Brian warned them that someone had his kids and was threatening them if anyone ate another bite of salad, but those cruel women just wouldn't stop. I understand, though, I mean, those salads looked *_really_* good!
For the perfect square one, I would’ve moved the right match to touching the left one pointing up, to make a number 4, which is a perfect square number.
The interesting thing about the first puzzle is that, in this case, this also worked with the number of vowels in each name, with each vowel being equivalent to 5. sUsAn = 10, IsAbEllA = 20, rIchArd = 10, jIm + jOhn = 5, jEnnIfEr = 15.
That last one brought back do many warm and fuzzy memories form child hood. I learned that paper portal when I was a kid. From Don "Mr. Wizard" Herbert!!
For the "Words that use these letters" one, he never said "words that ONLY use these letters", so my word puzzle brain instantly supplied "finagle" as a solution.
I've been watching scam school for a long ass time now and have always appreciated the commercials but this one...... This one is, by far, the best for me. I've watched it about 10 times now and am still laughing!!!
Never heard of the curse of knowledge concept...as a magician and bar betting afficianado, it is really easy to think other people put the work in to learn this stuff. Thanks for an awesome episode!
I LEARNED THE LAST TRICK IN 4TH GRADE AND I WAS SO FREAKIN HAPPY WHEN HE PULLED THE SCISSORS AND THE PAPER OUT AND SAID WALK THRU IT OMGLOB THIS EARNED A LIKE
I got the three word one in about ten seconds, but I don't think I would have without looking at the letters. Impressive that the guy came up with "glean" in his head.
Alternative answer for #1: Number of vowels * $5 Alternative answer for #2: With the four matchsticks aligned in a +, move the matchstick from the right to make a 4. Voila, perfect square.
You sure about that? With a + by moving a match from the right to the left you get the shape of a digital Y which also looks like a 4. And it is almost a square. BUT This is still not a square as a square needs one match to be on all 4 sides. A perfect square will not have any open sides
The walk through the paper trick was in an episode. Only it was cut a card big enough to pull your body through. No way I can find it through 700+ episodes but i promise its there
Brian, you don't need to worry about being replaced. I got every single one of these (though I did think the first one was the number of vowels in the name) and I think I only got like 2 of yours in the video of your closers
I thought the portal one was you would cut a small hole that you could just walk On or thru with your fingers. Cuz Brian said he learned it as a kid and as a kid, I used to use my fingers as “legs” to walk.
haven't thought about the trick of fitting through a sheet of paper for years! better yet I've not shown my 4 year old (he loves some of the tricks I've picked up from watching this) also if you wanted to turn it into a gotcha you could always make them use the same piece of paper - by that point it would be un-unable
Update - he loved it and found it hilarious. btw, (on the chance you read this) here is a simple puzzle for you but has a gotcha in it. Line 6 glasses up in the following order (also the glasses should be almost touching or with hardle any space between them) : Empty, Full, Full, Full, Empty, Empty Moving one glass how do you get it so the glasses alternate between being full and empty - Bonus how do you make sure you get a drink out of it even if they get it correct.
@@christhompson8003 I like your setup of the glasses better than the common way of 3 full next to 3 empty. yours seems trickier. I give up, how do you get a beer if they get it right.
@@gatorguy87 like you say, its a common trick - the difference is that when you pick up the second full one and pour the beer into the last empty one you make sure that's a glass they know is your and had previously been drinking from. Probably would work well with whiskey... but depends how much of a mooch rex is feeling
BrushWOOD! You said you never had this on scam school before but I strictly remember there being an episode where another magician you've highlighted showed it off with a playing card.
I used to do the final challenge with a playing card, and the challenge was to make a hole in the card big enough to stick your head through. Since I specialize in card magic, it made sense to use a playing card for that challenge.
The 'walk through a piece of paper' I swear I saw in the Sunday comics at one point, like a 'Slylock Fox' comic. Way back in the 80's when we still read newspapers at least.
The first one also works by counting the vowels in each name, each vowel having a value of 5: S *U* S *A* N -> 10 *I* S *A* B *E* LL *A* -> 20 J *I* M -> 5 J *O* HN -> 5 J *E* NN *I* F *E* R ->15
WEDNESDAY WIDARD POWWERSSS!! Great episode!!! Loved the multiple scams in one video... Would love to see more puzzles and riddles... of yea, and MORE FIRE!!
As a suggestion for the show you could consider doing more productions with youtube personalities and stumping them with these puzzles and simultaneously asking them to execute those illusions or scams to other people and make that as a show. Same show with youtube folks :)
1:45 Lincoln's way worked too, and you get the same answer if you say 5 per vowel susan 10 isabella 20 jim 5 john 5 richard 10 jennifer 15 works, i'm sure, because of the high correlation between vowels and syllables
My answer to how to make the equation correct was to move one of the matches from the = to create a > symbol, so it would read: VII > I I don’t care what you say, I’m still counting that as a win.
I got the first one right, but not for the right reason. I had the number of vowels, times 5. o/` You don't win friends with salAD, you don't win friends with salAD...
I think the best bar trick I saw in a while was ………. you take a empty bottle of liquor a bar straw and a toothpick you poke the toothpick through the straw about 3/4 the way up then put the longer half of the straw in the bottle resting the toothpick across the opening of the bottle now tell somebody to get the straw out of the bottle you can touch the bottle or move it but it must remain flat on the bar the trick is to get the straw out of the bottle without touching the straw or toothpick ???? …… the trick is catchy the bottle works best with higher proof liquor and bottle must be recently empty I seen people blow in the bottle shift the bottle back and forth quickly scratch their head cuss and yell ???? in the end the guy took a lighter got it near the bottle when it hit the fumes like a rocket it blew the straw out so hard it stuck in the ceiling of the bar lmao
Is it weird that I got all of these except the "what do women equal" which Brian was right... was too vague to give the answer required. Also, the paper thing... Mr. Wizard's World. Taught me that when I was like 9. If you don't know what I am talking about... You missed out as a kid. Go check it out. RIP Don Herbert. We miss you.
That ad was amazing. *Her face when eating those couple extra bites of salad were priceless!*
Also, sorry for your loss, Brian.
Omg who died?
his kids probably, as they were kidnapped by evil salad ladies
Brian warned them that someone had his kids and was threatening them if anyone ate another bite of salad, but those cruel women just wouldn't stop.

