    you say towards the end of the video that you will upload how to replace the shifter cable later, but I'm not seeing it in your playlist. The specific question I have is about attaching the cable to the shifter. We have a 2009 that the cable keeps coming unattached from the shifter. What is the part that holds it in place? I know there is a bushing, but my husband says there has to be a clip or clamp of some kind that holds the bushing on the pin. But I didn't see anything like that is this video. Am I missing something? Or is it just the bushing?

      At 6:18 that shows the relation between the shifter and the cable, there is no clip. There is however an adjustment screw. Is this a PT Cruiser? Also are you subscribed to the channel?

      @@OnlineMechanicTips yes, PT Cruiser. 2009. And yes, subscribed.

      Watching the video again. Where exactly is the adjustment screw?

    • @OnlineMechanicTips
      @OnlineMechanicTips  2 года назад

      @@vikkir7277 Im still having a hard time understanding your problem, the bushing pushes onto the shifter and should stay in place if the bushing good. On some models there is a lil 8mm screw used to adjust it right in the area of the bushing. Some are on the bushing at the transmission bushing area and some at the shifter bushing area, Once cable in place and aligned properly, simply tighten the bolt down so it would stay in place

      @@OnlineMechanicTips great. Thank you so much! And since the new cable has that bushing included we should be all set. Really appreciate this video and your input!

    If there's something wrong with the shifter cable Will the car not start. Drove it home. Park the car and now can't start it but lights work. Wondering if it's really not in park

      @@OnlineMechanicTips it's a PT Cruiser. I figured it out though. Replaced the shifter cable and lower assembly in a few hours. I did not subscribe, I don't want to work on the car that often.

      @@OnlineMechanicTips - Subscriber here! I have a 2007 PT and actually doing some mods to show car quality. Question: I found a "T" handle shifter with the tab for the cable (instead of the button) So how do I remove the factory knob? That is the part I was really looking for.
      Just painted my entire car back to original blue with ice blue pearl and then painted two 10 inch wide candy apple red stripes from the bottom front bumber and all the way to the bottom back bumper.
      Now working on upgrading the inside with all new upho;stery. (Therefore the question of removing the shifter knob)
      Thanks!
