    Would be a great swap meet rig, bag it and make her lipstick pretty.

    Given the aircraft production experience of the company that produced your tru k, it may have aircraft quality aluminum that will polish to shine like chrome - for an example of wha polished alcad-aluminum can look like polished, check out photos of Vintage Airstreams.

    • @4LaneBlacktop
      @4LaneBlacktop  4 года назад +1

      Yes, they will polish out really good. Im thinking about going that route. Lots of work though.

    I like this project a lot! Wonder if the aluminum could still be polished out or is it too pitted...anyway, it should turn out to be an extremely useful vehicle in many ways! Looking forward to seeing it develop! Personally, I wouldn't be too quick to eliminate all the glass as some light inside seems desirable, at least to my mind.

    • @4LaneBlacktop
      @4LaneBlacktop  4 года назад

      Its actually in good shape with no pitting. I think it would polish out good.

      Make her shine like new money! I like this guy's stuff, you might want to check him out on polishing: ruclips.net/video/jQ-Xt5niKhM/видео.html

    Now, I won't pretend to think this will be a piece of cake, but under the category of Totally Unsolicited Advice, I'd do the frame swap 1st because you'll be on a more solid base when you start the reskinning & redesigning of the front end for doors. I'm sure you'll work it out - this ought to be cool.

    • @4LaneBlacktop
      @4LaneBlacktop  4 года назад +2

      That will prob be the first step but I may skin it first. I have a lead on some doors so those will help out alot by saving some work.

    great score james those old Grumman’s were the workforce of America for a long time using the same techniques and products they use on old Airsteam trailers you could buff that truck up to a mirror finish if thats the look you want ?

    • @4LaneBlacktop
      @4LaneBlacktop  4 года назад

      Polishing it is they way Im leaning with it.

    Those windows are real bad,even if it were made into a camper the windows do not open,it would have been hot as hell in there.Are you going to fill in with ali or steel?the sides might have buffed up like a airstream? that would have looked great.You need to put the modern drivetrain on it,over here in uk they buy the old french citroen trucks and put ford transit frame and engine under them,a lot of people make them in to mobile food service selling coffee and stuff to eat,it's a big thing over here,side opens,they have those great big coffee machines like in starbucks,anyhow good luck with it,will be nice to see it done.

    Cool project
    What kind of front suspension is under that thing. If it's straight axle, I might be interested in it.

    • @4LaneBlacktop
      @4LaneBlacktop  4 года назад

      Yes, it has a straight axle front end. The entire chassis and drivetrain will be for sale once its removed.

    If I had one suggestion. Dont bother with that 4L60, save yourself the future swap out. Especially if you want to ever give that 5.3 some extra horses

    • @4LaneBlacktop
      @4LaneBlacktop  4 года назад

      I know the 4l60 is not the best choice, but for this project with the mileage, it will do.

    A brown wrap would be perfect! 😂 The super secret shop/storage facility has a unique Alfa Spyder there. I used to autocross one of those for Foreign Cars Italia back around 1985! Do you plan to tig patch the openings or actually reskin as you said? Polishing would look great but a retiree we know has an airstream trailer and he said the polish route isn’t cheap nor easy to maintain. Maybe the super secret facility needs a dustless blaster connection.

      P.S. I know you have nothing to do with it but all those Liberty Ins. commercials are distracting.

      I have thought about a brown wrap for sure. Not sure what I am going to do. I might polish it.

    Put a freezer and a loud speaker in it. You can be the creepy ice cream man. I know the parents in the neighborhood would be THRILLED!
    On the plus side, if you take it to your house, your wife will let you keep it in the divorce, but I am thinking she is going to get the Bentley. All she would have to do is show the judge pictures of that thing.
