfoot256
    @colossalbigfoot256 3 года назад +2

    I’ve hard wired since I began in the 90s. Dunno why people keep the noodles of wires. More wire is more resistance.

    • @HolmesHobbies
      @HolmesHobbies  3 года назад

      I keep extra and 4mm bullets because I swap out systems like bad habits. On a dedicated comp rig I'll certainly hard wire

      You only need two wires. Or one if you combine the bec output with the esc rx plug

    Do you have a rough estimate on when software will be available? Will it be programmable through the Castle USB thing, or do we need something else?

    • @grassfpv1876
      @grassfpv1876 3 года назад +1

      From what I understand this WONT be configurable with the castle programmer. He's making his own programmer from what I've been told

    I am.having some issues. After about 10 min of running, it goes into a "limiting" mode like lvc, but my lipo is charged. Running 3s 9t pinion and the 2500kv 10p revolver amd the cralwmastwr mini. Using bec for servo and bec for rx.

      What voltage , motor, and rig? Doa will happen but we have some voltage and kv limits right now. 1400kv for 4s use, 1800kv on 3s with 9t pinion on capra, etc.

    John you can use Play-doh to hold things down. You then have a shapeable hold and something you can squish into places and measure tolerances with. Silly puddy tends to be too slick. Hillbilly engineering 101!

    • @HolmesHobbies
      @HolmesHobbies  3 года назад

      Thats not a bad idea. I wouldn't want that on the board before conformal though, it would leave a residue that would hinder the process.

  • @jamesalesi1305
    @jamesalesi1305 Год назад

    Sooooo... I'm getting 22V at the BEC output. Green led is on, which I assume is good, and I get 11V at the jst output... so what did I do wrong?

    • @HolmesHobbies
      @HolmesHobbies  Год назад

      3 cell battery? I don't think it can do that, it's not capable of boost. What mode is your voltmeter in

    • @jamesalesi1305
      @jamesalesi1305 Год назад

      @HolmesHobbies It was in DC voltage mode. I don't know what the problem was, but I swapped in a CC BEC, and now I'm reading 5V as expected. I'm guessing the BEC was bad, and maybe the voltmeter was reading 22 mV. The early BECs were problematic, right?

    • @HolmesHobbies
      @HolmesHobbies  Год назад

      @jamesalesi1305 the little standalone units? Yeah. They were iffy without load especially
