I love seeing pastures next to graveyards and also small airports. I wish we had more small cemeteries like this here in California. And that’s another nice thing about visiting cemeteries. At times like this you don’t have to worry about running into anyone 😊👍

    • @RhettyforHistory
      @RhettyforHistory  4 года назад

That is true. I'm sure there are many visiting the big celebrities in CA but otherwise you probably wouldn't see to many in other parts of those cemeteries. They're always peaceful no matter when you go though. Thank you so much for watching my friend.

It's great to see how well-maintained this little burial ground is! Sometimes you can find a sign telling when the annual clean-up or meeting day is. I found one in a little cemetery near me recently. Those clean up days are usually around this time of year.

    • @RhettyforHistory

I have seen signs like what you are talking about. I bet most all of those clean up days are in jeopardy of not happening this year. I'm sure this one is probably maintained by someone near. I would bet they have family in there. Thank you so much for watching.

Enjoyed a stroll down memory lane.
I’m a former Yukonite of Canadian County, OK.
I remember back in the 1970’s, we played in the fields for miles. Myself and friends came out to Foreman and thought how old it was.
Thumbs up! Forehand was badly vandalized by High School kids. 1970s- 1980’s.
It was very mistreated and they had to take tombstones out of it because they were mostly like pieces of rock after they sledge hammered the marble stones and older marble chips, cracks and breaks to nothing especially after 100 years the limit of marble. So there is at least 2x the amount of people buried there , just no tombstones now. Just total misuse, there was trees down, beer cans, campfires in it too.
So time has been kind to Forehand now it’s cleaned.
Also the reason hey closed the road down beside the cemetery is because of building Cimarron
    Air Field, Municipal Airport.
    More like Private flyers now.
    Keep up the good work!

Seems strange to have a cemetery in the middle of no where. I’m use to seeing them on the outskirts of a town or near a church. But maybe that’s how the farmers, pioneers and settlers did it back in the day. I guess there could if been a small town there at one time. You take care also.

They really settled anywhere they could make their claim. Some areas had more people and towns were started or even little communities. Others just fizzled away over time. Guthrie, which was our state capitol for a little bit, grew to 10,000 people in one day. Other little pockets may have been 50, 100 or even a 1000. Thank you so much for watching!

I love all of your videos. I am in Holland, Michigan. Our Tulip Time was cancelled, it is a big celebration for a week. This is a Dutch settled area on Lake Michigan. Did your state have to cancel any big things.

Thank you Carole! I'm glad you are enjoying the videos. That celebration sounds like an interesting one especially with the Dutch and Tulips. We have canceled an arts festival that is pretty big. But one really popular celebration is 89'ers day which is to commemorate April 22nd, 1889 when the land opened for settlement.

I enjoy the history and stories that can be found in cemeteries. I also know that each cemetery has something interesting to see and find. Some just happen to have more than others due to so famous or infamous people who may be interred. Many emeteries are beautiful with art and architecture. Some are well visited and cared for and while others are abandoned and overgrown. I've always had an interest in the old west and being in Oklahoma I am in a hotbed for that. I really felt like some of these stories were worth telling and remembering and when I started sharing them then people started wanting to know more.
