  • Just a brief walk around and introduction to my latest project. It's an aluminum body built by Grumman Olson. They used various chassis'. This one is a Chevrolet P30. It's a 1 ton van with a solid I beam front end.
I've done some trading and will be swapping in a 5.3 lm7 and a 4l80e trans. I'm hoping to utilize 73-87 Chevy c10 front cross member and suspension up front. The rear will be swapped from the big 8 lug 1 ton unit to a 6 lug one from the same year c10.
I'm still on the fence about putting it on air ride. Money is tight and so is the head room inside. If i drop it like that the notch cover in the rear will be intrusive.
Anyways thanks for watching and hopefully before too long I'll be making some progress.
Any suggestions on a name for this thing?

I have a 1961. Very similar. Vacuum wipers though.

    Nice van!
We revived a 1964 GM P30 Kurbside, 12' body, very similar to this. Your find is more complete than ours was.
Our project was removing and boxing the 1-ton frame, swapping to 64" rear springs and 52" front springs, GM based, and going to Dana 60 and AAM 11.5 axles with a Cummins 6BT/NV4500 manual transmission. Around 30K miles on it since 2017. It's a 4x4 camper that tows 10K+ happily.
