Not to me they kind of stuck through the list through their life so it meant something to them. It doesn't matter if they were children. People make it seem like you have to give stuff up when you grow up and you don't. Your childhood morphs you into the person you'll become when your older. It's that simple.

People grow and change, and sometimes you grow up and, for example, realize you and your friend don’t want to go to the same college anymore. These people are grown adults now, they need to realize that they can’t be children forever and that’s okay.

Completely agree. I don't understand why a lot of movies feature things like couples or best friends that can't manage to live away from each other. I know long distance relays can be quite tough but if you truly love each other ,I'm pretty sure nothing can stop you from breaking up( relationships or friendship). There's also facetime ,why can't they just use that? . It's like they'll die if they don't see each other every 5 seconds. (Its not that hard,coming from someone quite clingy). If my significant other wants to pursue something,I let them and give my fullest support. I can't be there for them physically but they know I'm always rooting . Also, is their relationship really that weak since they can't move far away and still be friends?

HE WAS SO MANIPULATIVE AND SENSITIVE TOO LMAOO, that one scene towards the end where elle was explaining that she wants to do something for herself and no one else and he was like “what so you don’t think I care about your HaPpInEsS or something?” like that’s not what she was saying at all
Lee is probably the worst character in the entire series. He’s so toxic and controlling and throws a tantrum because “wah my brother gets everything he wants and I don’t boohooo” like??? Really? After the first movie, I would of liked to see better character growth but he’s exactly the same throughout the series and it’s just stupid.
The friendship rules seem very one-sided and also just stupid, like seriously rules made when they were kids, hardly stay relevant as they grow older. I would of liked to see them either change/adapt the rules, sit down together and work it out, it would of showed growth and maturity or even better, them agreeing to scrap the rules and just agree to be the best friends they can be to each other and to always have each other’s backs but let go of the silly rigid structure. Half the rules really seemed to serve Lee and favour him over Elle, she seemed to get the short end of the stick in pretty much every situation.
Lee gets mad when Elle hangs out with Noah but he goes and hangs out with Rachel and lies to Elle about it, and then Rachel tries to communicate that she wants more one-on-one time with Lee and instead of just going to Elle and talking to her about it and working it out, he just decides to lie and fakes an injury instead to give himself an excuse. Like what? I know it’s a drama movie so they need conflict but it’s just ridiculous and annoying to watch. He could of literally just told her and worked out a way to spend his time equally, it’s not that hard.
But honestly Elle’s character wasn’t great either, she annoyed me. She constantly lied, hid things instead of communicating and just putting her foot down and not apologising for doing what she wants. If she had of been honest from the start it would of saved drama. She does it at the end of the first movie and it’s good, but then the next two movies she seems to revert back to her old ways and let’s everyone push her around. Just feels like a step backwards.
She liked Noah and wanted to be with him, she should of just gone to Lee and told him that and told him to suck it. If he’s her best friend, sure he’d sulk a bit but eventually he’d get over it and realise that it’s her life and it’s not his business who she dates. Which is what happens anyway but it would of been nicer to see some maturity and communication.
And this is more of a writing thing but I hate the overdone “I’m not like other girls” trope in every movie and the “the popular girls are all girly and like makeup and fashion so they must automatically be bitchy and mean, but I’m cool because I don’t care about that and I like sports and I play video games hehe I’m so quirky” it’s so boring! And it’s so stupid and it just makes the characters so one-dimensional. The writers are going for relatable but they end up doing the opposite in my opinion.
Like why is girls playing video games a big deal? Why do movies keep pushing in our faces that if you play video games as a girl you must be super different, and all the guys automatically love you because of it. It doesn’t even make sense. Like just normalise gaming for all people regardless of what sex they happen to be, it’s not even a big deal.

Same on all that you wrote, you would say that every character could have grown and be more mature after the first movie, but the writers chose to do the same problem over and over in the other movies: Elle tries to chose something for herself, immature and selfish Lee gets annoyed and blames Elle for “ruining” his life, and Noah just exists lol
Also I think Lee’s the one that always brings the stupid rules and mostly on his favor and it’s so hypocrite, like he was mad and throw a tantrum when found out that Elle and his brother were dating or that Elle could go to another college, but it was ok with him lying to Rachel and Elle like ????

@@nupurdakwale9030 I read the first two chapters on Wattpad because I was curious how the writing would be on a book like that and it was surprisingly pretty grounded (not a fanfic, original work). Don't get me wrong, Elle did have the not like other girls vibe but it was not nearly as strong as in the movie, like actually passable as a real girl's insecurity. It was completely tolerable and definitely didn't feel as cliched as after's first chapter. I've seen way worse stuff on Wattpad.

