The R26 and the 2006 Ferrari were very even over the course of the full season, the Renault starting much better and the Ferrari ending the season stronger.

    • @Eliras24
      @Eliras24 3 года назад +1

      @@28erny Well man, all interesting and Alonso was amazing, but he couldn't win in Ferrari where he should've, and also for his mistakes. In team sports, and ESPECIALLY F1, the ability to create good relationships with the team is fundamental. As to perform under pressure. Fernando did mistakes in Suzuka with Ferrari, after that incident in Spa (that wasn't his fault), that costed him the championship (25 points). As in the end of that year he played a very poor race while Vettel came back from falling in the end of the pack after a spin at the fist turn of the race. Fernando was special, but not THAT special. He lacked in focus when mattered most, in his later years, as in his duel with Hamilton in McLaren. And those are just other facts, not debatable at all, as yours. He had unparalleled talent, and probably so much that he couldn't relate to normal or mediocre human beings. Briatore proved to be the best team leader for Alonso as he could be the means between Alonso and the team. When he lost Briatore, he could never get in touch with the team again, and he found himself unable to win again. Is a coincidence that those stuff coincided with his departure with Briatore? I don't know, i just find his attitude was what drove him to be the best, from the skill standpoint, but the worse from the team relationship standpoint, and that in F1 counts, for strategies to be effective, and for the car development. Schumi was the best not because he was the fastest, but because he was not the best in anything but just amazing in everything. What Fernando wasn't. And you can argue, but there's a reason why Fernando didn't win that much. And i've asked myself too, as, by a Ferrari tifoso, i really loved Fernando and his drive style. And respected a lot him for what he did when won with Benetton Renault. But for that same reason i asked myself why then he didn't win as much as others. And that was the conclusion i could end up with. Because for which other reasons. Is known that many hated Alonso for his attitude, mostly probably in the McLaren, if you remember what happened in the team

      No. That was just like his previous laps. The difference was Alonso's defensive line at the last corner. He closed the inside line just in case Schumacher dives down there at the last second.
      While doing that he had understeer. And when he opened the throttle to the line he had oversteer. So it was a messy last corner from Alonso just for closing the inside line at the last seconds of the GP.

      I think it has to do with the loss of grip when driving behind another car in a fast corner. Could be the tires or gear ratios like another commenter suggested, but I think it's more about losing the grip when driving too close behind another car in fast corners, so you back of slightly instead of staying too close and then going too wide. F1 at that time was notorious for making it super difficult for drivers to make overtaking attempts. That's why overtakes from the past are more valued. Driver had to show real skill to find a way to stay close to the car in front and perform an overtake.
