Hi there, wow, fantastic van/life, i am planning to do the same asap, i live in a flat in Dundee too! haha, this is the sort of life i want for myself. I have been trawling through the videos on youtube for ideas and tips etc, discovered this video and i will look forward to more content if you post on youtube? Take care.
What a charming guy who is mesmerizing as he shares his incredible van life. I bet women and men alike were imagining sharing his van ... I know I was 😊. Glad I could view this inspiring video.
I've been living on wheels as a nomad in the US for 19 years now, it's easy over here. I'm toying with the idea of returning to the UK (born in England) and doing it there, but at 62 with a teensy pension, I'm not sure I could afford even that lifestyle. Enjoy the videos, keep them coming, it's helping me to figure things out.
So good to see people taking charge of their own life, whatever that looks like👌...Btw you're a good speaker David....could bring some more positive changes for you!🎉 (Made me kinda think of kinginit)
Love this video…less is more…and freedom is priceless!! Kudos to you for living your dream on your own terms! Alternative living is the way to go, this housing market is soooo out of control and doesn’t equate happiness…connection to self, community, nature, God, and the beauty of our world is entertainment enough! Greetings from Brooklyn NY mate! 😊

I may be a 70 year old woman, but I do love to see a man in a kilt. If men realized how masculine a man looks in a kilt, more would do so. It is becoming, not common, but no longer never seen. I am a van lifer in U.S.
This is my dream to run off in a van since I was a kid ,my daughter might be moving out soon and her middle name is Sky not Skye though lol great van!!

What a great episode. We're both in our mid 70s now so only go out for holidays but in our late 30s we went to live on a narrowboat with 5 children. Go for it, you've only got one life!! Good luck to you.
Smart man. Get your life the way you want it while your young. Now, you find pleasure in simple things. Better late than never. Cheers. Watching you from Ontario, Canada.
Must admit that I couldn't imagine you doing this, when i worked with you over 8 years ago, but you always had a really positive attitude. Really hope we can catch up when you travel to Spain this year.
Me and hubby used our van last week. Stayed near Loch Lomond. I agree. Even in Scotland. Teddy bedding. I woke up numerous times boiling lol. Was in the Highlands last year. Love Scotland. Still got many places there to see.
We are from the Midlands, we absolutely love Scotland, and last September, we where lucky enough to see the northern lights on the Isle of Mull, can't wait to return in September this year, where we have a month to explore 😊 great blog subscribed, looking forward to many more blogs.
Love your van and also that you are from Dundee! I am in Florida but my maternal grandpa was born in Dundee and later grew up in St. Andrews before taking off and seeing the world! My grandpa lived to be 100 so I got to know him well and hear his stories and life. He was a Fyffe (MacDuff clan). Married and came to America in his 30s, had 4 children. I have owned two VW Westfalia camper vans in my life and loved them. Wish they made them again. Traveled most of eastern America in them.
Thank you for introducing to us another fellow traveler with his head screwed on right. ♥♥ I enjoyed this video so much, that I'm off over to Instagram to see more of David.
Awww loved this guy. I'm a Scottish gal and I just appreciated everything he was saying about the life we are "expected" to live and then being able to break free from that. And just not give a toss about what others think. 😂 There's a part of me that craves such freedom and I've watched loads of van lifers but I loved relating to a man from my home for a change 😊
Freedom, lol. They take orders from England. They were not allowed the independence results of indyref 2 because it was not sanctioned by Westminster, lol.
Love love this. You are a free spirit and loving life. My husband used to live onboard his yacht in Plymouth. He was retired. Then we got together and he moved to N Ireland. I loved the freedom of having no ties and the simplicity. We sailed round Scotland for the past 4 years with our dog. Got married in Plockton with just our kids and the dog. Unfortunately due to Ians health we had to sell up and i now drive our Motorhome! Big changes but just had to adapt. Planning a 3 month trip visiting all the places we love but just by road! Leaving Ireland in June. Stornoway for Heb Celt ( 4th time) then up to Orkneys for 1 month. Considering Shetlands too! We love Scotland so much. We have another dog with us this time. Bit of a tight squeeze but off we go! PS we have a wine and whisky stash too!
Laughing at the no swearing sign as he lets F bombs go off! 😂😂 guess it's just a suggestion more than a rule. Lol! I have the same van in American version, midsize wheelbase & short roof which I can still stand up in. Love the accent. I miss my grandparents. Mom born in Dumbarton came to the US as a toddler. I have a lot of family in Oz, I was actually born out there to Scottish parents who moved 'home' when I was 10. My cousin was telling me about how crazy the house prices are now, it's bonkers! so I reckon you're on the right path to some kind of freedom from that shite 👌
I wish David had a youtube channel. For those who limit their social media to facebook and youtube then we have no options to watch him. Great van. Great kilt. Cute knees. :)
Brilliant. I love seeing that more and more people, of all ages are taking to alternative lifestyles. So right that many people say they wish to do something different. The hard part is actually doing. But if you can find the confidence to try, it is truly rewarding.

I love this movement but I have to question, why are vans specifically so popular? The MOD surplus stores do whole pre-made trucks for this that are far better suited and maybe even cheaper, the only difference is the license used for them. For example, the old MAN HX. These often already have pretty decent living arrangements and I'd wager most have generators for electronics meaning you don't necessarily need to go to the trouble of adapting them. Their build quality means they're unlikely to break with the potholes at the expense of diesel. But with the larger surface area, maybe solar is more of a possibility too. Think people are missing a trick on it.
Not something I personally considered. Vans are readily available and many convert them themselves. The roads in Scotland are often single lane up in the Highlands so I personally wouldn't want anything bigger than mine
Love the van and your attitude for life, as life is definitely too short, and if i was driving past and you stepped out looking like BRAVEHART i am afraid my ABS breaking would be tested to the max 😂😅 i am originally from Belfast, but live in a wee seaside village near Portpatrick in Dumfries and Galloway, it is packed with motorhomes round here in the summer 🚛 Drive safe and enjoy your new lifestyle!! I have a solid job, decent salary and hardly any debt... I kinda wish i could get a van but again in Denmark.... oh no! one need a solid address to live and work here! screw that!

Good insulation, Air conditioning and a magnetic midge net for the side door. They can go in and out as they please when you're parked up. I've met loads of people who have dogs in their vans
My parents offered to use their address when making the decision. I did consider a PO box as well but you can't register everything there.
