I haven't seen the movie but to be fair it did look like it kind of disrupted the learning environment so I'm sure they would've found a way to still punish her. Like how kids can be punished in school for cyberbullying. There's a fine line somewhere

Yes, because when you have a principal that oversteps her authority and threatens to expel someone because they have a radio show she doesn't like for one reason or another, and in an escalation of her power trip she threatens to punish the entire school over a single student's actions OUTSIDE of school, then of course the reasonable reaction kids would have is TURN AGAINST THE RADIO BROADCASTER THEY ALL LOVE... Because how dare she not want to get expelled, and how dare she somehow make the principal make some ridiculous decision like that, right?
This is why I have such a hard time watching Disney movies, the extreme full good or full evil caricatures without and gray area just get on my nerves as much as how dumb the majority of the characters in said movies are.

It's established she actively avoids talking to people outside her friend group. A bit odd that her friends wouldn't notice, but for everyone else it makes perfect sense.
If you just passively heard someone talking a few times in the hall, would you have enough of a grip on their voice (assuming there was nothing unique about it) to identify it elsewhere? This isn't exactly Lois Lane working 9-5 at the desk next to Clark Kent, or Hannah being socialite who everyone speaks with.
Honestly, I'm just happy her step-dad wasn't portrayed as mean, evil or manipulative in anyway.
agreed. it was nice to see stepparents being portrayed as decent human beings for a change, because they do exist. same goes for Dog with a Blog with their blended family.
I thought that was the best part of the movie, tbh. Like the dadin Freaky Friday. It's so nice to see a supportive set parent.

Even though this movie makes me cringe into new dimensions, what I like about it is that Gavin literally looks like a high schooler and is not the usual teen toxic love interest. Like Alex said, mans just wants to play guitar and live life

hats were banned at my school so it was always so weird to me when i'd watch something and everyone had hats. why did our schools hate hats so much?? i don't remember a reason why, just that hats were FORBIDDEN.

I'm pretty sure the rule was originally meant to keep people from blocking the view of the person sitting behind them, but they pretty much instantly forgot about that and went after like, beanies and other stuff that doesn't actually affect anyone
@@cam4636 the school I work at allows hats but not hoods. Hoods block kids faces too much on the cameras, since they cover the whole head and sides of the face. Hats used to be banned for the same reason but they decided they can still see enough of the face/hair to identify kids if needed
Anti social behaviour is their motto for y hats and hoods up ain't allowed?
In my school they claimed it was because it was a distraction, but I've literally never met anyone so enthralled by a hat that they were completely distracted from learning. Same with seeing someone who has blue hair because colorful hair was also "a distraction". It's like they think we all live in caves and don't know what anime is.
I love how PrOm is made out to be this big thing that involve the entire school, but it’s really only for the seniors. So the principal’s threat of taking away the prom really only affects 25% of the school. And idk if this holds true for everybody, but we didn’t have prom royalty.

Anyone else distracted by the fact that Stacey faced zero consequences from the school for locking Terra in a closet specifically so that she would fail an assignment? In my school, where you could get expelled for “fighting” because someone else beat you up, that would warrant at least an investigation and a few weeks’ suspension. Pretty Boy himself said that a member of the staff is a witness. Was this just an effort to make the principal more cartoonishly evil?

I never got the plotpoint trend of "This person needs to reveal themselves and basically be expelled, or arrested, or killed, or everyone suffers". And then everyone gets mad that the person who has no real reason to reveal themselves because of horrible backlash. Instead of getting mad at the one whos punishing literally every single person for absolutely no reason, they get mad at the person who wont willingly get expelled, locked up, or die. "IF YOU CARED ABOUT US YOU'D RUIN YOUR LIFE" . no, uh. thats not how it works. Doessn't really quite work in this movie though when her backup is literally being a successful official radio host.

When Gavin confronted Stacy about locking Tara in the storage closet Stacy went to tell Gavin that Tara is radio rebel as if that would all of a sudden make him think negatively about her. If anything he would end up liking her more because then he would know that his crush is also famous.

Yeah that doesn't really make sense to me because Tara clearly said she was radio rebel. Saying you're radio rebel doesn't really confuse her because I'm sure she did an entire speech about being radio rebel (idk I never watched the movie). It was kind of a stupid way to end it.

I always tend to remember Gavins actor as Todd (which is just another role he played, and I should have learnt his name by now)… but some of his later work is actually quite fun. I like him being in this one

He just reinvented himself after highschool and went from being popular to being a magician who no one likes for practically existing.
No chance a principal would be allowed to cancel prom on account of some radio host not exposing herself. If the kids were really that upset then the amount of pressure from complaints by parents would almost immediately reverse this decision.

My high school cancelled prom both my junior and senior year due to lack of interest. I don't know how many tickets were sold during my junior year but my senior year they only sold 30 tickets. I wasn't planning on going anyway but it was kind of amusing.
Considering the tickets are 150 at my school…yeah
You know, "Prom" is actually just a traditional coming-of-age ball (it's short for "Promenade"). It doesn't have to be tied to your school. You can host it yourself, or go to one sponsored by a local business or something. It's usually still called a "prom" regardless (the rare exception is "debutante ball").
