      Oats same as grains, pulses quinoa and nuts contain Phytic acid which will prevent nutrients absorption .thus it's important we soak them overnight and throw the liquid. Too much of it leads to leaky gut syndrome a serious condition.Google

      After many unsuccessful attempts, this is the recipe that works. 1:1 oats/milk of choice 1/2 that amount of yogurt. So 1/2 cup each oats and milk, then 1/4 c yogurt.
      Also, large flake oats work best for soaking overnight as they still retain some texture.

      If you’re being serious.... your body is adjusting. It will eventually get used to the new amount of fiber coming in. Try loading up on more insoluble fiber (corn, nuts, beans, veggies) to help “bulk” up your stool and you should see a difference. Oats, peas and fruit are soluble fiber and with increased amounts can certainly make your stool loose. Hope this helps you.

      Hi, how to do you prevent your overnight oats from having a flavour similar to flour. Everytime i try to make it it ends up having the same taste and flavour of flour i add salt as well so that's not the problem. I checked online and found on one thread that it can be avoided by popping it into microwave for a few seconds and then re refrigerating it. I noticed that it works but seems like a hassel because that not how it is supposed to work also if I don't heat it in the microwave it makes me really bloaty. That's why I always feel it is ridiculous to not cook oats before eating. But I kinda have an idea as to what good overnight oats tastes like so I don't wanna give up just yet. Pls help.

    Chia seeds and almond milk are not on my shopping list but will try with regular milk, also with the 1 minute oatmeal. Think they will taste better when the weather gets hot.

    Steel cut oats are best, I have them every morning.

      I prefer them too. Did you try this with steel cut oats?

    • @patsydf
      @patsydf 4 года назад

      @@debbieholzherr2990 I like my porridge hot and put whatever I fancy on the top, I like the contrast between the plain oats , we are all different. I also sprinkle a crushed linseed mix on the top. More often than not it's blueberries, banana and maple syrup on the top. British winters need a warm start to the day, maybe in the summer for the cold oats.

      Debbie Holzer, I'm trying these overnight oats with steel cut "quick oats" tonight. I'll let you know if it works.😋

      @debbie holzerr, well, the consistency was chewy with the instant steel cut oats. I think if I do it again, I will heat the almond milk first, then add the oats to sit for a few minutes before adding everything else. They also need a bit more liquid than the roles oats.

    Don't I have to cook the oats? I cook my Quaker minute oats in boiling water, dried/fresh fruits & then add milk at the end. It was always a hot breakfast for me with brown sugar added.

      CamLof21 they are not heated. Try it first and then see if you like it or not. Trick is to let it sit over night. Oats and chia seed will suck the moisture it turns into something more like a porridge.
