  • The middle mount is the hardest to replace it's almost the same like a timing belt replacement on this car... in case with this dodge neon the middle mount bolt broke. the upper mount and lower mount because of this became bad...
    I couldn't extract the cracked bolt from assembly while in the car it's nearly impossible...

    Very helpful. Especially breaking the timing cover. Made me realize they both must come out together. Removed two bottom timing cover screws and worked fine.

      Of course, that's better not to break the timing belt cover, but it will take a lot more time for this labor otherwise... thank you for your comment.

      the hardest is the middle mount.... the upper or lower mounts could be replaced in less then 30 minutes....

    @gavrilovas1  11 лет назад +1

    yes it was a pin to do all this... just because of the broken middle mount bolt... it's like to do timing belt and water pump...

    Great work. I just finished installing my timing belt but am having trouble aligning the engine to insert the bolt to the middle and lower motor mounts. I think it shifted when I removed the lower motor mount, but now I can't get the engine re-aligned with a jack under the oil pan. Any advice?

    • @gavrilovas1
      @gavrilovas1  9 лет назад +2

      kbean824 the middle mount bolt is the first you have to insert to mount the engine, then upper mount bolts... the lower mount is the last on your way to properly realign the engine...

    Did you replace your mounts with Mopar OEM mounts or did you use an after market brand. Did you notice any difference?

    ;-) if to be afraid of everything it's better to seat at home and not to do nothing... because who knows what can happen to you maybe meteor will fly from space and heat you... ;-)

    Maybe you can remove the fender well to access the middle mount....or cut a hole ?

      Nope. You have to remove the Tensioner assembly.

    Very nice video - thank you!
    How can you know when you've jacked the engine up far enough? I assume you don't want to jack it up enough to stress other components?

    • @gavrilovas1
      @gavrilovas1  10 лет назад +1

      you just have to feel it, how not to over-jack the engine... the best way is to replace all 4 mounts, including the one from driver side, which mounts transmission to the body of the vehicle... you will need a crane to support the engine and transmission...

    2022 as of now a 4 part replacement mount kit 71.70 on ebay for 2005 dodge neon sxt 1996cc comes with the three engine mounts and the transmission mount not bad when the mechanic shops want $1000-1300 usd to do it for you.
    try to blame that on inflation, I mean the part price is the same after tax as it was in 2013 to do it your self.

    how bad is it to raise the engine so much, arent you afraid something else like headers or transmission parts will be damaged from raising or lowering engine?

  • @DarkRealmRecords2011
    @DarkRealmRecords2011 10 лет назад +2

    Do ya have to jack the engine up to replace the lower motor mount???

    • @gavrilovas1
      @gavrilovas1  10 лет назад +1

      yes... if lower mount will removed without jacking engine, it will move a little bit and you not gonna be able to install replacement motor mount correctly..

    Thank you for the great videos! I changed the upper mount with a friend...then tackled the lower mount on my own....i only learned from your videos and managed just fine. Unfortunately...I did not know enough at the time to check for the middle mount...(neither did my help!) lol so now I still have vibrations while idling and would like to check the middle mount. Is there a way I can check it without removing the new upper and lower ones? Please any help will be appreciated! :)

    • @gavrilovas1
      @gavrilovas1  9 лет назад

      kerri kazor while replacing upper and lower mounts its recommended to replace middle mount as well... I doubt that there is a way to check the condition of middle mount without removing it...

    • @gavrilovas1
      @gavrilovas1  9 лет назад

      kerri kazor there is one more mount witch is mounting transmission.. it should be replaced as well, if bad.....

  • @gavrilovas1
    @gavrilovas1  11 лет назад +1

    no transmission and other parts couldn't not be damaged because of this...

  • @mikebeast258
    @mikebeast258 10 лет назад +2

    Couldn't you just lower the complete motor and change all the mounts as well as transmission mount.

    • @gavrilovas1

      yes it's possible.. but could be harder to do..

    Hey by any chance does anybody know if the transmission mount has to be removed in order to lift the engine up and down to get to the center mount?

    • @gavrilovas1
      @gavrilovas1  7 лет назад

      yes, if you will remove transmission mount you will be able to lift engine up.
