Unfortunately that only works in English language and either needs rework done or doesn't work at all in other languages.
Nevertheless, it's a nice trick!
I think you could modify the questions based on the language you want to use for the trick. Or you could use a "magic language" and spell out the card names in the most magical language of "English".

I don’t see how on the last card spelling it or counting yields the same result. Ten is different than 10
bro it all depends on the first card it does not matter if you continue counting the cards what really matters is the top card of the third pile

So this trick is so awesome and easy. How awesome and easy you ask? Well, thank you for the question. Allow me to answer it for you. I practiced this on my 3 year who doesn't even know what cards really are, and she wanted me to perform it for her back to back to back to back to back... you get the idea. I also immediately created a few variations.
1) I introduced a dice roll to determine how many times the deck is cut by my spectator.
2) I ask the spectator to pull a card, but not look at it but instead picture what they think it is. Now the trick will determine if they have ESP. Both blew away the minds of everyone I've shown it to.
One point, don't let the 3 year old handle the cards. Mine bends them, and now my spectators think it's a marked deck.
I like your contributions, but can you elaborate on the ESP angle? If they never see the card, how can the reveal be impactful?

@@velocibadgery But they would most likely be wrong with each one. Or do you mean they would call a random number and then adjust your routine if they said an even number for the color?
This trick doesnt work on my wife because she always insists to shuffle before I do any magic tricks lol :(

On one of the latest videos Brian (him) actually let his daughter shuffle the cards, put the cards back into the box, switch the deck and then said he would do a trick. Hope it helps ;)
Learn how to do a deck switch. There are many ways. I like cooler technique. Let her shuffle, then switch to ordered deck.

I have been watching since nearly the beginning as social engineering and magic are great interests of mine. I'm not one who hangs out in bars much so I don't get the opportunity to practice stuff on anyone more than my kids usually. That all changed with this video. It's such an easy trick and I finally, for the first time asked a stranger in a bar, can I show you a card trick? It went off flawlessly, and the stranger was amazed at the trick. Great ice breaker trick. Now to work on that repertoire... Thanks for everything you do to share your knowledge, Brian.

That's awesome. I guessed it was a Stebbins, and I saw that little subtlety the first time but that didn't make it any less delightful. I'm gonna add this one to my routine.
ehrichweiss yeah, I saw the subtlety but thought it was just an honest mistake. Though I should have known better.
Another way of doing the last pile, is to count out the cards from the top, as shown in the video, but keeping the top card slightly injogged. When you have counted out the cards, you are left with a small pack with the top card injogged. Move your hands together in the act of squaring up the pack, put your right thumb at the top of the small pack and your left thumb on the back of the injogged card. That will allow you to put the small pack down, while retaining the top card on top of the deck. Makes sense?
The subtlety in the video is great, however if you were to perform it again, it becomes suspicious. So it's nice to have different ways of doing it to avoid suspicion.
Pope Christopher something I've learned is to always be suspicious if "mistakes" by magicians.

I'm trying to translate this to a Dutch (Flemish) version. Red = Rood, Black = Zwart, Clubs = Klaveren, Spades = Schoppen, Hearts = Harten and Diamonds = Ruiten. I'ts kinda late right now, but I'm stuck and I Can't find a combination to land smack on the 13th or 26th card. (yet) Any help welcome, thanks! Great channel BTW! Keep it up!

For red, instead of spelling out R O O D and then another card, use the D card as your predictor.
As for the others, no clue except maybe trying that same thing
EDIT: Steal one on the reds, and try using singular on the blacks. I assume that would give Klaver and Schap?

This did not make my top 10 list for lie detractors not so Stebbin stacks. Too many moveable parts with stealing a card for hearts and picking the top card as the 3rd pile. Seems a little too much to go wrong. I like and worked it out 80% of the time, however the Top Tricks are practically Fool Proof yet just as or even more amazing often times mathematical only.
Ughhh.... am I doing the trick wrong? The hearts* and diamond part doesn’t work for me. Can anyone help?
For hearts, you have to sneak an extra card. Also, spell HEARTS in plural. DIAMOND in singular
my math teacher split the class and gave us a few locked boxes with math problems to get into the boxes. Apparently your supposed to figure out the math problems to solve the code for bike locks and other locks, not just pick them. Thanks to you i had no problem

