Jesus wasn’t nice because He didn’t want to go to hell. He was nice because He was, indeed, genuinely a nice person who never did anything wrong to anybody. In fact, His kindness was just the tip of the iceberg. He was and is SO much more than that, so having faith is about so much more than just being nice.
You missed the point.... we can’t go to heaven just because we force ourselves to be nice. You have to genuinely want to do it. I didn’t help kids in 6th grade with suicide and cutting themselves to make me look good and take me to Heaven. I did it because I wanted them to go to Heaven. You missed something.
But here's the thing it is not our works that lead us to heaven, it is our faith in Jesus Christ. @@tpawesomeness2526 being a Christian is an active choice. There are so many lost texts in Christians due to the denouncement of Judaism by the Protestant/Catholic church, King James, and just overall colonialism. So in other words it’s an incomplete text. That doesn’t remove the validity but the fact that you are absorbing an incomplete text, and only including the Old Testament for personal convenience goes against the core of Christianity. It’s ideology and faith not law, so there’s room for interpretation and context.
@@TheJacobiedwards What lost texts are there? And is he really all powerful if he allows sin to happen? Or is the devil his accomplice in that regard? Christianity leaves no room for logical and critical thinking, just blind faith on zero evidence. Ugh
@@ange949 I agree with you that religion simply asks for too much and offers too little in return, and I’ve asked myself the “why does hell even exist?” question many times, but to be completely fair on one thing here, “allowing sin to happen” is a simplified view on how that works. What Christians believe is, God imbued everyone with free will, to make our own mistakes. This is a major reason they’re all pro God and this is one part of the religion I like. I don’t so much like how the suffering of a given sin isn’t mitigated for the benefit of the innocent and the promise of the sweet relief of the pearly gates is all the reassurance humans are meant to be afforded, but the actual system for sinning and sinners themselves does make a sort of air tight sense. Again, except the hell thing you pointed out. If damnation can be bypassed as simply as believing in Christ, it’s sort of rendered null and void isn’t it? The only reason it’d be kept around is to punish nonbelievers such as ourselves, or more accurately I guess, anyone who doesn’t accept God and Jesus and whatever else into their hearts upon their death. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing." delivered her, she said, "My Lord, I have delivered a female." And Allāh was most knowing of what she delivered, and the male is not like the female. "And I have named her Mary, and I seek refuge for her in You and [for] her descendants from Satan, the expelled [from the mercy of Allāh]." accepted her with good acceptance and caused her to grow in a good manner and put her in the care of Zechariah. @@eliesh3833 Completely disagree if you are to have political opinions they should come from a kingdom / Bible perspective. Not a worldly one.
@@DudeImWayBetter What does that even mean? Politics themselves are a worldly thing. That's why faith should be separate from political belief. If you base your faith entirely on politics, then it seems like you're believing in God for the wrong reasons.
There's actually a verse that may support this.
*Mark 12:17* "Jesus said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” And they marveled at him."
You may advocate whatever political beliefs that you want to, as long as your faith in God does not become intertwined with these things.
Your spiritual faith should not be placed in people or material things, only in God.
And if anything, I feel that being politically unbiased whilst supporting aspects of both sides is more Christ-like then just being one or the other. Both sides hold biblical values just as they both hold values that are unbiblical.

I don’t want to be nice to others to avoid going to hell. I want to be nice to others because I genuinely want to be a decent human being.
Yes, I do fear the concepts that the "Liberals" brought up. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to know that all scripture is good for teaching and applying. Who is to say that Paul was not speaking God's word but a well-known prophet like Elijah wasn't. This narrative gives others looking to explore Christianity as a whole further doubt into the validity of the bible. Jesus talked about keeping His children out of the kingdom of heaven, and His punishment for those people is going to be quite unpleasant. See Luke 17:2
@@tpawesomeness2526 being a Christian is an active choice. Being Christian has laws on it. You ever heard of a thing called the 10 Commandments? There is no room for interpretation if God says sin is bad.
@@TheJacobiedwards I was not saying there was no room for interpretation. Rather it is good that we gather together and have meaningful discussions about God's word. Edit: Thank you for all the likes! Also, to anyone who’s had negative experiences with a church, I’m so sorry! There are Christians that genuinely try to unlearn the discrimination we were taught when we were younger and hopefully the younger generations of Christians become more progressive.
I agree. But he also casted out the evil that was within them before allowing them to follow him around. He did party with demons. He accepted them to heal them and love them. He didn’t accept the sin.
@@kiamartin3704 Poverty and being infected with disease aren’t sins though. And the people with disabilities he healed like those who were blind only had to believe he could actually heal them and they would be healed upon touching his robes. In other words, their faith in him was key. There was no “extra step” beyond faith. Also, forgiveness isn’t earned, it’s freely given (though again, poverty and disease aren’t sins themselves, what sin are you referring when you say he didn’t accept the sin?).
@@JJ-fi2no Oh? If you’re not talking about sins then you’re argument about acceptance is not the same. Also having faith in him is the first most important step, but so is listening to his word after that. After you become his child, you will listen to his teaching through the bible.

