Listen to this. It’s a testament to Disney’s impeccable customer service. My parents went to DLand for the day, stopping by the Briar Patch where my mom fell in love with a rustic lamp that had carved bears at the base. On Christmas Eve, my dad showed up at the entry gates asking the cast members if he can go into the park without having to buy a ticket. He explained he only wanted to go to the Briar Patch to purchase the lamp for my mom as a Christmas gift. They were a little surprised by the request at first. My dad said he’ll wait at the gate if a cast member will take his money to buy the lamp for him. Instead, they let him in and accompanied him to the BP. To top it off, there was a small scratch under the base, so they gave it to him for half off. #1 in customer service!!

I remember WAITING for Splash Mountain to be completed. And I don't recall how many hours I waited in line to ride it for the first time. But AS ALWAYS....IT WAS DISNEY MAGIC!!!!!! I am sad that they have to re-theme it. I guess I am too old, and just don't think about things in a certain way. I LOVED waiting in line for it. I don't know how many times I saw people going down the final PLUNGE, and screaming with excitement!!! Made the wait TOTALLY WORTH IT!!!! I MISS OG DISNEYLAND.

And made sure I went on it for the last ride on May 30th 2023! So glad Tokyo Disneyland didn't go woke and is keeping thiers intact! Guess I'll just have to go on it a half dozen times when I go!

Splash Mountain was my first Disneyland attraction I rode as child. Seeing this attraction and now the store going away as an adult brings a lot of tears to my eyes. I will miss hearing those fun tunes and those fun animatronics from America Sings so much. My favorite part of the ride was when Brer Fox was fishing Brer Bear in the water. Splash Mountain's legacy lives on to this day and I can't wait to see what Tiana's Bayou Adventure brings to this generation.

Aloha Amazing Chris Provost..One of my first souvaniers was one of those Davey Crockett hats made with real rabbit fur that I bought there..with my own money! It was the Indian Trading post but they sold Native American crafts and Davy Crockett stuff...muskets, flintlock pistols, bows and arrows, spears( the same ones they sold in Adventerland but different colors...rubber spear heads)
The roof was originally grassm which was historically correct because they did have them
    Thanks Chris

That’s how I remember this store being too. I feel like most of the stores were so much better, when I was growing up. The products in the various stores used to match the theming of the stores. The stores had so much more character then. Nowadays they all basically have the same random Disney merchandise in all of them. I would think that Disney could sell even more souvenirs, if the unique little shops had their own unique (non-Disney) merchandise; like the Davy Crockett, Native American, and Western themed items they used to sell here (or even all of the unique hats they used to sell in the hat shop that was in New Orleans Square). I find that Chris’ video is a very good depiction, of how this little shop no longer has any direction. It’s just full of rando, typical, Disney items that you can already find in many other shops.

Just discovered your videos, and love them! The words of encouragement are sweet. Have you thought about looking at "secrets" of Disney music in the parks? Example: In the Carsland ride waiting area for disabled riders one song that plays is the 1913 hit "He'd Have To Get Under -- Get Out and Get Under To Fix Up His Automobile" One rainy morning as my spouse (who uses a wheelchair) and I waited for the ride, we sang along with the instrumental version that was playing. Great fun! As are your videos!

Watching this made me think about re-theming attractions; the Treehouse was originally themed around Swiss Family Robinson, which I saw in the theaters as a child when it came out, but how many people from the 70's on have seen it? It's not relatable for the great majority of people going to the park. I've always liked it in spite of being afraid of heights, but it doesn't bother me at all to get up to the top level and look out at the park; the theme has changed a couple of times but it's really the same experience in spite of the tweaks.
The same even more so for Splash Mountain being themed around Song of the South- unless you have a bootleg copy of the movie, who's seen it? Br'er Rabbit, who's that?
The Treehouse may be the last of the "walk-through" attractions; Alice in Wonderland was originally going to be a walk-through, and I took the tour through the Nautilus when I was five, but now the walk-through concept seems to have been transferred to the entrance queue for attractions like Indiana Jones, Peter Pan, Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc., giving guests something to keep them occupied while doing the Disneyland Shuffle.

  • @Golfer5824

Closing down Splash Mountain was one of the worst decisions Disney could’ve made. It was the most popular family ride, but because of social justice warriors they bowed to pressure and removed it, replacing it with something that will never be comparable. This is one of the reasons why Disney is not doing well. Others being high prices, excessive deferred maintenance etc. Families are sick of being preached to. My advice? Go to Universal in California or in Florida and wait till next year for Universal’s Epic Universe! Until Disney decides to get back to Walt Disney’s vision of family entertainment, and not be motivated by politics, Universal is the place to go.

Hi Chris, I have a silly question for you. A long time ago, I remember reading about Walt Disney's "secret" hidden office that was located above the fire station just off main street at Disneyland, which remained untouched since his passing 58 years ago. I think someone said it had been removed and or replaced or repurposed something like 20 to 50 years ago. Do you have any information about this? Oh yes, by the way, your duck joke really quacked me up. That duck actually was taking a break from doing his tax return--so far, he's pretty happy, because his return has many de-duck-tions and he's very lucky because he's been able to duck an audit.

I wonder how Walt would feel about the mixing of souvenirs from Galaxy's Edge with those of typical Disneyland (like the socks, the ears, etc.) I get that some stores on Main already do this but the theming of the Briar Patch (and soon to be Tiana's something or other) seems like it should not incorporate Star Wars. Walt wanted each section of the park to be its own experience, uniquely themed.

I don't know if I can call you lucky or deprived because you didn't see Song of the South. Some of the Brer Rabbit clips were featured on Disney television. "Lucky" means you don't miss what you don't know. "Deprived" is due to not experiencing the joy of Brer Rabbit out-foxing Brer Fox.
How long will Tiana's Bayou Adventure last?

Actually if you count 4 lights in each chandelier that would add up to 48 lights
    38 track lights
    9 lamp lights
For a grand total of 95 Lights!!!

What you said is only part of the Song Of The South. There is a little boy and his mom staying somewhere in the south where black people talked "Yessa Sir" and stuff like that. And, I haven't seen it in awhile, but I think the mom doesn't want her son talking to Uncle Remis. He's telling the son and a little girl stories about Brair Rabbit, Brair Bear, and Brair Fox (may have spelled Brair wrong).

Uncle Remus is a likable good guy. The only negative portrayals are bratty white kids.

But thel little boy's mom didn't want him to hear the stories for some reason. Like a kid, he went anyway. But yes bratty white kids too.@@amazingjason455

So in other words the Briar Patch is like an Hawaiian rabbit, "Hare today gone to Maui!" 😂

The Briar Patch store may have been the store I remember being Winnie The Pooh themed. Looks like the same store, but doesn't sound like where I remember seeing it. I probably don't remember. I think it was 1992.

How do you help a rabbit keep her fur out of her eyes? Use hare spray.
