Something that sounds strange, but that I love is that the main characters in this movie are full grown adults with jobs and a kid, not some teenager that's too young for whoever they're dating. It's so rare to see older people FALLING in love in movies like this
To quote their username “who knows atp”

Mm just watch hallmark
Yes Disney Adults falling in love makes sense with nowadays, with everyone falling in love less
@@sanayatarver7353 oh please no 😫
The actress for giselle is just so so good at her job. The random times when she slightly becomes less childish and the change in mood when she's with Edward. Like it's so amazing man
Yeah I know
Additional fun fact, Nancy is played by Idina Menzel, who voiced Elsa in frozen, so we’ve got two princess voice actresses in this movie.
Thank you! I was looking and looking through the comments to see if this was mentioned.
Idina Menzel was also Maureen from Rent and Elphaba from Wicked
I was literally about to comment this!
Elsa isn't a princess, she's a queen.
@@Souchi-ito for part of the first movie she was a princess along with during flashbacks in the second film
Nancy is underrated. She is not the jaded one. She loved romance and remained hopeful despite Robert being kinda lackluster as a person and then she gets the romance she's always wanted at the end. Honestly, the dream.
I adore nacy, dude. I love how they broke the stereotypical bitchy ex trope too

AND there was a cut scene, I'm pretty sure, that showed just how much she loved the cheesy romance that she got in the end!
Enchanted was one of the most self aware movies of its time. It really celebrated Disney’s past while also showcasing its legacy to a new generation.
Something that all the new live action remakes tried to do and miserably failed.

Exactly!
understandable, but counter-argument, a huge number of movies and tv shows were self-aware in the mid 2000s
This is major facts
@@MbitaChizi i love that video I like the music ^^
I think something that is scarily overlooked is that She refers to the short guy as “Grumpy” so she knows OR at least is aware of the Story of Snow White…
When in the end of the movie the queen hag extends the apple out to her and say “all this pain will go away with one bite”
Giselle should know of Poison Apples especially since she is aware of Snow White, so she fully and willingly took the Poisoned Apple. I feel this was completely dark because she was willing to un-alive herself because the thought of not being with Robert was tragically heartbreaking.
Maybe she knew the dwarfs before they met snow white 😜
wow this is really deep
Unalive herself?! What is this double speak?
There’s also a line where Robert makes a joke about poisoned apples and she laughs like she gets the joke
At a time when Disney is desperately trying to mine audiences for nostalgia, this movie shows how to do it successfully. It uses all the classic tropes of age-old animated classics, but the movie has a heart of its own and that shines through so much...
you should also do Stardust, man. That movie is weird as hell, but SO GOOD.

Yeah, I thought that was a weird statement. I see conversations about this movie all the time.
The fact that Giselle(who had never used a shower before) was able to figure out Robert's shower in record time when it takes me a solid 20 minutes to work any shower that isn't my own, is the most unbelievable part of the whole movie.

