@@RhettyforHistory Yes. The cemetery is at the highest point on the section Richard T Martin and his wife Mary and children homesteaded. Hartzell Township, NE quarter of S20 T13N, R2W. That section is bounded by North Coultrane Rd to the west, NE 122nd St to the north, N Sooner Road to the east and E Heffner Rd to the south. I can email you a plat map as well as pictures of Richard and Mary in 1898. Let me know if you are interested
My mom was a martin. I have lost touch with my family. I would love to get together again soon. Much love guys. My grandpa's name is Rufus Fletcher Martin.

They are new and you can clearly see that the cemetery had been mowed. We walked thru Johnson grass over our head and then the woods to get to this cemetery so we were shocked to see it mowed. Thank you for watching!

Another great cemetery tour!!! I really enjoy them! It's so relaxing to sit here listening to you read names and dates off... and the scenery is always so pretty! Looks like a lovely place to be laid to rest, for sure.
Funny how this cemetery has no road/street leading to it, but it's still so well kept. They must be getting mowing equipment in there somehow... and I can't imagine they're lugging it through the woods to get it there, LOL. Also, the same goes for the bigger equipment they actually dig the graves with and to install the headstones. There's gotta be some kind of an access road somewhere. Strange!

I believe there is a little dirt/rock road that leads in there somehow. I could see the road and trees cut back on it. It was a little difficult to see in the video though. I do think it is well cared for and maintained. Quite a few heros in there for the size of the cemetery. There is an interstate near and you could hear it but it was still very peaceful. That cemetery was there long before anything else. It's interesting to think about the changes that have gone on around it. I believe it does as well. When I enter these cemeteries it's all about showing respect to those in there. I take nothing but video and leave nothing but footprints. My goal is to share the stories if I can find them. They are fascinating little snippets of history. Thank you so much for watching my friend.

Nice little burial grounds. You would love Quaker Cemetery in Camden SC it has graves going back well over 200 years and some Medal of Honor recipients

I'm not sure what the humidity is but it is pretty bad here.
You mentioned "Frontier City". Do you know, or does any of your viewers know, how long that amusement park has been in existence? In the summer of 1962, along with my parents and little sister, visited my mom's sister in Stratford Okla. We went to visit their friends in Oklahoma City and with some teens our age, we went to an amusement park. Seems to me that it was north of the city centre. Is it possible that this is the same place? By the way. very peaceful cemetery. Love that someone is taking care of it. Great that you have heard from some family of the deceased. Love what you do.
Don't quote me but I believe the park opened in 1958. It was originally sort of a roadside attraction that was free to enter. It was open awhile before they started adding rides and other things. I'm not sure when the rides came and when it was considered a full fledged amusement park that required admission. My Dad has some old 8mm films of visits there in the early 60's. Weird have some other amusement parks. There were a couple other amusement parks that used to be in Oklahoma City. One was Wedgewood andwas Springdale. Springlake. I'm not sure if those ring a bell or not.
You're right about this being a nice cemetery. It really was nicely maintained and peaceful despite the nearby interstate noise. And it is nice to hear from some of the relatives. Thank you so much for watching!

Nice video!!! You need to see the hidden/ first cemetery in Chandler,Oklahoma. I think the city of Chandler or people are starting to maintain it. Lots of 1800's graves. North edge of Chandler.
What is the specific name of that cemetery? Sounds like it would be an interesting one to visit.

P.S. We pronunce our surname Weess with a long E. Let me know if you want pictures of Richard Tirey Martin and Mary Louisa McMurty Martin who made the 89 run, homesteaded this section, and donated the cemetery when their son died shortly after the run.

It always touches my heart to see headstones for vets from WW1. My grandpa served in WW1.

@@RhettyforHistory , I wish I could tell him that. I hope you don't mind if I tell you just a bit of his story. He would never tell us girls about his experience in the war but, he told my big brother. He said that a shell landed in the trench that he and his buddies were in. When he woke up he could hear and feel the explosions going on but he couldn't see anything.. Later it got quiet. Them he hears someone say "they're all dead in this one". He yelled out "the hell they are! Get me outta here!". He was the only one alive in that trench. If those other brave men hadn't landed on my grandpa, the rest of us wouldn't be here. He lost a leg for our freedom.

I think they have the history marked out as best as they could with the available records they had. Record keeping before the 1930's was not the best. Death certificates were not mandatory and if they were kept with a church or someone then it could be prone to fire, flood or just simply thrown out or lost. A lot of these cemeteries have had little sections lost forever. Sometimes people could have a still born and then bury him or her the same day or next day. People had to get on with life and truly did have to get back to work. It's interesting but really a completely different way of life then what we have today. There have been a few family members that have responded in the comments. One sent a link to a website and told of how a boy scout did a project of marking the graves in 2000 with the available records they had. That is certainly a great little project.

