Best thing I remember about those early 2000 Ferraris? Was how they'd start a lap at Suzuka and just Take the first turn without even thinking of slowing down. As boring as it was to non Schumi fans seeing the same car win all the time, seeing a car do things that didn't seem possible was just something else whilst also being why I love F1

Yeah LMP1 cars are much smaller in the flesh, compared to F1 cars which are much bigger. You'd think an LMP1 car is bigger.

@@danielandrew24 Yeah I know, as a very young Ford Fan in the AU days I didn't know why it didn't win a lot but now I know it was due to the Original middle slit front bumper design, Undertray, understeer and the fact it was HRT's best year. If a guy can win the championship at Bathurst you know Skaife and HRT was at their best. The BA was a better performing and better looking car but I still like the look of the AU after they put the VT front bumper on it.

The F2004 Has Been The Unbeatable Ferrari
I was 4 when my uncle showed me Schumacher and his brilliance. I remember wearing a random red and yellow shirt to show my passion for the team, even if I had no idea what the car was. I remember that 2004 season really well. I had just moved with my parents to a new school and the season had started. That year was the year I had to throw away my 'Ferrari' shirt, because I wore it too many times. This is the car that I dreamt of touching someday, and I was privileged to do that in Abu Dhabi. I became a Tifosi from that day on. Since the 2016 season, I stopped watching F1, for college and personal reasons, but after watching Canada and what happened with the FIA decision (still very very very salty and pissed about it, ruined my hype for the weekend), I really wanted to know more about my favorite car from a time I can't remember too well. Thank you for the video and hope you keep making more content like this.

The F2004 is basically the F1 equivalent to Sebastien Loeb and Citroen in the WRC in 2005. The Ferrari domination from 2000-2004 was very similar to Sebastien’s domination from 2004-2012.

All Lewis had to do was stay at least -5 seconds behind to win, why try to overtake and risk crashing when you can sit back comfortably -5sec and win. I think I saw that Ferrari might appeal the decision, they have like 3 days or something to provide evidence.

There wasn't the Austrian grand prix back in 2004. The last year we had the Austrian grand prix before 2014, was 2003. The Ferrari incident you were saying was in 2002 and finally f2004 won 15 of the 18 races.

11:45 You mean Minardi, Zsolt drove for Jordan for 2 races in 2003. He drove for Minardi in 2004.

I think the 2019 Mercedes W10 will also be remembered like the F2004. It looks incredible first of all, scored a record 739 Points(I know points are different now) Had nine 1-2 finishes(a record 5 in a row) 32 Podiums, 15 Wins, has the outright lap record at 12 tracks! 10 Poles and 9 fastest laps too. Amazing car, that with Hamilton was pretty much unbeatable.
Paulietwan Twan I know this is a month old but I have to agree Mercedes will be remembered as the next all dominant team in Formula 1. Though I have to say not enough recognition goes to the 2016 Mercedes F1 car that car with Rosberg and Hamilton at the wheel won all but 2 races and they both got every pole position except 1 where Ricciardo beat them in Spain it also had 8 1-2s so not as much as the W10 and it had the same amount of podiums as the W10 32

Nice video Aidan, and a fitting tribute to a car that will go down as one of the greatest. I wonder if one day we will get the opportunity to hear the thoughts of those involved, particularly Ross Brawn, regarding how they went from utter dominance to utter 'meh' with the 2005 car. That's the side of f1 that intrigues me. I find it far more interesting to hear why Ferrari keep pooching their modern designs, rather than the reasons why Mercedes stay ahead of the pack.

