They thought something was wrong when they saw the lap times, didn't believe that it was actually that fast but as we all witnessed, it was. The F2004 was a gem and with Michael behind the wheel, unbeatable. Also a stunning car to look at as well, probably the best in f1 history I'd say.
the worst thing is that turbos don't really sound bad, they sound pretty cool, in f1 everything is fk up. is almost like they wanted they cars to sound awful.

I recall being worried before pre-season testing began. 2003 was a difficult year for the Bridgestone runners, particularly Ferrari. Didn't know which way it was going to go even until Suzuka. So the 2004 car was a pleasant - and much needed - surprise.
The new 2017 Ferrari SF70H is challenging the Ferrari F2004. Also, F2005 could be faster than F2004 if they were allowed to change tyres. Because of the stupid regulation that ban tyre changes in 2005, the cars had no choice but to use hard tyres that makes them a bit slower. If that didn't happen, the 2005 cars would be even faster than the 2004.

I don't think it was only down to tyres. The aero was also much compromised by the rules, and since the F2005 was basically an evolution of the F2004, it wasn't best suited for those new rules.

Exactly. The cars nowadays are not that spectacular as 15-20 years ago. The engine sound is crap in my opinion and i hope one day they will go back to V8-V10 and V12 3L or 3.5L again. During a race fans should hear more different engine sounds and not all the time the same.