Progressive Christians accept anything and everything in their church.

That said, shouldn't the threat of hell be eliminated completely then? I mean jesus died in the bible for sins to be forgiven so the entire concept of hell should have been done away with in the new testament and then technically god doesn't believe in punishing the sinners if they're rewarded for JUST believing in him then?
I can’t help but think that’s like, way harsh? But what do I know? I’m a filthy heathen.
But... literally the last chapter of the bible talks about who will make it into heaven and who won't. Revelation 22:14-15 (written after the death of Jesus)

(33) Indeed, Allāh chose Adam and Noah and the family of Abraham and the family of ʿImrān over the worlds(34) Descendants, some of them from others. And Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.
(35) [Mention, O Muḥammad], when the wife of ʿImrān said, "My Lord, indeed I have pledged to You what is in my womb, consecrated [for Your service], so accept this from me. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing."
delivered her, she said, "My Lord, I have delivered a female." And Allāh was most knowing of what she delivered, and the male is not like the female. "And I have named her Mary, and I seek refuge for her in You and [for] her descendants from Satan, the expelled [from the mercy of Allāh]."
accepted her with good acceptance and caused her to grow in a good manner and put her in the care of Zechariah. Every time Zechariah entered upon her in the prayer chamber, he found with her provision. He said, "O Mary, from where is this [coming] to you?" She said, "It is from Allāh. Indeed, Allāh provides for whom He wills without account."
(38) At that, Zechariah called upon his Lord, saying, "My Lord, grant me from Yourself a good offspring. Indeed, You are the Hearer of supplication."
(39) So the angels called him while he was standing in prayer in the chamber, "Indeed, Allāh gives you good tidings of John, confirming a word[123] from Allāh and [who will be] honorable, abstaining [from women], and a prophet from among the righteous.
(40) He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when I have reached old age and my wife is barren?" He [the angel] said, "Such is Allāh; He does what He wills.
(41) He said, "My Lord, make for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not [be able to] speak to the people for three days except by gesture. And remember your Lord much and exalt [Him with praise] in the evening and the morning.
(42) And [mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed Allāh has chosen you and purified you and chosen you above the women of the worlds
(43) O Mary, be devoutly obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow [in prayer]."
(44) That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muḥammad]. And you were not with them when they cast their pens[124] as to which of them should be responsible for Mary. Nor were you with them when they disputed.
(45) [And mention] when the angels said, "O Mary, indeed Allāh gives you good tidings of a word[125] from Him, whose name will be the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary - distinguished in this world and the Hereafter and among those brought near [to Allāh].
(46) He will speak to the people in the cradle and in maturity and will be of the righteous."
(47) She said, "My Lord, how will I have a child when no man has touched me?" [The angel] said, "Such is Allāh; He creates what He wills. When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is.
(48) And He will teach him writing and wisdom[126] and the Torah and the Gospel

And I cure the blind [from birth] and the leper, and I give life to the dead - by permission of Allāh. And I inform you of what you eat and what you store in your houses. Indeed in that is a sign for you, if you are believers.
(50) And [I have come] confirming what was before me of the Torah and to make lawful for you some of what was forbidden to you. And I have come to you with a sign from your Lord, so fear Allāh and obey me.
(51) Indeed, Allāh is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is the straight path.'"
(52) But when Jesus felt [persistence in] disbelief from them, he said, "Who are my supporters for [the cause of] Allāh?" The disciples said, "We are supporters for Allāh. We have believed in Allāh and testify that we are Muslims [submitting to Him].
(53) Our Lord, we have believed in what You revealed and have followed the messenger [i.e., Jesus], so register us among the witnesses [to truth]."
(54) And they [i.e., the disbelievers] planned, but Allāh planned. And Allāh is the best of planners.
Allāh said, "O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify [i.e., free] you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to Allāh alone] superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ.