For the perfect square one, I would’ve moved the right match to touching the left one pointing up, to make a number 4, which is a perfect square number.
I ruined the likes from 7^2 to (5^2*)2
Me too!!
You can also move the top matchstick of the equals symbol, pivot the right side down and make 7 greater than 1.
The interesting thing about the first puzzle is that, in this case, this also worked with the number of vowels in each name, with each vowel being equivalent to 5. sUsAn = 10, IsAbEllA = 20, rIchArd = 10, jIm + jOhn = 5, jEnnIfEr = 15.
exactly what i thought
omg i thought it again!
@@defnotisaiah3210 lol I've done that same thing where I'll see a video and go to comment just to see I've already commented lol
for the perfect square, move the match and make a 4, which is the square of 2
exactly what i thought about
Thought that too.
That ad has always been one of my favorites
That last one brought back do many warm and fuzzy memories form child hood. I learned that paper portal when I was a kid. From Don "Mr. Wizard" Herbert!!
Checked the comments to see if anyone else learned it there also!
Same
Well it's time to create a Domai... hey look is a salad!
For the matches making the square, I was thinking of making the numeral 4, which is a square number (2x2)
For the "Words that use these letters" one, he never said "words that ONLY use these letters", so my word puzzle brain instantly supplied "finagle" as a solution.
Coincidentally, I got the first one right, but guessed it was the number of vowels in the name.
I did the same I was like well easy 5 for each vowel duh
English tends to divide syllables using vowels.
Me to google: meaning of syllable😂 language related questions were rocket science for me😅
more, more, more ... I'm cursed and I want more
I've been watching scam school for a long ass time now and have always appreciated the commercials but this one......
This one is, by far, the best for me. I've watched it about 10 times now and am still laughing!!!
Thanks so much, man!
The sponsor part was killing me I literally was asking myself what the girls were about and then he mentioned they were his daughters, hahahahahaha
If you're very careful, you can walk through a gum wrapper.
Never heard of the curse of knowledge concept...as a magician and bar betting afficianado, it is really easy to think other people put the work in to learn this stuff. Thanks for an awesome episode!
Mr. Wizard's World showed me the last one, what an awesome show that was.

Angel, angle, flange. He didn't say we couldn't use more than those five letters.
I got the three word one in about ten seconds, but I don't think I would have without looking at the letters. Impressive that the guy came up with "glean" in his head.
I got angle, angel, and nagel, which is German for nail. If he didn't say it had to be English, that's his fault.
Alternative answer for #1: Number of vowels * $5
Alternative answer for #2: With the four matchsticks aligned in a +, move the matchstick from the right to make a 4. Voila, perfect square.
I like your solution to the matches in a + but unfortunately in order for it to be a perfect square it will need a match on all 4 sides, not just 3
@@THEMODERNNERD616 what?! You like his idea yet you don't seem to understand the idea.

To solve the first, I added 5 to each vowel in their names.
The add was wonderful.
I like how the add was an old one - and one of the best
Brian, you don't need to worry about being replaced. I got every single one of these (though I did think the first one was the number of vowels in the name) and I think I only got like 2 of yours in the video of your closers
Like, I should feel smug but I'm actually disappointed... I want to be fooled!
Lincoln looks so happy
The last one has been covered on scam school before, it was done with a business or playing card but only enough for someone's head to pass through
i mean, depending on how you count, at this point we are getting dangerously close to 700 episodes
I thought the portal one was you would cut a small hole that you could just walk On or thru with your fingers. Cuz Brian said he learned it as a kid and as a kid, I used to use my fingers as “legs” to walk.
5:38, you can also just make the equals into a greater than sign
Say in your phrasing, "...without messing up the equal sign"
Re the perfect square: I'd have moved the match on the right to vertical on the other end of the left stick to make a 4 shape. 4 is a perfect square
haven't thought about the trick of fitting through a sheet of paper for years! better yet I've not shown my 4 year old (he loves some of the tricks I've picked up from watching this)