Great video love watching your channel I noticed a Weiss headstone and I cant help but think of Harry Houdini whose real name was Erich Weiss. Have you ever been to Belle Starr's gravesite?

@@RhettyforHistory your welcome always heard that she used to hide out at a place called Robbers Cave, I think that some called it Robbers Roost near Wilberton Oklahoma. I think Frank and Jesse James might have hid out there 2.
Robbers cave is definitely a good place to visit as well. I have so many places left to visit in Oklahoma. This state really was a hot bed for old west activity.

Theres an old cemetery out at Wilson Rock in Muldrow Ok you may wanna check out also one by the Overstreet Mansion that big and very old south of Sallisaw Ok ..and by Kerr lake theres a cemetery they use to call the childrens cemetery ......if you come around this area we have many old cool ones!

Love this, i looked on google maps and there does appear to be a road, although doesn't look like smaller cars could drive on it.
That's odd. It seems to be one extreme or the other. Either really old headstones or within the last 20 years for the most part. Some of those markers must have replaced headstones that were either damaged or faded to the point they couldn't be read and they just got the date range as close as they could. I was just thinking it seems more like a family cemetery, then saw the pinned comment. Interesting piece of history.
From what I understand from the family is that the ones with date ranges never had markers at all unless they were just wooden and rotted away. They knew who was in there but they weren't sure on the dates and a boy scout did those as a project. It's nice to know they were pieced together but I do wish they closer on the dates. I really expected this cemetery to be abandoned so it was nice to see it maintained. Thank you for watching my friend.

My Dad's is still going but my mom's is so far back in the boonies that I hear it is only accessible during certain times of the year by 4 wheeler.

Cemetery in Randolph County, Arkansas
Come to find out they grow rice in the area now which is why it is hard to get to know. It is near an old "town" called Richwoods Arkansas.
Come to find out my Great Grandma Lona Dillport was a rich woman they say and owned the whole area. Don't know exactly what happened to all the land, she died young and all her children, including my grandpa, where housed out to relatives.
Mom believes the Cemetery used to be joined to a church.
That's interesting about the rice growing there. Has it ever encroached on the cemetery at all?
@@RhettyforHistory she isn't sure. I've only just now seen the few pics online of it and of it flooded. You can't really tell it is even a Cemetery from satellite. But I think it gets close to it.
Mom says she has only been able to go once and that was about 45 years ago.
I don't think I've heard of a Cemetery in its situation. I hope to see it someday. But I live 9 hours away across 2 states

Great to see how war veteran graves are looked after in the cemetery. If they were laid to rest in a certain cemetery here in Australia they would by now be risking having the headstones removed and any above ground evidence that the grave was there removed So a new grave can be placed next to it leaving no trace that these people who fought to save their countries ever existed,
Is there an ongoing effort to remove veterans memorials in Australia? If so that is sad. I hate to see things like that happen.
@@RhettyforHistory Just mainly in one cemetery they say they are running out of room for new graves They are calling this renewal. Its not only veterans affected its anyone who grave is 50 plus years old from the 1st burial if more than 1 share the grave. It makes me so mad to think people think this is ok Especially those that gave their lives to protect us
That is sad. Seems like there is plenty of room elsewhere and those poor people don't deserve that. They are being robbed of their dignity.

There's a cemetry behind the og&e power across the Arkansas river in muskogee okla. Heading East . A very old cemetery dsting 2 the 1800's don't know where back there it is but the graves i hear r falling in. Plz check out. Don't even know the name of it.

The town was really just an early settlement when the lands opened up for the run. Apparently the Weiss, Witcher, Martin and Hutchinson families were a part of it in that area. Thank you for watching Jennifer!

Great video would you be interested in looking into a much older site with some of the latest dates in the early 1901 to 1910s births in the 1840s amazing headstones and nearly totally hidden by trees it needs to be restored before its totally gone Oklahoma county east of Edmond

@@RhettyforHistory i can't figure if it has a name i am currently researching it my self there is very limited access in the direction of the main road but there is also what is now private land on at least 2 sides of it that is how I became aware of it all parties involved will need to be respectful of the adjacent properties its quite a unique place
What are the roads where it is at?
@@RhettyforHistory Danforth between Post and Westminster exactly on the half section line south side visible from google satellite any access would have to be from Danforth to prevent trespass to be safe ...... Seems to be quite a few marked as well as quite a few obvious places where the ground has depressed with no stone

An old cemetery, but recent burials. Judging by the upkeep and burials in 2003, this cemetery ain't so hidden/firgotten
It's not hidden or forgotten by the family but the majority of people outside of the family do not know about this cemetery. It's really hidden and off the beaten path. People who live in and around Witcher don't even know about it.

@@RhettyforHistory there are more Martin family connection in love county oklahoma, then pioneer cemetery just across the border of Texas. It's a nice big family for 300 years of history here.
