He has a testimony that’s undeniable and shows the routes humans are capable of taking with a lack of love in an abusive household. The forgiveness he shared about in his testimony reconciling with his father is tear worthy. He’s who a lot of young men need to aspire to act like! He’s at peace with himself through Christ and it shows. He’s a rare breed

Johnny could convert people, he is a legit disciple.
To be fair, it seems like he knows the Bible... But not the subject(s) at hand, especially not the gay thing. So besides quoting the Bible or talking about his personal life, he simply had no real truth or wisdom to speak of. His patience, respect for others and ability to speak respectfully becomes irrelevant if you don't contribute or have any knowledge on the subject being discussed.
Being gay is NOT a choice and he clearly doesn't know that (double ditto for the girl in yellow, but that's another can of worms). So for someone to be so about the Bible talk, it really shows just how inaccurate Christianity (and many other religions) really is if they're wrong about something so significant.
This was the most reasonable, calm Middle Ground episode i have seen. It was nice to have the participants actually talk and listen to each other instead of yell over everyone.

He tells us HOW to judge. We are not called to mock or condemn but to call out in love and truth as well as to warn

Trust me, we all judge. Whether you are religious or not it is human nature. I think it is very difficult to have a conversation with anyone who is committed to misunderstanding your point. These are very loaded conversations and we are all carrying our experiences with us, and so these conversations are always going to be extremely difficult - but it’s important to lead with empathy and understanding first

It’s spiritual warfare. These “ex-Christian’s” don’t recognize that there are literal demons putting thoughts in their head. They don’t have the Holy Spirit to guide them or understand it, but it’s also their choice.

Whenever they said, “this is my interpretation,” they were referring to things not explicitly stated in the scripture like God’s intentions (which cannot be understood by humans). As for God’s instructions or standards, no one said any of them were up for interpretation.

This is the one of the calmest and nicest episode I've seen which is crazy of the ability of belief.

I know the lady in yellow may not of sugar-coated anything, but she has real emotion and love behind what she's saying.

Johnny is so humble, meek, and knowledgeable. He is a great example of a follower of Christ. You can see God’s love in him. Especially with the non-judgment towards others
this guy is bold , hes aware of the place he has been, his visible firmness comes from Holy Spirit for sure.
He does show the true heart but that is where a lot of Christian’s get it wrong. We are actually supposed to judge and hold each other accountable. I know how he was meaning what he said but I do wish that he would have had a chance to dive in deeper or at least give the explanation of why we are to judge. Most people will get mad that I said that but we are to judge the outward appearance of what a Christian should be doing. We are not to judge someone’s heart which is God’s job. People will say that I’m a judgmental bible thumper when that is not the case. They do not understand what I am saying.

People often mistaken soulmate only as family members, friends, spouse, teachers/professors/mentors, partners/colleagues, people who you are with for lengthy amount of time. And I am sorry if I sound like I am forcing my opinion on you. But I think soulmate or soulmate-esque people can be someone that you only meet just for a short while that you were meant to come and help or come to help you when in the time of need. Or in those came come together to work just for a short time to help others who are in need
When some of us coming here will have fear of death/afterlife/damnation/or nonexistence after death during our time here. For ourselves or loved ones. These eight had volunteered, let’s meet at this date and time and remind everyone that it’s going to be okay. In the end everything is going to be okay.

I would say that the reason they are ex-Christian’s are BECAUSE they are gay. Most people who leave the church are lgbtq people. So it’s not exactly a shocker to see that all of them are gay. Like this shouldn’t be new news that the church hurts many gay people and that’s why they leave.

this is a great video. another reminder to not judge others. I was frustrated with some of the comments made on the christian side at points but I respect and am impressed by the conviction of each one of these people. it was also beautiful to see them all show respect and love for each other despite the seemingly uncrossable bridge that divides them.

Most atheists can do the same. A lot of us studied a lot because we were frustrated we couldn't find any rationality in scripture. Learning it creates a reciprocal trend where the more we learn the less we believe.
Not trying to debase this, but I think a lot of Christians can cite scripture but can't like...explain it. I'm not a Christian anymore, but there are key passages that were engrained in my brain from childhood that I was told to repeat so many times that I'll never unlearn them. 1 Peter 3:15 and John 3:16 are like the pledge of allegiance... churchfolk all know it and it's not particularly impressive that we can rote memorize and recite it.

It's interesting how a lot of people don't understand that the reason Christians use long examples. is due to the fact people misunderstand what they say. I noticed that too. I think it indicated a lack of objectivity and genuine curiosity in the group. Thinking you already have the truth can be one of the biggest hindrances to getting it. Everyone starts out ignorant but those who won't listen/observe will remain that way. Since he was interrupted, they'll likely never know what he *was* going to say and therefore won't know if it was worth hearing.
