I love this, I'm selling my house and buying a motorhome at the tender age of 54. I live in West Australia. For all the same reasons as Mark I can't wait, simple, minimalistic life is where it's at. Me doing my bit to leave a minimal footprint, and have minimal bills. Live amongst nature, and not in suburbia, I cannot wait. Well done Mark, your living the dream in my eyes.
It costs a lot to park your motorhome in caravan parks each night, and I don't know if your motorhome is allowed to park on the sides of residential streets for several days at a time Have you checked all the laws out?
I was plaster the wife a nurse in 2018 we built a van (lwb sprinter), in 2020 we jacked our jobs sold our house and have been travelling the UK and Europe ever since, it really was the best move we ever made, we'll never go back to bricks . Yes, but hopefully he is saving enough money to one day buy a small property or retirement home abroad. This is great for short-term or an extended term for saving a ton of money. But this is no way to live forever. Terrible quality of sleep and always roughed up by nature and vehicle maintenance.
He’s also living in a shitty van, with no toilet, shower, space to put anything, no fridge or freezer, no decent way of cooking, it’s freezing in the winter and boiling in the summer, and a constant feeling of insecurity because you can’t stay anywhere long. Plus you can’t have any friends over or sit down for a nice dinner. Most people would give it up after a couple of weeks.
I hiked from Mexico to Canada for 6 months with a small backpack and a tent. I loved every minute of it!!! Soaking with nature with minimal access to internet was healing.

There's nothing fair about it mate. Its dangerous living in a vehicle especially for women. I remember reading stories like this about people in America living in campervans and cars, crying that they had no life, washing and going to the toilet in McDonald's. But American has been a basket case society for a 100 years because of the J's and what they have done to their banking system. Migrants from Africa and India have now taken this mans home and you try to normalise it. That's sick and twisted.
While he lives in a van freezing cold and his country is overrun with migrants living in New council houses and you call that happy? Happy for who? You and your ego perhaps.

I have cycled around Europe for months at a time. A tent was my home and two pannier bags. Never been happier. My luxury was having a shower and a beer. I was never lonely, meeting so many friendly people and being away from the media world we live in. The construct of the consumer and mortgage world is for others to make money out of us, especially the banking system.
Lived in a camper van for 5 years, definitely some of the best years of my life. Good on you Mark, life is definitely for living and not just to pay extortionate bills. Love your attitude to life and can say that nature is the most important thing for me too. Being connected to mother earth is " real "
Well done Mark, thanks for an informative tour of your van. I've dropped out of working life at 57 and travelling in a small caravan with solar power - so liberating not being trapped in the system anymore.
I think one of the best things a person can do for themselves is let go of being attached to worldly possessions. Not easy to do. But if you can it's in every way possible incredibly liberating
For me it’s been 8 years full-time living in a small van - VW T5… Similar circumstances to Mark and similar age. It ensures I can continue to give my daughter a stable life and to give her a good education - especially in today’s economic climate. Since COVID, I also work in the van. I’m a Tech Nomad - as long as I have a good 4G/5G network I can work remotely. To be honest, I do have a few challenges - especially legal stealth wild camping in England - and the usual issues of living in a small space. Hopefully we’ll meet on the road someday Mark.
Hey mark,you got a double AA attitude.you is a STOIC brother.well done,well said,and well lived.freedom is a state of mind,minimise things,and maximise life,respect and good luck.

@@hechecraynes6635 I find that living in my van is better in almost every way compared to living in a rented room/flat/house. We can have running water, we can have heating etc. Some things are more difficult but not impossible. It's cheaper, I work in different places so I have my home close by, I can look at a different view every day when I eat my dinner.
I took magic mushrooms and they cured my addictions, depression and anxiety. And since then, I’ve bought a van and I’m currently fitting it out to live in it. I feel just like this guy. I love nature, don’t wanna be part of the rat race, just wanna exist in peace.
@@marktwain-ik6vp sorry but I think you’re half wrong. Mushrooms made me (and plenty other people I know personally) ‘realise’ things. Once you ‘realise’ you don’t have to think a certain way or do a certain thing, you can’t un-realise it. It becomes part of you immediately. Imagine trying your whole life to solve a puzzle. Then one day you find how it works. You can never not be able to solve it again. It becomes instantly easy. No matter how many decades it took. Mushrooms made me realise I gave my trauma and depression its power over me by thinking about it all the time. I realised I could just never think of it again. And I haven’t since. It’s like that part of my brain had all connections to it, broken. One of my trips was me holding a door closed while monsters and demons were banging on the other side. I was exhausted from holding it closed my whole life. Mushrooms bust the door open and through it came nothing but peace and love. I didn’t even feel stupid that I wasted my whole life holding those things back. I just felt so relived.

I enjoy camping and was very interested in the video, why hot tenting sucks. i think it applies to campervans too. If I do one day, will replace the stove, kettle, fridge with a tour bike and lots of panniers. Therefore travel a lot more on bike instead of wasting petrol.

I am now in the process of selling my house and building my own van for ny future life with gaming set up and all!
Good luck to any on their jorney!
Western Australia is so beautiful, absolutely my favourite part of your country, hope I will be able to return some day. All the best!

