      Also what thickness of MDF did you use? I want to use MDF asnit ist light but durable enough to use.. I am thinking about buying 3mm thickness and use the method you showed here with the 2x4s and glue and screw them in place..

    Dude! Thanks about 3-4 months ago I started building an outdoor movie theater in my back yard on a budget based upon your videos. Because of HOA I could only build 12x12 from the ground up (not perfect) also, your updated video I built my first panel for the star ceiling for my home theater shed. Furthermore, I hate sheet rock it sucks my home theater shed is still a work in progress, maybe I will post pictures later once again thanks for the inspiration keep up the good work.

    I do this for a living for a company and they are a pretty fun project especially when you start adding galaxies, planets and stuff like that or a shooting star across the panels. Also we use fibreglass sheets with black fabric wrapped on top. But that’s specifically for sound absorption.

    Thanks for sharing again. Great stuff. Curious on how you added safety tethers to each panel. Was it just a tether on each corner that you somehow fastened to panel and ceiling?
    I too am afraid if I do something similar with the star ceiling that the magnets could fail and get dislodged for any reason. Thanks!

The only problem I see with it is it wouldn't be fun to have to walk outside of the house to watch tv or a movie, especially if you just had to go to the bathroom while watching. I also live someplace where it can get really cold in the winter, making that walk even less fun.

    Hi, i'm looking to make a star ceiling myself, I tried doing it once with static fairy lights attached to the optical fiber that went through a board. This time around I'm hoping to go for a light engine. in your experience, does the light engine tend to get hot? does it require any kind of ventillations to make the whole setup less hazardous?

    I absolutely love the way you broke it down and explained the process of doing this. It makes it very straightforward to follow, and I look forward to doing something similar myself. My one question/concern though, could the fiber optics directly covering that vent get damaged when the heat is on? Likewise, could that fabric being that close to it be a fire hazard?

    • @MANSHED
      @MANSHED  2 года назад +1

      I have since removed the fibers and fabric from directly under the Ceiling unit to keep good airflow and not be any kind of hazard.

  • @MrDuncl
    @MrDuncl Год назад

    Can the fibre optics swirl? A big appeal of old ones using colour wheels was that effect. Seeing your projector made me think how epic it would be to use a projector as a fibre optic light source.

    sick setup! You're inspiring! Now I have something else to add to my bucket list.
    I think it would be cool to have a workspace/shed/more of a mini-warehouse really... where you can literally build anything... From C&C machines, to 3D printers, to Wood or metal working, welding. Heck even a forge. That'd be my dream space. What would I use it for? To build anything imaginable, from cosplay/Halloween costumes, to tables, desks, cabinets, artistic designs and patterns, tools, weapons, props, computer/mechanical engineering type stuff for innovating/advancing current tech... I'd even have a section for milling my own lumber, treating it... storing it... Oooo and can't forget a section for glass blowing.
    I'd call it the, "Humanity's Last Hope" Shed.
    Pretty sure it'd cost somewhere in the ballpark of 1-3 million UDS lol.