I was making this mistake, only get them to spell it out when its jack queen or king, and make sure you take the half below the card chosen. You notice in the video he takes the top half and put it at the bottom, its very important

I love the Si Stebbins tricks. One of the first ones I learned.
For something light and fast, once you're familiar with the system you can use your knowledge to quickly "guess" a player's card.
Maybe have them perform a few cuts, and then have them draw the top card. After just a sneaky glimpse at the bottom and a momentary calculation, you can reveal their card's value to them any way you want.
However the better method of selection would probably be like in this video, where he cuts the deck at their card, and then glimpse the bottom card while they're studying their own.
this takes way too long to setup...
guess you just don't have what it takes to be a magician, then. :-(
What I meant was that there are other tricks that I practise that don't take 15 minutes to setup for 1 minute of performance.
Sorry, but I have to agree. The setup time and complexity of the moves is just not worth the mediocre outcome (it's too obvious that it's an ordered deck).
Keep in mind that a stack is a utility tool. They can be used for far more than the application listed here. Not only that, but they've showed us how to retain the stack even after the trick is over!
Mikey C I agree, and I do use stacked decks, but they’re worth setting up because they result in great effects. This however takes a lot of time to set up for an average effect.
What if the expectator says "ACE" and asks you to count instead of spell it?
Well I guess don't give the "count" option and just spell it out?

Shwood kinda messed that up. David Rowen specifically said only number cards...but if you want to get around that "Ace" = "One".
this is definitely an upgrade to 4Q2 card trick

I do shape order instead of CHASE order. Spades, hearts, clubs and diamonds.
I came back to this after several weeks of not practicing it and it only worked half the time. My error? I was revealing each result right away and consequently was mixing up when red or black cards should be used. Going forward I think I will spell hearts many hearts with many equaling 1 card down so I don't have to worry about stealing a card. I can do the many equals 1 card down silently if I am concerned that someone wipl catch that. I'm pretty sure these 2 points will make this stickbin my memory better.

can someone explain to me why you have to "steal" an extra card with HEARTS rather than just doing HEART, similar to cutting the S off of SPADE?
Because you need to line it up for the next step choosing the number. Red has fewer letters in the first step than black, so you need to be longer for the second step to catch up.

This trick is called Automatic Lie Speller and is in 'The Card Magic of Nick Trost'. It is a great card magic book worth getting.
So it's all about the ordering, the spelling of the words and some mathifaction.

I thought that was the accounting guy from Parks and Recreation.
I am having trouble with this trick when ever I set up the deck in Si Steppin order and CHaSeD order. When ever they cut and choose a card. The card at bottom will lets say be a 10 of hearts which means the king of spade should be at top, but that be the card they have or if its ace of diamonds at bottom they will have the 4 of clubs what am I doing wrong?
It does not work if you are drunk and forget half-way into the trick how it works :D but is is still worth it for comical value

Devin M. For si stebbins to work, you need a set of cards with none missing. Otherwise it won’t retain its cyclical nature.

This makes me think in casinos when they riffle shuffle and ask you to cut the deck it deck it doesn’t actually matter
It's just to change the top cards. You could shuffle a single deck 200 times and still have the same card on top if you do it right.

For the trick, I totally noticed the red-black and the switching the card order that Brian claims to have missed, I also noticed that the lie detector part is not working. What I could not work out is the maths of getting the numbers to work.
Count out twelve cards from the original. The thirteenth card is your target.
If red is chosen, count three + one (detector 1) then seven + one (detector 2).
If black is chosen, count five + one (detector 1) then five + one (detector 2).
It doesn't matter how many you count out on the third pile, the top card on that pile is the thirteenth card and your final detector.

I understand why it was made into a lie detector trick but I don't like how it is a lie detector. It's saying that the card is part of these choices and we come up with telling them they're lying or not. I think it'd be better in this setup if you didn't show them the cards until the end, to show what the card actually is, and instead while the trick progresses keep the cards to yourself and call their honesty out saying the cards ratted on them or something
Landing Gear Yes, I would personally perform this old classic with a marked deck.This provides you with more flexibility in this respect. The reveals can be made to seem more pure.

If your still wondering, make sure you only spell on jack queen and king and when they take the card, take the top half and put it on the bottom, the top car should be the card below the one they chose.
