Great talk! A needed reminder that we are only beautiful because of the gifts God has given us.

After having more of a think about this I thought of the Prospero quote from The Tempest: "We are such stuff as dreams are made on; and our little lives are rounded with a sleep" and for reading the classics this play has that higher selves versus animal aspects in Prospero versus Caliban (the supposed monster animal) yet you can see how neither act completely according to their supposed nature eg Prospero can be consumed with revenge at first and uses deceit to get what he aims for! And Caliban (the animal side of things) might be merely lonely and misunderstood? 😊

We're all animal, but we should develop our divine soul from HaShem

Firstly im going to one of my staples the Dune books by Frank Herbert. The early ones chiefly the first point to a human being defined from their control of their awareness against fear, pain or instinct. This is supposed to be a contrast with an animal who can't master their primal senses eg the adversaries the Harkonnen are supposed be brutal, acting on passions and base desires. But the point is in the book that it's never as clearcut as that: it depends on how we define a human's act of will. Secondly, I've recently watched a tv programme on Bigfoot and mysteries and it covered bonobos a species of chimpanzee whose DNA is very close to human. They were shown in the lab to communicate with so many pictures on a screen so they could learn language, and they expressed what look like emotions ie anger, care, and affection, and were described as having a wide range of sexual practices just like humans have! I'm not saying there's a free choice of action as much as a human being but then again is there such a thing in the first place as we're subject to things like instinctive responses too and hunger and can be injured etc. So yeah we are animals: it's what we decide to do with what we are that's important surely?

Animals can’t suppress their impulses, as far as I can tell. We certainly act like animals if we don’t learn to properly react or ignore impulses
      Ps enjoyed your thoughts!
