    With Xmas coming up and it getting cold, get settled in and sit back and watch it all, 10 videos cut into 1 with intros, outs and all but one sponsor section cut so its all free flowing. Thanks to the #furzarmy for loving this project as it was a LOT of work but one of my most enjoyable builds.

      Colin, the best way to solve your elevator for the car is to have a round lift that turns 90 degrees. You come in at an angle then turn 90 degrees and drive out. Its the most simplest thing you can do. Lift up and pivot below.
      Things to consider when building a lift like this is who water will drain around it. Thought needs to be considered. The best way is to have the pad when pressed closed to be the catch pan sort of. Much like a ring around it that can fill with water and then a larger pan slides in under it to collect the water then that water is pumped back up to the street level. Its also very unlikely that it will be water tight. The main catch basin could have an open bottom to allow water to naturally soak up.

  • @jdawg2003
    @jdawg2003 2 года назад +5839

    I know that this won't get seen, but a suggestion for the car lift. You could use parts from a hydraulic elevator to lift the car. Many of them can support 4,000 lbs, and a DeLorean only weighs 2,800 lbs (according to google). Then, instead of a rectangular parking area, make it a circle. That way you could build a turntable with a ring gear, pinion, and electric motor. No big tolerances necessary. The mechanical advantage of the ring gear would make it "easy" to turn the car. On top of the turntable, add some beefy posts that attach to a second platform which levels with the garage floor when the elevator is down, and flushes with the ceiling when the elevator is up. As a bonus, the car can just be set spinning on a slow rotation for display!

    Colin, I'm impressed very much. However a suggestion for vent tubes. You should consider on top of vent tubes to do an upside down 'U' bend. This will keep any rain, leaves. wind blow dust or particles, etc. out of it. Also place a screen of some type on end of vent. This will keep any insects (bees, wasps, hornets, etc.), birds, squirrels, etc. out of tube. These creatures like strange places to invade or home in. Then do periodic screen checks, to make sure it's still in good shape. Just a suggestion. Also, one or two good fanned exhaust vents, with a few open and non fan vents, should cause the air flow to be drawn in with a good air flow. I enjoyed your video. Though a woman, I am a machinist, have own milling machines, and I too make and improvise needed parts or contraptions to work for me. I have an IDEA:
    The turn mechanism doesn't necessarily have to be underground. Have a circular disk turn the vehicle after it rises. Also, the roof could be retractable, almost like the way convertibles do it, such that when the car garage comes up, it appears minimalistic. This will allow you to insalll a disk large enough to turn two cars at the same time. Also, it will provide a place to park when you do not want the cars to be underground. Now, I want to see you build this!

    Hey Collin, great job on your tunnel project. May I ask, at the place over the tunnel, what is the thickness of the mass at the thickest point? Also, have you considered Radon Gas. This is created from naturally decaying radioactive material in the soil. This is not a problem until you create a pocket, such as your tunnel. This issue is easily remedied by installing a positive flow vent, venting the air from the tunnel area to the outside air. You can test for Radon Gas hiring a company with the test equipment. A test usually spans over 3-4 days while the equipment samples the tunnel air. Radon is a exciter for cancerous issues. Just something to consider. Rob-

    Colin, the wife (Archaeologist) suggests that the air voids/ cracks you've found could have been where previous structures could have historically existed, especially being so close to the Roman Villa that was found. Also says be super thankful you haven't found anything significant, could have opened the archaeological can of worms and become a dig site which would derail your entire tunnel!

    Underground garage
    Your scissor lift or your hydrolic lift preferably drops below your lower level floor. However leaving the floor itself on the sub floor. Turn table spin the car around. Which means your exterior wall can't be directly under your ground floor. That does add a level of difficulty. So next idea..... the floor on your lift is a sub cart, lowered pins drop out of the floor releasing the cart to roll freely, and you simply push the car and its table out of the way. And giving two sub parking areas under ground. First car you pull into the garage, after lowered, you posh the back of the car so it would then be side ways and push the car back in to its little cubby. Out of a second cubby have another wheeled table that you roll out and ready for lift to raise up replacing the garage floor and providing a place for a second car below ground level. How big of a system of parking? How big is your wallet. This system can go on ...... this is an expanded idea of an idea we used at an antique car museum I use to take care of. That system you pull the car in, jack it up put a cart that saddled each wheel independently set it back down and rolled the car freely. In that museum each car sat unless displayed else where so each car had quick connect battery and fuel cell for long term storage and readily available to drive with out a worry of bad gas or dead battery.
    Idea for tunnel is spray foam on your walls to cut out echo and sound deadening. If the turn table or just free moving floors don't work ...... I'm sure I'll come up with more ideas. Those were just off top of my head.