Apparently, that's the logic of this movie. Everyone, with the possible exceptions of Chloe, Rachel and Linda, Elle's dad's girlfriend, act more like grown toddlers than actual people.

Also as much as I don’t like Elle, Lee is just as bad-if not *worse* oml. He is so devoted to that stupid list of rules they created when they were younger. I was pretty happy when Elle told him off for being so immature and needing to grow up and look past the stupid rules. Also, marco and the other girls appearances in the movie were so unnecessary and boring to the plot. I honestly half watched this as background noise. You only needed to watch like parts of the movie to fully predict the ending.
Was anyone else super happy when her dad told her off? For once a character sees how annoyingly selfish she was being

But if he read the material he would've seen the potential for many sequels from this chaotic wattPad comedy, so IF Euphoria didn't launch him as a more serious actor he probably still would be stuck in the Netflix comedy circus like Noah Centineo... I doubt these movies couldve propelled him into serious acting. I just don't see any way he could've gained a little fame from the Kissing Booth and then moved on to greater things, unless he only signed on for one movie... If you willingly sign up for three+ Netflix movies you're already in a tight spot...

Annoying best friend is best man but also party planner.
Elle runs into Marco at her bachelorette party. He is now an exotic dancer, his music career failing miserably.
She does a platonic shot from his belly button causes the movie's main conflict. Again.
Cue Kissing Booth 5 when Marco moves next door.
Then she has an affair with marco and they run away together and die.
Kissing booth 6: Elle finds out Marcos grave is being placed next to hers and-

The only person in the main 3 who made any sensible decision in this movie is literally Noah when he broke up with Elle.
I honestly appreciated that decision as having a couple teenagers get together and stay together forever isn't the most realistic. Sure, it does happen sometimes. Even if they do end up back together afterwards I can still appreciate them having them spend a few years growing up and figuring themselves out first.

He went from being a toxic and angry boy to a Harvard man (how he got into Harvard idek) who doesn't hit Marco despite him being attacked first. Elle and Lee legit have this moment of growth in every movie where they realize their rules are toxic yet still repeat the same conflict.
Fun fact: they shot 2 & 3 at the SAME TIME due to pandemic delay. Probably explains why they felt like adding Marco and Chloe back to the plot in 3.

apparently Elle's actress said in an interview that "Elle should have chosen Marco" but honestly, the better thing to say would have been that Marco should have ran away from Elle the moment he got the chance. She's literally so overdramatic and always plays the victim.
Yeah, Marco could’ve done better and I’m just glad he left for New York. Now he can move on and get in a relationship that’s not as toxic as what he could’ve had with Elle. Elle should’ve stayed single, as well as Noah.

I’m surprised you didn’t mention the scene where Lee drives off to Berkeley, leaving Elle behind, and three girls and three boys randomly appear behind them to dramatically represent all the years they spent together. It was a very cheesy, way over-the-top dramatic scene that was very awkward to watch.

To be honest, Elle had two guys - who were quote on quote "the most hottest guys in the school" - trying to fight over her. As good as it was for her to just dump them both and become some sort of pixie gamer girl. She COULD'VE just picked Marco or something.
I feel like this movie kind of tells us that if we were to have a internet relationship with somebody, it wouldn't work out. And unless we actually loved somebody so badly that we wouldn't let dumb things break us apart, then love is kind of useless to us and we should just become gamers or something and "give up on ever finding a soulmate".
What annoyed me the most about the thrid part was that they wanted the viewer to kind of connect and feel sentimental about a beach house we haven't seen once in any of the movies with all those memories from Elle and Lee at this place and whatever but like, I haven't seen this house once, it's not like I connect to that place like idk, the cast from One Tree Hill coming back to the river court one last time.

Elle's decision to study videogame design reminded me of when Bella Swan announced she was going to study marine biology after high school, in booth instances the awkwardness is because their interest on those things is never properly established (in the movies, at least, maybe in the Twilight books there's countless paragraphs of Bella resting her head on Edward's lap while talking about how mysterious and fascinating the deep sea is)
To be fair, Elle’s love of DDR is established very early on in the first movie and was a major plot point of the second one... though that’s like 1 game and I agree they should have established her interest in video games more.
Makes me think of how Jotaro Jostar from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure gets his PhD in... marine biology, actually... very suddenly, at the very end of the fourth season.

You can tell throughout the whole movie how FED UP Jacob Elordi is, it is kind of amusing. And there’s no chemistry at all between him and Joey in the last 2 movies! It be a much better ending in they both had moved on with other people. Like Elle with Marco and Noah with someone he met at college. Loved the FF9 song in the end though 😉
