    Bro, you are a saint. I was a mechanic for many years but never ever learned transmissions. I left the industry because I saw many guys who would just come to work to rip customers off. I never made the money they did because I was too honest. Anyway, I just had the valve body replaced in my 2009 Dodge Caravan and the gear selector is hard to move. I bet those guys didn't clean that corrosion before putting everything back together knowing that they can get me again when I come back to have that fixed. This is the local dealership BTW. Your video was very clear and understandable. Thanks for doing this!

    Thank you for this information I have the same car and hardly to find videos for that kind of Dodge neon 3 speed transmission ,
    But I have different problem that happened when the gears going from first to second and from second to third it has hard shift even after changing the oil and filter.

    I have a 2000 concorde that sat for a while. I'm soaking it with creeping oil right now hoping it will free up.

      On the transmission case (1995 2.5 automatic) what are those little things that protrude from the case. They look a little like nuts and they protrude from the aluminum housing. Maybe there is some kind of chamber behind each one. I think there are 5 of them.

    Does the kick down cable lever move separately from the shifter lever. I see it’s 2 different shaft one inside the other. Just wondering if the are to move separate from each other or together

    Great video for me! I just bought a 2001 PT w/ 40k on it that has never seen snow, absolutly looks like new under the car but the trans shifter was very stiff compared to my other PT. I disconnected the cable first and it was ok. I PB Blasted the linkage going into the trans and it's almost normal so I think I'll hold off on going into the trans.

    I have a '97 Dodge neon, when it's in drive it shifts good, ( 3 spd auto ), it won't go into 1st. or 2nd, and when i try it feels like it's interfering with the throttle cable, i can feel it in the pedal, any clues?

    Hey Nate thanks for the video I've got a 2000 dgc that is not going into overdrive AKA 3rd gear could this be the issue sometimes you'll be driving Andy and it acts like it slips you drop it down to s seems to run okay

    I have a 93 Chrysler Lebaron 3.0 automatic 3 speed console shift. While driving after car is warmed up, it will drop a gear into default or limp mode. It's worse when car is warmed up. I tried cleaning 8 pin connector on solenoid pack, with no change after. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    I’ve got a similar problem the shift rod that slides over the other rod connected to the valve body rusted to one another , I think I messed up I took off the c clip and tried to free it up I managed to get it free but now trans won’t go into any gears , I think I misaligned the shifter cog part that’s close to valve body

      Nathan Rohrbough I fixed it , removed the valve body like you did and got the rods free from one another , thank you for this one and really only video out for something like this . Cleaned up the throttle pressure rod and replaced a few things it’s good to go now .

      It does it on big hills and not on level ground

      It may also be worth checking that the kick down linkage shaft isnt corroded to the shifting shaft. since the kickdown shaft spins freely inside of the shifting shaft. Was the case with my 01 dodge neon, had the same symptom as Carlos, but after a few rounds of pb blaster and some gentle working about it freed up and operated normally.

    I’m sure you won’t see this or reply too it this long after man. But I gotta 2001 Plymouth neon 4 cyl automatic, car shifts into park, reverse and neutral perfectly fine. No jamming, or loud bad noises or anything unusual it just will not kick in and shift into Drive or tha other forward gears but again there was nothing grinding or any loud noises when this happened and my car just won’t shift into tha gears I said. I’m at a loss but feel like it has to be something still worth fixing on this tranny and me not having to junk it but I’m not car savy that much and I’m lost for words

      I had this same problem on my 98 Plymouth Neon, trans wouldn't shift out of first gear then it wouldn't go into drive at all, just park reverse and neutral. No clue as to why.
