I used one each of 10 apples, put each thru the peeler/corer/slicer, then into my 3-quart Instant Pot along with a half cup of water and 2 cinnamon sticks. Five minutes under pressure, slow release and it was done. Removed the cinnamon sticks then used a manual potato masher to get the consistency that I wanted. No added sugar!
So simple and delicious!! I add some lemon juice and strawberries and no additional sugar since the fruits are perfectly sweet on their own. I wish it didn’t take so many apples just to make a more substantial batch though.
I was given a bunch of apples and decided it was time to try and make apple sauce. As I scrolled down through the numerous channels I saw yours and stopped. I knew I didn't need to go any further. I have found your recipes so easy to watch and do. And as an added bonus you mentioned freezing, which was how I wanted to store. Thanks, from a Maine Grammy.
I used 24 cups of Apples I had frozen from two harvests ago. added a little less water, to accomodate for thawing. I was so pleased with the flavor! My husband gave it two thumbs up! I am almost 60 now, and when i took a bite of that sauce yesterday, it instantly took me back to when I was 5/6 years old at the babysitters house - such a very familiar and comforting flavor! thank you! Oh and regards to the person saying you threw half the apple away - do you make your own Apple Cider Vinegar from your cores and peelings? Smiles!
Nuh uh (jk) Yes it does indeed! I grow several old heirloom apples-Ashmead’s Kernel, Esopus Spitzenber, Northern Spy, and Yellow Transparent and mixing the first three varieties in with the main YT-base, really gives the sauce a much fuller, unique flavor that you don’t get with ONLY using the yellow transparent. (Which are really only good for sauce!) 🫡❤️👍🏼
Only loosely followed this recipe (had only 1 kind of apples and they were small) and yet my applesauce came out great!! I think I used just a liiittle too much lemon juice, but theyre fresh squeezed from my grandmas yard, and I love tartness, so it worked out still. Tried it hot, tasted great, excited to try it chilled.
Thank you so much for your video. I followed your directions and made the applesauce very recently and couldn't believe the end results, it came out so good:)
I'm going to make a lot of apple sauce this fall! I love it, but buying it from the store is too expensive when it's so easy to make! Thank you for the simple and straight to the point recipe!
I do enjoy your informative videos indeed. Last night I dreampt that I was walking along a farmers field and row by row were a different assortment of apples for anyone to take. Oh well , great recipe by the way.
Sometimes i make a bowl just for snack, here is my sugar free recipe(with little chucks) for 1 medium bowl: dice twp little or one very big apple, wash it, and pour it into a pan like she uses, but the smaller. Pour in a splash of water, and a big pinch of cinnamon. Bring the fire on high, and wait until it cooks. when it cooks you gotta check if you poured in enough water, if you did, there is still water in the pan, of you didn't, the apples all ate the water.. you can just add some more water, and then cook it on low fire, with lid. I don't know how long it needs to simmer, but mostly until soft, then pick a mixer, or anything to just make puree of it, and then you are done! (Tip:always make sure if you want chucks to dice the apple just in squares, not from the little, just a medium square) ❣️🎂
I'm not a big applesauce person but I had a bunch of apples down in the basement and I thought I should do something with them before I had to throw them away. This is the best applesauce I've ever eaten and I made it from scratch! I did put the butter, brown sugar and cinnamon in...OH, MY GOSH! I was going to freeze it but I don't know if it's going to make it to the freezer. Thank you.
Hello, I just found you. You are so simple and I’m a beginner Best video out there… How long do you want a bath when you can thank you so much for your time new subscriber

Haha you’re very entertaining and positive. I just looked for a simple applesauce video for my baby, and left smiling and subbing 😂 will def look at what else is taught here to expand my small recipe knowledge.
Would I still be able to do this with frozen apples? I was given a huge box of apples, and I didn't want them to go to waste, so I cored, cleaned, and froze them.
probably man. they are going in a pot anyways i dont see why not. unless you microwave your applesauce, just to freeze it again. have fun with it though its a easy recipe

The 10 apples that I used nearly overfilled the 3-quart pot (after peeling-coring-slicing) but after cooking, it reduced to half.

She tossed away half of each apple! :/
it triggered me so much
That’s a number one chef rule, never waste anything by reusing or never waste in general.
Shut
When I make this I plan on using any Apple scraps to make apple cider vinegar!
She did waste more than she use
Best video on how to make applesauce ever!!!
Wow... You explained it sooo smoothly... As smooth as apple sauce... I totally loved the recipe... Thank you sooo much 👍🏻👍🏻🤗
I made apple sauce using this recipe today. I omitted adding sugar since the flavor was just right for me. Thanks, it turned out great. 👍
Didn’t know apples had names! I just go for red, green, yellow 🤣
Oof
😂😂😂
You’re kidding, right?
Are you new to planet earth?
how could u possibly not know that
That tip goes for everything you make with apples. The difference in an Apple Pie when you use multiple different kinds of Apples really is amazing.

I love making applesauce this time of year! Makes the house smell delicious!!
That is an added bonus! (:
Nothing like the smell of applesauce in the morning ;)
Nice video, but really you lost a lot of apple :S
I got anxiety when she threw away that big piece of apple core😂😂
She threw half away 😢
She literally would've used only 3 pounds If she didn't throw away that much

Might think about adding some options for the leftover cores and peels of the apples.

We use bigger chunks brown sugar and lemon juice. Also I like to eat the course
Thanks for sharing❣️
In mine I add cardamom, a cinnamon stick rose water & vanilla & lemon juice while I’m boiling the apples
Yummy I'm making this!
That looked so good
Dang that looks gooooood 😋. Thank you.

pink lady apples are the best
Did I have to do that with all my apples or just one cause I’m doing it was just one
Will Almond Extract be a good Addition
Thanks! Delicious and easy to make...
there was a lot of good apple on those cores! I would use an apple cutter that perfectly cuts the core without leaving too much apple on
ok
In the video it says that you should add 1 cup of water. However, in the description it says that you should add 1/2 cup of water. Which one is it?
Tip: you can keep the apple skin and the seeds area to make some excellent tea!
so how like should i eat it or like put it on fries or something ???
Thank you
Thank you very much ! :D
You're welcome!
I also cook apples sprinkled with sugar. I cut back on sugar
Thanks
Pure nostalgia
I mean I just watched this, while eating apple sauce sprinkled with cinnamon. It was pretty satisfying tbh. Now it’s time for bed.
Same! Lol I'm eating apple sauce right now in bed!😂
ME TOOO!! Lol
😳 there a lot of apple left on those there cores!
Eat em!
I love how she used brown sugar instead of white sugar. Brown sugar is better for you and tastes better. 🙂
Oh my, what a revelation...brown sugar, eh!?
Brown sugar is the same as white sugar it just as molasses in it to make it darker. Neither white or brown sugar are healthy for you.
Would I still be able to do this with frozen apples? I was given a huge box of apples, and I didn't want them to go to waste, so I cored, cleaned, and froze them.
