    In this cemetery is Adeline Lee Younger Dalton, daughter of Cole Younger. Also, Sidney Whitecrane, also spelled White Crane, was born July 1888, according to his WWI draft registration, married Mary Emma Osage in 1911. Sidney’s military headstone application states he enlisted Nov. 6 1918 and died Nov 15, 1918, and notes he was a recruit and unassigned. I didn’t see a cause of death, but I would guess he died because of the flu epidemic. Sidney’s listed on the Indian Rolls as Cheyenne & Arapaho. Such a beautiful cemetery.

      You're right on the Dalton and younger connection. I will have a video coming out on that soon. That's interesting hearing the information you found on Sidney and Emma. I would have never known that without your research so I thank you for that. This is a beautiful cemetery and I believe there is a lot of hidden history in it just like you found.

    At 29:29, that is Christopher (not Christian) Potter Baker, Union veteran from Illinois. He is my great great great grandfather. He moved to Oklahoma after his son, my great great grandpa Charles (also a Union veteran), made the 1892 land run.

    • @RhettyforHistory
      @RhettyforHistory  4 года назад +1

      Thank you for adding a little more to the story. I know many of these union soldiers were able to come down about about a month before the run and pick out land. That's a big reason why there are so many union soldiers. They were able to get 160 acre lots. Seems to have happened especially so in what is now Frisco but used to be Veterans City. But it appears like it went from there on upto Kingfisher. I would guess it went beyond there as well.

    I have LOTS of family planted there. Hale's, Leitner's, Parson's, Beng's. Also in one corner of the cemetery is the Dalton family. Of the infamous Dalton gang. Mother Dalton had a ton of kids and like 4 were bad. The family is buried with a pillar memorial. Also Mother Dalton's last house she lived in is in the Chisholm trail museum, a two room dirt floor log cabin. The outhouse there was donated by my Uncle Marion. I hope it's been repaired. The door was wonky. They had to nail the seat down, because school kids would use it! Lol

    Hey there, Rhetty,
    That headstone for Buswell (the one with the eagle on it) was incredible!!! The list of medals he was awarded throughout his Service was definitely impressive. I think it's awesome they were ALL listed on the stone like that -- it just shows how proud his family is of him!
    Beautiful cemetery; it's so well kept! I can see why you've visited this one numerous times. Great trees throughout the grounds, as well, to offer lots of shady spots on those hot summer days. Very nice!
    The VA Memorial section was great too! I bet it's spectacular at night when it's lit up!

      I was in this cemetery on Memorial Day and every veteran seemed to be covered. I think the boy scouts, American Legion may have picked them back up after the holiday. This cemetery was really crowded that day so I did not do any filming. They even brought a bunch of port a potties out there for the crowds. This cemetery really knows how to care for those that rest in there. Thank you for watching!

    Hey buddy quick question what do you think about them taking down all the Confederate flags in history statues around the country are you for it or against it I'm against it I'm not Prejudice not one bit but that's history that's what we learned in school going up

    • @RhettyforHistory
      @RhettyforHistory  4 года назад +4

      It's a difficult question to answer. I see both sides of the issue. I know many of these things were erected much later during difficult times especially for the black communities. It's interesting how these were put up later even though they did not come out victorious. I can understand taking down the monuments especially when they are on state or city property. The challenge becomes on where do you draw the lines? There are cities, towns and counties throughout the south that are names after Confederates. The video I did on General Granbury is a perfect example. Whether the statues stay or go the history will always remain. It is a part of the American History. What I do not want to see is ignorance on memorials that should mean something to those opposed to the removal of the confederate monuments. Like the recent defacing of the 54th regiment who was the All black regiment that fought for the union. I do not want to see important things go that were a part of the actual history. Like the Appomattox Courthouse or various other structures. Again, where do you draw the line? Arlington National Cemetery was General Lee's place. It was dedicated as Arlington long before the Civil War and the name carried over. Of course as we know it has been used to bury the war dead starting with the Civil War. It was part of his punishment really. Things are changing for sure. I do want people to be educated on what they are doing though. I certainly think there are civil ways of having it done though. Memorials on individual graves should be left alone as well. At least in my opinion.

    Greetings from YeeHaw JCT, FL. I’ve driven past that cemetery many times back in my crude oil hauling days on my way to Watonga. Sam Walton was born in Kingfisher but I doubt he’s buried there. I wonder if there’s a confederate section there that you didn’t find? 🤷‍♂️

      That's quite a junction you are at or were at. Sam is buried in AR and I have done a video on him actually. There are some Walton graves in this cemetery though. I'm guessing they are probably relatives. I don't know if you are familiar with TG&Y but Young, the "Y" part of the name, is from Kingfisher as well. Lot of history in this little city. If there are any confederates there wouldn't be many. A lot of the Union soldiers were given160 acre allotments in the area or if they were older and wanted to live in town they were given smaller lots. They were actually able to get these before the land opened up for the run. A little detail that isn't taught in school. At some point I will do a video on that very topic. Thank you so much for watching!

      Yes. I’m familiar with TG&Y stores.
      They were all over California in the 70’s when I was a kid. I just learned something new again. 👍

      They were definitely a big chain. We shopped there more than we ever did Walmart or Kmart. In those days there were a lot more TG&Y's though.

      Yes I have. Numerous times. We have photos of the cemetery at night and day but I have never made a video on it. I do plan to though. I have a video from the grounds and church though during the Christmas guns celebration.

      RhettyforFun I had a person who works out there tell me something sad. There were a lot of African American soldiers stationed at Fort Reno. But they aren’t buried in the cemetery. Their graves are unmarked in the field you drive over to get to the cemetery. That’s sad

    I wonder if Donovan Wood is buried in a *KISS* casket? It would be interesting if their were Navaho Code Talkers buried there.

    • @RhettyforHistory
      @RhettyforHistory  3 года назад

      I'm not saying there isn't but there shouldn't be. Their reservation is in Arizona and for the most part this should be Cheyenne and Arapaho. There are some Comanche code talkers buried in Oklahoma. At some point I hope to cover them.