2005 was a "meh" season for Ferrari because of the rules changes. The car was still super dominant, however there was a new rule for tires and thats where they lost. FIA did this on purpose to stop Ferrari dominance. In 2006 Ferrari was fighting for the championship until the last race, even though the odds were against them. So yeah had the Fia not changed rules Ferrari had a real chance to dominate till the end of 2008
That car was a glorious monster. Right there with the W11
Unpopular/Controversial Opinion:
The F2004 is the biggest reason why Jenson Button has 1 World Championship instead of 2.
He helped BAR to 2nd in the Constructor’s Championship and took 3rd (beaten only by the Ferraris) in the Driver’s Championship, consistently fighting off the likes of McLaren, Williams and Renault to notch up no less than 10 podium finishes.
If Ferrari didn’t have the advantage they had with this absolute megabeast of a car, I genuinely think JB would’ve actually won a few races and put himself in title contention.

This sort of reminds me of the story of the car jeff gordon drove at the 1997 winston all star race at charlotte motor speedway.
In that case the rules didn't explicitly say that they couldn't custom build a car specifically for that race (but they sort of did) so Rick Hendricks ordered one be buit, they took it to the race and dominated so completely that nascar changed the rules an hour aftet tje race ended.

The car that I filled the top 5 with was the Lotus 25.
The MP4/4 - MCLAREN was by far the best and most competitive car ever built.
They won 15 of the 16 races and also collected 15 poles on 16 attempts.
They gathered 199 points for the whole season which was incredible. The only race McLaren didn't won was Italia. Senna and Prost were running 1 & 2 the whole race until Prost's engine gave up and Senna collided with another racer.
Ferrari F2004 was incredible, but not even in my top 3 (I was born in the 1970s).

Well yeah, but the F2004 would thrash the MP4/4 in a race. F1 was also much less professional and competitive in the MP4/4 era, so maybe it was the competitors of the MP4/4 just sucked?

If asked for my favourite F1 car of all time, I answer F2002. I guess it was the time where I was most into F1.

Lewis definately has been lucky being able to drive dominant cars but you gotta remember there are 2 drivers and the 2n driver has rarely won (except Nico)
Its clear when it rains how good Lewis is...I think that should be enough proof Lewis' success isnt just about having the best car

Rory Byrne is South African, Aldo Costa is Italian, who were major contributors to the design of the F2004. Aldo Costa is Mercedes Engineering Director and has been since the Hybrid Era.

Byrne learnt his craft when he moved to England, as most engineers still do to this day.
The Red Bull era was dominated by the genuis of Adrian Newey, a Brit, and the rest of the team in England.
Just like the 90s dominance by Williams, Benetton Renault, and McLaren, all teams based and staffed by Brits, in England, and driven to supremacy by British engineering brilliance.
Just like Lotus with Colin Chapman back in the day...they set new standards.
Then we had Alonso and his Enstone based and staffed Renault, then Brawn and McLaren back at the top between Schumacher Ferrari era and before and during the Red Bull eras.
Now, Mercedes-Benz, another team staffed and based in England, using the best of British engineering, is untouchable up front.
Having Hamilton helps, but then British drivers have won more world titles (8 drivers) than any other nation by far (next best are Brazil and Finland with 3 drivers each).
Even away from the track in the Schumacher Ferrari era the head of the F.i.A was a Brit, Max Mosley, and the commercial rights holder and basically the top guy in the sport was another Brit, Bernie Ecclestone.
The recently deceased chief race director for decades had been a Brit, Charlie Whiting, and the official number one medical expert was another Brit, Sid Watkins.
All these men were in power during and after then after the Schumacher Ferrari era.
I think I've established that Britain is an f1 superpower and has been arguably the most influential nation in the history of the sport.
Even the oldest race, on the calendar from the very first F1 championship to this very day, is British.
(Though I accept Monza might also share that honour)
Fact is, Ferrari continued to look to British talent all through the 90s and 00s and still does to this day.
F1 is global, international, and is well known for its brilliant drivers and circuits all over the world...I'm just saying acknowledge the reality.

I can imagine Adrian Newey with his greasy hands assembling the Renault engine by himself on the Redbull car, dropping a tear whilst remembering the car he build, also by himself, that killed Ayrton Senna. An F1 team is huge, and pinning the success, or failures, on a single person is incredibly diminishing for everyone else, regardless of nationality.

