    Not so easy task. My PT is 2006 and only 130,000km. At first I think take it away from down, but it was impossible. So I must remove drier receiver and power steering reservoir . I hope that the alternator is broken, because I ordered a new-one already... I my older car now over 500,000 km and the alternator still is working.

      Yeah, I totally understand the alternator can be a pain in the butt to get out of PT cruisers, but I will say Hyundai Santa Fe the earlier models, the alternator even worse to get out

    The Jack will hold fine, until it doesn’t. At least stick the rim and tire under the car to give yourself a chance.

    Does the PT have a voltage regulator? If so, did you check that?

      It turned out to be a corroded body ground. Main on from the battery. And the regulator is built into the alternator.

    Hello, excellent video channel, wondering if you ever made the 2nd video about the bad ground? I'm having the same problem with my 2005 Cruiser. The battery is not holding a charge. The battery light is coming on. The battery was 6yrs old so I thought it might have been the battery, now the new battery still not holding a charge. Any suggestions? Thanks, walt

      Make sure that the alternator when the vehicle is running is sending a charge to the battery also check to make sure there is nothing that is draining the battery like an aftermarket radio that is constantly on also check the ground that runs to the starter make sure that it is not corroded

      @@StansAuto83 Appreciate you getting back to me, will probably take a few days to check out the wiring so I will let you know how it turns out. There was a little corrosion on the positive battery terminal.and on the ground with the multi-wire connector on the driver's side. Thanks again.

      Stan, I jumpered the car (2005 PT Cruiser) and started it, and the voltage was 13.1 volts. (with the car running). Do you think this is a sign the alternator is fried? Do you have a website? Cheers

      @StansAuto83  2 года назад

      I no longer have the website because of the company that ran it went out of business. And I haven’t gotten around to make a new one. 13.1 isn’t too bad what you could do if you have a spare vehicle take the battery to advance auto parts and have them test it the battery could be dead so. if so they would have to recharge it before they could test it and they do that for free.

      @@StansAuto83 Ok, after the "battery light" came on the battery died. (the battery was about 6 yrs. old), so I got a brand new battery and it went dead after about an hour of driving. So then I got a boost from another car and the motor started, so checked the voltage (but forgot to turn on the lights, fan etc) so maybe that was why it measured 13V. Anyway, I checked the ground connections, by eye, and they all seemed ok. So I got the "new" battery charged at Firestone ($20) and take the car to a garage, to have it diagnosed, probably the alternator. Thanks again from Ont. Canada..

    An PT Cruiser Limited Edition I change the battery an the alternator twice now keep killing it I have not figured out what it is can you give me the right direction to go in?

      Check the grounds they are by the body over by the battery. Follow the negative ground cable those can get corroded and will need They can cause no starts another issues..so make sure there clean.

      Are you having trouble with the ignition lock cylinder , key hard to remove, or vague set stops( acc run start). That can cause a draw that will kill your battery

      I wonder if you were to remove the drier receiver would you be able to pull it straight up through

    • @joehughes5177
      @joehughes5177 10 месяцев назад

      Just did it through the top. Knock the heat shield down at the corner near the alternator to below the lip and beat it in a bit till it is below the lip and hammer the other 3 or so inches into exhaust manifold forming it around it. No heat shield removal, no damage

      @@Shinryu101then you'd have to recharge the a/c. You can move it to the side just a bit. Just did this on an 03 2 days ago

      @@joehughes5177 Thanks I had the shop do it for me after getting it disconnected from the car I couldn't get it out so had to put it back on. They took it out from bottom, removed the CV axle then oil filter then it slid out from there. $200 bill. But now I have a slight flicker with lights, can barely see it happening but everything is running good. Have to see what's up with that soon.
