I got 2nd hand embarrassment every 7 seconds (I am not even joking like I actually did)

It has a less than 5% acceptance rate. They make you write admission essays explaining all your extracurricular activities and accomplishments, which these characters have none of. They never do school work and all they do is hang out with each other and fuck.

a lot of movies kinda do that. sorta downplay how hard getting into those schools are. and i can't help but think it's just so kids will waste their money applying to them. because apparently in america you gotta pay a lot just to apply to a school you might not even get accepted into
Ray Vun It’s the same in Canada too. I applied to three colleges and had to pay for all of the them. I think it was $90 per application. I got into all three of them but obviously only went to one lol and you don’t get money back if you don’t accept.

The most bizzare thing is how Netflix managed to make this move 2 hours long. This movie shouldn't even exist in the first place.
Gosh Elle’s toxic and manipulative personality goes so unnoticed in this movie. People give Noah crap and, while he definitely acts sus, there’s also plenty of reasons showing that he’s not cheating. And then Elle takes this suspicion as a justification to chest on Noah and kiss Marco.
There’s literally no good guy in here, they’re all manipulative. Marco is the best character but even then, he’s boring and shouldn’t have kissed Elle either knowing she had a boyfriend.

To be completely honest. Having Noah cheat on Elle would have been a much better plot point. Even if it was just a kiss like with Marco. And would have made for a much better story arc. They were both able to overcome their jealousy and be better for it.

I'm extremely glad that I didn't have this movie as a kid because I would have 100% been sucked into this idea of "be alluring to any guy" and "many men aren't faithful so always be on your toes as to who they are talking to."

One, elle wanted all the money even when she was with her best-friend; two, Marco only really starts to like her when spending time with her after agreeing to do it, who's going to give up that much money for someone they've known a couple of days; and three, it doesn't really matter whether he wanted it or not, it's selfish of elle to only be considering herself throughout the entire movie.

Take Elle. What makes Elle so special? Nothing. She hasn't got any real personality but amazing things just happen to her. Men trip over their feet for her. She's not particularly beautiful or smart. She's also never exposed to any real consequences for her actions, everything just ends up fairy tale happy. She's a tool for teenage girls to project themselves onto so they can live vicariously through her.
Like the movie is horrible. So unlikable. She gets no consequences.

At the risk of sounding like someone who's actually invested in these kinds of movies, Elle should have ended up with Marco. Not only did she have better chemistry with him, and more in common, but it would have broken the old cliche. The sequels to these movies are always this same plot. Girl and guy who got together in first film go through a rough patch, new guy catches girl's eye, she thinks about pursuing the new guy, but ultimately goes back to the first guy. They could have broken that trend, but no, they had to drive on through the old cliche. I guess that's all these films are. The same basic and cliche story with a new window dressing.