That means the guys at the factory building the car, designing and making the parts, testing the parts, then working the pits at the grand prix, working strategy back at the factory etc...
That's what "staffed by" means, moron.
Point stands; all those teams through the 90s, and 00s, and up to today, such as Renault, Williams, McLaren, Red Bull, Mercedes, Force India etc...are staffed by Brits, the cars are built in British factories, and Brits play a key role in fabrication, testing, R&D etc...
I never said it was ONLY British talent, I said that it was disproportionate numbers of Brits playing a role and that it is an F1 superpower.

I dont know if anyone realised but had michael not retire from the monaco gp it would have set a whopping record of 13 consecutive wins and vettel would not match the record of most wins per season because michael would have 14 wins in 2004

It was very very similar. So much so that the fia conducted an investigation to ensure it was truly a Sauber design. Turns out it was their own car. But seeing as how the sauber used ferrari engines and the same bridgestone tires its no surprise they looked so similar. Imo ferrari helped them design it.
JDM_Jeffro think Ferrari did what they did with haas- gave them the blueprints and let them get in with it. Technically haas would have built the car.

Just an idea. But maybe a assetto corsa video with a generation of several generation of cars/series. Like all the available ferrari f1 cars. And maybe throw in their rivals if they're available in game. Race them all at once in the background and through in the sound lightly every know and then. Or maybe you know the 917 vs 512 or 962, 787, c8?/c11?. Just a thought.

MP4-18(B) was a complete fuck up and never raced. The MP4-17(D) had to race for 2 seasons and the MP4-19 was an unreliable piece of crap. The B-Spec of the MP4-19 was where McLaren started to improve.

Thank you for the AC images of the cars. I’m not an avid follower of F1 and as I watched a couple of races this year, and thought they looked HUGE. But thought it may have been my eyes and not watching through the years.

I don't know why they're so much longer either. Might be because of the hybrids and safety.
F1 cars gained an awful lot of length after the refueling ban, as they suddenly had to carry a 140L-ish tank (loosely calculated based on the specific mass of octane, but F1 expresses it in mass, not volume) onboard. After that teams started to realise that the aerodynamic advantages of a longer floor outweighed the advantages traditionally associated with a smaller wheelbase, and F1 cars have been growing longer ever since.
Another lap record of the F2004 fell just yesterday at Canada
Wider, slick tyres, modern efficient PUs producing substantially more HP and torque than the V10s, DRS, I don't think modern engineers have much to shout about when they design cars that break 15 year old records.

Yes, it is the greatest F1 car ever made. No F1 car ever has set records that stood for so long, ever. And no car has ever forced the FIA to essentially rig the following season in order to stop the winning team from winning again.

@@crystalracing4794 It's ironic to me because the W07 Hybrid can be seen as the F2002 here. The W08 and W09 EQ Power+ as the F2003-GA. The W10 should be more like the F2004, however the W10 probably shows what Red Bull would be capable of in the Hybrid era if it had a Mercedes PU in the back.
@@sekhyhybrid6701 Agree with that analogy, but I'm not sure why you are correlating Red Bull's potential to if they had a Merc PU. If Red Bull had a Merc PU, they would design their car in a very different way, but it might not take advantage of Newey's preferences for tight rear ends and high rakes (W10 has a low rake)
@@crystalracing4794 I know that Red Bull would design their car differently if they had a Merc PU, but what I mean is that the W10 shows what Red Bull could be capable of with for example the RB14 with a better engine. While the W10 has low rake, (Still higher than the 2017 and 2018 car) Red Bull would have made a high rake car with similiar performances in 2018 with the RB14 if it had a better engine.
The reason Ferrari can't do it now is they do not have Brits like Ross Brawn and the like running things....let's face it, much of Ferrari's issues in the last few years are Italian chaos management

And now Mercedes does what Ferrari did back then - "failure is not an option" mentality and when they win as much as they possibly can in a season they don't sit on their laurels but actually keep pushing the technology and dominate even more.
