    My cousin did this to his new car and out turned out amazing. A neat trick/tip that helped him with keeping track of the stars to keep the right amount of dots was he counted out tiny removeable dot stickers beforehand so he an his wife could set them more organically while keeping track of how many but also remain flexible enough to change things... like the accidental swastika constellation. lol

    I customized vehicles for 30 years, but I'm currently walking a different path. I've sent vehicles to any show you might think of, minus Pebble Beach, and a couple of other very specific type of restoration, or NOT type of shows. All that to say I've gone behind way too many crap installs, and yours looks neat. I hate following up (fixing) installer's work with lazy, doesn't care, burned out, or whatever's going wrong installations.

    Lol I'm doing this project right now for my new ford escape and just got done getting the headliner completely out and with a pencil i mapped out the entire galaxy. Every constellation is in its correct spots, matching the sky and locations of each constellation. It took literally all day just to map out the grid and match each star using a Equatorial Star Map. It's definitely a true piece of art. The best I've ever done in my life.
    Instead of just poking random holes everywhere

    • @Starbz
      @Starbz 11 месяцев назад

      Explain how do u map out constellations and transfer it to the headliner. i was thinking print out on a plotter at fedex print and then tape it to liner and the make holes. do you have a pic we can see of yours?

    • @MirTheMC
      @MirTheMC 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@Starbz lol u take ur headliner out, then take a constellation star map image off google images, make sure it has grids of I think like 12 lines vertically and 24 diagonally so it’s shaped like a rectangle. Now take that rectangular grid and apply it to the headliner with a #2 pencil very lightly, take your time. Patients is key. After gridding it, connect the dots. Do one constellation at a time. Once done. Replace dot with tacks. You’ll need about 644 tacks because in our galaxy the constellations make up about 644 stars, so you’ll need an extra set of them led wires and you’ll have to cram it in with what ever led modual u choose to install it with. I used 644 leds and about 159 broke as I was putting it back in because I got impatient and used enhesive instead of a glue gun or gorilla glue lol it still was bright enough to cover every hole. Plus if u mess up drilling like I did and the liner would twist with the drill bit and break my bits because u need to use to tiny bit. I learned u don’t need to press the drill button, u just have to let the weight stab it through lol so I had to add a new layer of black. I just went to Walmart in the fabric area and they cut me out the size I needed and boom my shit looks like the sky on point I get compliments all the time lol

    What I do when I do them for customers is I’ll divide the strands into 4 sections and then I’ll take the whole strand and hold it up in the interior where the strands would run to where you would mount the box through the pillar from where the headliner would meet up with the c pillar and put a zip tie around where it meets with where the headliner and c pillar would meet and then after that zip tie I’ll divide the strands into 4 sections that match the amount of the 4 sections marked on the headliner and then run the strands to the longest point where u got the stars marked and then if theirs a lot of over hang trim it to where it’s a few inches longer than the furthest point so u don’t have to run 5 ft of strand through the holes and then start on the section closest to where it runs down the pillar so ur not trying to work over the strands if you would’ve tan the furthest section

    That’s fantastic! Between you and MacKenzie how many manhours do you think you have into it? Looks really tedious and time-consuming, but worth the results!

      Thank you and yes very time consuming but 100% worth it, can’t wait to see it in the truck.
      And as far as man hours, oh boy if I had to guess probably just in the starlight 8-12 hours after work but that’s getting set up every time, setting up the camera etc. Someone with a free weekend could knock it out in a weekend.

      @@NeverSatisfied24v just finished it a few days ago took me way longer then expected.. it took 2 weeks but that was mixed with long work hours and spending time out doing stuff .. it was really time consuming, the suede took a day to fully cure and the holes were really challenging because the suede would get caught so I had to change up drills and everything.. I also had a few wrinkles and rips in the suede but its not horrible because you can barely see it. The panels were the worst part. I took a can of spray paint and had to paint everything and when it came time to put everything back paint was either chipped, peeling or the screws were missing. I now see why they charge what they do but I love how it came out because I did it on my own even tho its not great. I also completely forgot about my sunroof so I now have cords going through that and under my visor 😂

    Do you have to adjust the color and speed on the remote for the shooting stars every time you get into the car, if its connected to the interior light fuse.
    Pretty much, I’m asking, let’s say I set my shooting stars to a certain color and speed that I like, and then I turn my car off, and that turns off the lights. When I get into my car later, will I have to set the color and speed back to what I like, or will it save my liked setting for me every time?

    • @shiftside8128
      @shiftside8128 Год назад

      If you wore it to your lights or just whenever your car is on or off they should turn off whenever you turn your lights off or if connected to your car whenever it’s off they should also turn off with it but you should still be able to manipulate it with the remote either way
