Back in those days, one slip up and you are off the track on a sand trap or a wall. Today all the tracks have expanded off limits so that the cars can return. In those days you had to have BALLS of steel, be a little crazy and have extreme driving skills to try to pass on the track limits knowing that millimeters of missjudgment will result in serious accident and even death. Nowadays.....its like kindergarten with all those off limit paved roads and expanded apexes and the lack of sand traps. Yeah....."the tracks are basically the same".....pfft.....you must be young.

The areas around the track were not designed to help the cars not crash or help them rejoin the track. If you made a mistake it was so easy to simply crash the car or get stuck in a sand trap. There were no escape routes for those who missed apexes or a turn. This meant that the drivers had WAY more risk when they were planning their tactics to pass someone. This means they needed to be absolutely perfect during driving and careful. Today's drivers know that the areas outside the track limits are designed to help them rejoin and not crash. Which means they are more relaxed with their passing attempts. It's way easier for them to take risky decisions. This has helped drivers be more daring yes, but it also makes them be less careful when defending. Meaning they can now be more aggressive while defending knowing that the driver behind them will not crash easily. This fact has made F1 drivers more sloppy. And you see more crashes between drivers and less crashes because of drivers losing the car and exiting the track limits. I don't like this at all.
No DRS just pure racing, enjoyed watching the Master first in the Garage Last out, Schumacher is a Legend as well as Ayton Senna who should of been a multiple World Champion .

This is why drs is ruining the sport....lewis got away with fir years and now we're gonna see max do it to....back then the best car wasn't always dominating or ends up in first place. Cars used to overtake by brraking and throttle skills. Now we have drs its too easy and lazy.
to me F1 isnt the same since 2006 as well, but that is not because of Schumachers retirement, its because of they messed up everything in Formula one...they dont got V10 engines anymore, they have no refueling stops anymore, that gamble with refueling was just awesome...its been fantastic back then, but eversince these changes, i lost my passion for that sport...

@@Devil-024 both guys won most/all of their titles in faster cars (Benetton in 94 was slower then Williams but Hill isn't exactly near Schumacher, he needed considrably faster car to beat him in 96) There is a reason why certain drivers have best cars usually, because they are the best drivers.
@@Devil-024 He wouldn't, Senna wasn't as fast as you think he was. Being quick over one lap isn't as crazy as being as quick as Schumacher. Both had different cornering techniques but Michael's technique was faster, riskier and tougher.
True, and people forget he didn't need the best car to win races and fight for the championship. He was very close in 97, 98 and 06. And won the championship in, at best,an equal car in 2000, 2003 (car was good, but michelin tyres were much better than bridgestone). He had strong rivals like Senna, Prost, Pique, Mansell in early years, then Hill, Hakkinen, Montoya, Alonso, Raikkonen. Wasn't so easy like having the best car for 8 straight seasons and having rivals like Vettel, Bottas and now Verstappen

Overtaking over Senna France 93, and Silverstone 93 were incredible. Also over Mansell Barcelona 91 in the rain, over Prost Spa 93, and over Senna Montreal 93 and Kyalami 93 were amazing. Schumacher greatest driver ever.
Schumacher also overtook Senna in his 3rd race in Barcelona 1991, in the rain, (in the same lap he overtook Mansell). It was for a moment since the Beneton was not as good as Senna´s car, but the overtake was there, forever. Total master.

I was fortunate enough to be at that US Grand Prix at Indy in 2000, it was absolutely an SPECTACULAR experience! Hearing those V10 absolutely scream at 18,000 or so RPM was something I’ll never, ever forget! Schumacher won, for those who didn’t know.

monza 98 mclaren was beautiful on the kerbs of monza.. straight and clean..while schumacher savagely throwing his ferrari in the corners to keep up. and after la roggia, you can hear the screams of their engines one over the other.. wow
That was Formula 1 to me, Schumi. Every two weeks qualifications on saturdays and race on sundays. Without the DRS, pure aerodynamics and mechanics, pure driver's skills and the engine's cry for victory.

@@thiagocassimirodemello9263 eu me rendi ao talento e a determinação dele durante a fase Ferrari, e não só por isso, ele é injustiçado e todos os pilotos da geração dele não tem o devido valor, só o Alonso que é superestimado, todos os outros são carregados por sombras pesadas de dúvidas e críticas desnecessárias.
@@mdtxtdi pois é mano tava ficando chato o schumacher tinha carro bom mais a competição dele com outros pilotos ..os pilotos tinham um bom carro..ele ganhava com duas paradas a mais ou uma menos.. tinha uma confiança absoluta ..que podia ..e se não podia tentava tirar tudo do carro..

That was Formula 1 to me, Schumi. Every two weeks qualifications on saturdays and race on sundays. Without the DRS, pure aerodynamics and mechanics, pure driver's skills and the engine's cry for victory.
