Still the sharpest shooter I know. Paul, it is so good to see you. Roy, your explanation of 30ft in a building vs. a parking lot was such an interesting point I didn’t think of. You all are such a great team.
Yeah, I see people my age complain that “.45ACP has too much recoil” and then you see a guy like Paul who can shoot groups like that even when he’s sick.
Just want to let you know paul. I came to your channel late, but man there just that more information to learn about. Thank you for all the effort you have put into this channel.
So happy to see Paul doing so well. I would be lying if I told you it did not bring a tear to my eye. Keep up the fantastic videos Harrell brothers!!!!!!!
Was just telling myson and daughter in law this about a week ago. She is smaller frame, not a lot of physical strength and has a condition where she experience joint pain relatively easy. While i wouldnt recommend 22lr for self defense, it might be the best option for her, and certainly better than a pointy stick. But i explained the importance of shot placement and target choice with 22 lr in particular. There is very little assurance that aiming for "center mass" of the body with 22lr will stop the threat, but aiming for the center of the head will definitely have a higher likelyhood of stopping the threat. Great video, very informative and will share it with them!
Good on you looking for viable alternatives for your daughter in law and her particular circumstances. Firearms are truly a great equalizer for self defence.
I'm a stage 3b lung cancer survivor, and I promise that somedays you just can't.....and I mean anything. But everyday I fought to do the things that made me who I am. And this is what Paul does, it's who he is, and he won't give up. Good you see you Paul.
No slight to your brother, but it's good to see you and it's good to see you looking and sounding well. I lost my father to pancreatic cancer, so no illusions here. Just hoping you have as many good days as possible, and greatly appreciate when you are up to sharing some of those with us.
It's nice having two internet uncles to teach us all about firearms. I've been a firearms owner for 25 years now and I still never tell anyone I'm an expert. I'm just a guy who likes to shoot from time-to-time.
I like how you're discussing the real world variables in range/distance! So many don't consider it (Or better yet, MOVING TARGETS). Taking into account the 'Justice System?' Even better! 'Shot placement.' What Papa always defined as: "Aim small. Miss small." (DECADES before Mel said that in his movie!). By far the single most important thing I always consider when doing any serious shooting/training. All else fades-away as hitting the target exactly where I need to becomes everything. The smaller the caliber (.22LR in this instance), the more important it becomes, esp. if shooting any living target (Pest Control or game/meal).
It is so great to see paul staying as active as he can and still participating in the videos. We should all be grateful for each one as he is choosing to expend energy just for us.
Paul has a rare talent, and it's not his shooting prowess. It's his ability to look at and reasonably discuss the ENTIRE bell curve of what might happen without dismissing the outliers, pointing out the most likely but also addressing the "what if's" without being dismissive. In short, he tries to speak truth...not dogma.
So good to see you on camera again, Paul. And thank you, Roy, for being such a great brother and keeping the channel going. You're both absolute legends!
Paul and Roy are fantastic teachers. Thank you so much for providing firearms education we can use as a basis for our training, I will practice with my 22LR revolver this week!
I finished the video in one breath, with its usual blend of educational and enjoyable content, thanks! By the way, I %100 believe that Paul will recover, I can almost feel it.
It is great to have these new videos with Paul. This is a really good format for Paul and Roy to create content together while seated at the table; they have enough experience and knowledge that we can all learn a lot from their discussions.

Paul it great to see you doing your thing, thanks for your knowledge you share. Im now 74 years old, and have been under fire many times from different distances, and I will share a couple stories that had happy endings. Back in 1968 up in the mountains of Utah, I was fired on by a guy with a 12 gauge shotgun loaded with bird shot who was over 100 yards away and the pellets hit me and the ground and trees near me but did no damage, I quickly pointed at center mass with an old SW 38, but not wanting to put him down, I shouted to him to watch the tree he was standing by, and shot once hitting the tree inches from his head, and shouted next one go in you, he played his gun down and it was over. Second story, in 1972 I was on horseback in CA mountains, and only had a 22 cal revolver, a guy 400 yards from me shot in my direction with a scoped 06 rifle and the shot whizzed by my head, I pointed my 22 at him about 5 feet above his head, then adjusted point of aim to just land on his left side about 5 feet away and fired once, in a few seconds he left the area fast. So you do what you can with the gun you have in the moment.
Despite all of Paul's health challenges, he still shoots and reloads better than 99% of the people out there. True professional.
His persistent skills are a testimony to the advice to train a lot as the muscle memory persists even in sub optimal conditions.
Paul: “That’s a flyer. That’s just me.”
Me: “I just got a Paul Harrell flyer. Man, I’m making some vast improvements.”
I'm a pretty decent marksman but I strive to be "average" like Paul one day.