Yes, but hopefully he is saving enough money to one day buy a small property or retirement home abroad. This is great for short-term or an extended term for saving a ton of money. But this is no way to live forever. Terrible quality of sleep and always roughed up by nature and vehicle maintenance.
hmm not so sure id want to be showering and washing my clothes in a ditch
He’s also living in a shitty van, with no toilet, shower, space to put anything, no fridge or freezer, no decent way of cooking, it’s freezing in the winter and boiling in the summer, and a constant feeling of insecurity because you can’t stay anywhere long. Plus you can’t have any friends over or sit down for a nice dinner. Most people would give it up after a couple of weeks.
I hiked from Mexico to Canada for 6 months with a small backpack and a tent. I loved every minute of it!!! Soaking with nature with minimal access to internet was healing.
A Bricklayer with a ''can do'' attitude can achieve many great things. The funny thing is a man like him has built many other people their brick houses YET he lives in a van...The man is a national treasure.

Since COVID, I also work in the van. I’m a Tech Nomad - as long as I have a good 4G/5G network I can work remotely.
To be honest, I do have a few challenges - especially legal stealth wild camping in England - and the usual issues of living in a small space.

@@hechecraynes6635 I find that living in my van is better in almost every way compared to living in a rented room/flat/house. now the real work starts, an external substance can't fix permantely. just show you the way
@@marktwain-ik6vp sorry but I think you’re half wrong.

I have been a vanlifer since February 2020, and I have driven from London to West Africa roaming from country to country in Africa for two years, came back to London last year and I am still in my van and loving the freedom. Videos on my channel of the journeys. Nothing beats freedom.
@@MadMarkThePopularLoner Thanks 👍🏿

As a 60 yr old I can see the advantage of the simple life, funny but I am also a bricklayer a bit fed up with the daily grind .
Although I've spent the last 10 yrs living in a small village in Bohol in the wintertime when work is scarce here in the UK .
Your video is certainly a inspiration to me .
Take care be safe .
I quite agree with you about the extortionate rents and increase in costs of living, council tax, etc. I really liked your video and agree with you wholeheartedly about breaking the shackles.
Good luck to him. It's hard to do this in the UK because of our weather. He's disciplined, which is what you need to be a minimalist. Most people can't bear to be parted from all their stuff.
@E Zo true, but it’s generally dismal
@MrPistolpete1234
No it isn't. It's generally mild and manageable, and rarely creates any big problems like many other countries. More days with sun than with rain too.
@@lyndoncmp5751 Yeah I just acknowledged that. Just I don’t like grey skies and/or drizzle for 75% of the year
@@MrPistolpete1234
Where the fvck do YOU live? It's not grey and drizzly for 75% of the year where I live. In the south. In fact I love rainy days. I have far fewer rainy days than sunny days.
Its 30 degrees and scorching this week.
I cannot wait to start van-lifing. I have been planning for years. Once my youngest moves out then I am off 🤟
Yesssss
Go for it 🙏

What a lovely man you are Mark...You only need the simple things in life for wealth, health and happiness ❤
What a bloke - video put me in a great mood
Yeah nice love to see no frills no BS van living no glamour just a bloke living in his van enjoying the space he has created this too me is what van life is about
Great video! Me and my other half have lived in vans on and off for the last few years. Always kept a house and rented it out went in the van and travelled round Europe, Australia and Southern Africa. Always love the vanlife! Currently selling our house and buying a really small place as a base, then it’s back in the van for us and not having to work too much! Bit of digital nomad work from the beach and mountains!

Currently living with my family like this. I agree with everything you have said. Inspirational video. Great to watch
Love this guy’s energy ❤️
Good man, keep happy chap
I have watched more vanlife videos than I care to admit but YOURS has by far been the most helpful.
Just seeing how happy you are sealed the deal for me.
I'm going through my belongings... keeping only the essentials and making the jump.
I believe I'll be out on the road by Oct.
Be well my friend and thank you for sharing honestly and covering all that you did.
Nailed it !
Totally relate! I live, travel around and film in my little Urvan and mostly in the Australian wilderness with my two dogs. It's been a year and there's definitely no turning back, no regrets, ( just that i wish id discovered my path sooner in life) but everything has happened at just the right time. I just love it! Mumma nature feeds me, guides me and nurtures me. All I need, I have.
@Mad Mark The Popular Loner🥰 It feels like I've won the lotto☺️

@@ottouring Hey there🤙🏻😊👋🏼 I’m keen to get high north videos for my viewers👌🏼🌄🌅🦶🏼 I subscribed to your channel 😊Yeah I’m ever grateful to be amongst all the diverse beauty and landscapes we have here and to capture it! Peace bro 😎
VAN LIFE IS VERY A STRESSFUL AND VERY A INCONVENIENT LIFE!!!! NO RUNNING WATER TO CLEAN YOUR BODY NO PROPER ELECTRICITY FOR PROPER TEMPERATURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At 47, appreciating the simpler things in life is something I wished I learned years ago.
I'm currently building a house mostly on my own and live in a caravan. At first I thought it would be crap, but now a year later I love it. Cant say that for the house. I totally get the van life concept. A bit of hardship is a small price to pay for jettison all the stress that goes with the traditional system. Props to you!
What a top bloke he sounds. Fair play to Mark!
Long time in a cell. Love this guy. Brilliant.
This man is a living LEGEND!

Been living in a self converted Citroen Berlingo micro camper for nearly 12 months. At 53, it's something I wished I'd done years ago. Anyone reading this and thinking about vanlie should just do it! If it doesn't work out then at least you tried 👌