The salad just killed me
JESSICA PUT DOWN THE DAMN SALAD
I learned a magic trick when I was 4 and I thought it was garbage. I recently showed it to all of my friends and they all got stumped.
BrushWOOD! You said you never had this on scam school before but I strictly remember there being an episode where another magician you've highlighted showed it off with a playing card.
Rich Ferguson did the body through a playing card.
For the roman numerals you could do this VI > I
I used to do the final challenge with a playing card, and the challenge was to make a hole in the card big enough to stick your head through. Since I specialize in card magic, it made sense to use a playing card for that challenge.
The 'walk through a piece of paper' I swear I saw in the Sunday comics at one point, like a 'Slylock Fox' comic. Way back in the 80's when we still read newspapers at least.
Jennifer puzzle also works with vowels.
Wow thanks now I can go to the bar and get free drinks without paying
Wow, that's genius! Way better than my plan of getting free drinks by paying!
Though mine is more foolproof.
Finally a way for us dudes to get free drinks!
Micah Philson 😂😂😂 legend
Yeah, I hate paying for free stuff
On the second one, you could also move one match to make the number 4, which is a perfect square.
For the make a perfect square one, I though move one match so that it spells out the number 4. Because 4 is a perfect square into 2.
The second puzzle, if you move one match you can make the number four, which is a perfect square number
I'm pretty sure the "walk through" paper was in one of the American Girls books, or one of their companion pieces. Weird place to learn it...
The last one has been shown on scamschool
3:17 BOOM!
3:20 Lincoln, mind blown
In the perfect square challenge, you can move one match and make 4...which is also a PERFECT SQUARE!
The names also work with each vowel being worth 5.
Trick 7 reminds me so much of the head through a playing card done on Scam School
I’m not sure if I watched a new episode or a scam school remix?? Cross over episode
you did cover that last riddle on scam school. you did a episode where you had to walk through a playing card before.
you should do the game of Nym. where 12 objects, stones, or coins are lined up, and you take turns taking stones, whoever takes the last one wins
glean, angel, and angle i got in 3 seconds, i feel like a damn genius. i may miss the rest though
Think I'm in love with the salad eating redhead
I'm thinking about domains.
Those glasses suit you well, wear them in the rogue episodes!
7:17 has so much potential for memes
Sorry EU
Hahahahaha so true baby girl!
The first one also works by counting the vowels in each name, each vowel having a value of 5:
S *U* S *A* N -> 10
*I* S *A* B *E* LL *A* -> 20
J *I* M -> 5
J *O* HN -> 5
J *E* NN *I* F *E* R ->15
I remember learning how to do that last one as a little kid, but with a playing card
The entire time Lincoln was like "WTF these White boys doing? Why am I here?" 🤣

5:37 doesn’t really look like the square root symbol; maybe if you had snapped it in half first. As it is, it looks like “VT = I”
Love IT...but gonna say this again. .pls pls plssss another pickpocket tutorial
Brian I just wanna say I loved hacking the system on the tv
11:59
Brian's reaction reminded me of David Attenborough, for some reason.
9:13 I would have done this: Take one match from the right triangle and break it into 3 pieces to create a triforce shape in the left triangle.
This episode was brought to you today by the letters r, o, b, o, t, s and the number 3
1:45 Lincoln's way worked too, and you get the same answer if you say 5 per vowel
susan 10
isabella 20
jim 5
john 5
richard 10
jennifer 15
works, i'm sure, because of the high correlation between vowels and syllables
Doreen wouldn't really work with the vowel rule. I guess this could be an alternative!
The last one was done on Scam School by Diamond Jim Tyler with a playing card.
I love this show! Keep at it! If you don't have enough time or ideas do them with longer interwall. It's really good!!!
I want to see Scam School and the Modern Rogue to come out to Philly
The first one you can do 1 vowel is 5 too
I never realised anyone didn't know the paper one either
wow, I just had a flash back to Mr. Wizard.
I learned that paper portal thing on the Mr Wizard show. I wonder if Brian learned it from the same place.
My answer to how to make the equation correct was to move one of the matches from the = to create a > symbol, so it would read: VII > I
I don’t care what you say, I’m still counting that as a win.
Words using L,G,N,E,A - Englishman, Englishwoman, Anglo-American.
Before I get the answer, I just wanna say, Glean, Angle, Angel.
For the first one, if you count the vowels instead of the syllables, you get the same results. So the first guy’s theory wasn’t wrong.
That domain commercial 😂
Only got the Angel and angle answer because my daughter is called Angel. Love your channel Brian!
Drive a parade through a newspaper with that last one
For #3, change the equal sign to a greater than sign

oh men, that closer, I learned it on a Simpsons magazine, is quite amazing to have it back from... I say 20 25 years?
"Nagel" actually means nail in dutch, (as in a fingernail), so you were not wrong!

I went with Jennifer is 15 because of the number of vowels.