Okay but did anyone else fall in love with Edward? He's honestly an icon, and one of my favorite Disney princes after Naveen & Flynn. James Marsden was so cute in that role.
Edit: Plus, the songs and animation being so well-done & made with care ("True Love's Kiss" and "How Do You Know" are still bangers) just shows how much Disney fell off on both aspects. This is so visible in the sequel, where I can't remember one song & the animation was ugly and lazy.
Edward maried nancy in the animation disney version
"How Does She Know" is without a doubt one of the best Disney movie songs EVER
@@cheskatwixtor Cheap? Rushed? Are you serious? This is really showing you don't know anything about animation. It's so fluid and smooth, how could you say it looks cheap? It looks better than the sequel of The Little Mermaid!
Enchanted is just one of the most underrated Disney movies ever! I absolutely love it and am sad that it got forgotten by so many people! Glad it got a sequal, but wish the sequal wasn't just on Disney Plus. Really wanted to add it to my DVD collection.
You bring up a good point. Will any of the Disney+ productions end up on DVD/Blu-ray? I know Netflix had box sets of Stranger Things, but I can't think of another show they made physical media for.
Let's be straight up - Enchanted is one of the best Disney movie ever. Absolutely no joke. A movie ahead of it's time.
Can't agree more. ❤️
remember when Frozen was like "look at how modern we are for criticizing how romance works in fairytales"?
All I could think was "Enchanted existed long before you and did it better".
Ayeeee this movie is one of those things it should've turned into a cult classic.
Agree!!
Plus the jokes and deepre meaning and such
Also!! I love how they didn't villainise Nancy! Movies, especially the 2000's ones, do it so often. Just make the rival girl a total bitch and practically a villain. Nancy, on the other hand, was just a normal woman who wanted her romance and love and gracefully let go of Robert when she realised they weren't meant for each other. AND they gave her her happily ever after, too! Almost unheard of in 2000's movies and honestly, in movies today, too.
yeah because Giselle was absolutely 'the other girl' who took away her man. had Nancy been the main character then clearly Giselle would have been the antagonist. so I'm really glad they didn't go down this route and I was so glad she found happiness as well.
@@benzaiten933 But Giselle is not to blame. If someone is cheating it's the person who's cheating's fault first and foremost, and then depending on the context, then the 'other girl'
Yeah Nancy is actually a cool character and they make it clear she just isn't right for Robert
Yeah I love that they did that
@@maapauu4282 if the other person knows that the person they’re dating is in a relationship they are participating and complicit in cheating on their partners significant or girlfriend/boyfriend.
I love how the animals, that help Giselle, are the only ones you usually find in NYC. I do enjoy that Giselle became a hero for her man.
Loved the dance scene as a kid. Now as an adult English Major I adore it. Espically when Robert is shown in like a prince outfit and Giselle is this modern girl. It really drives home how much they influenced each other's world.
Something I actually like when they’re trying wake Giselle up, is when Edward tries and fails, he goes over to Robert and he’s like “please kiss the woman I love,” and he’s not like “she loves me and only me.” He just wants to wake up Giselle because he cares, and he accepts that she loves someone else. That’s what I like about Edward.
edit: uh wow, thanks everyone for the replies and the likes. i usually comment something and it never gets this much attention. anyway, thank you again! ❤❤
SAME. This is truly love
❤
Yes, totally love this scene and him fo that❣️
Yes and the fact is that Robert wants to because he cares too, but doesn’t want to upset his gf is great
And Nancy saying "Just KISS HER, Robert!" Because contrary to the fairy tale trope, she was NOT an evil stepmother in the making, she was just a busy woman who secretly wanted a happy ever after for herself, but not at the cost of someone's life. (and also she was already kind of digging the dumb hot prince)
Having a animated Disney princess come into the real world and first tackle the concept of dating in these type of movies was lowkey groundbreaking. It wasn't true love, it was learning to love by getting to know someone. They did it before frozen made it cool lol
my guy did you forget the princess and the frog
Wasn’t Enchanted before Princess and the Frog?
@@josi0.062 It was
And if you ask me, Enchanted honestly did it better than Frozen.
@@josi0.062 yes, but Princess and the Frog was before Frozen. Ppl tend to skip over how groundbreaking that was and skip straight to Frozen.

idk why it took me till the second movie to realise nancy’s actor is also the voice actor of elsa from frozen. The moment she started singing and hitting those notes it literally hit me
One thing I really loved about Enchanted was how it had all of the common Disney fairy princess movie tropes like the extremely over the top hag, poisonous fruit, giant dragon boss fight on a really tall place in the rain, singing animals coming out of absolutely no where, but it handled it in such a way where it’s able to have it’s own identity and isn’t constantly in your face with it’s parody esc. narrative elements

@@MbitaChizi Okeh, I don't plan on it

Yes! It’s honestly the perfect parody because it pokes fun at all those tropes without being obnoxious and cynical. It acknowledges the good and the bad of old school Disney storytelling and I will always adore it for that.
Don’t hate me but that’s exactly why I don’t care for this movie. Even back then, I thought it took too much from other movies and imo made it obnoxious and not original feeling 🤷♀️
Can we just give respect to Amy Adams. She had the mannerisms nailed down. How she moved, walk, her gestures and expression were just prefect.
Enough said.
It's incredible for her to go from this to Lois Lane
@@bemasaberwyn55 and then to Arrival and Nocturnal Animals. She is one of the best actors/actresses in Hollywood today.

11:49 I like how you can hear Jodi Benson's Ariel voice pop out for a little bit despite her being sarcastic lol 😂😂
Enchanted is like a ton of disney princess fairy tales all mixed into one with its own stuff too and it's amazing!
Thing is. Nancy always was a romantic at heart. She clearly loves the flowers and birds Robert sends her, and wants a bit of that fairytale magic in her life. But she’s stuck in the real world. Where fairytales aren’t reality and happy endings are a dream. You can see flashes of it all throughout the movie. In the end Nancy and Edward are a better match than Nancy and Robert. Hell she even remarks upon Edward’s romantic nature the very first time they meet. I love how they took the time to develop this part of Nancy’s character. It makes her happy ending with Edward at the end make sense. It makes you genuinely happy for them to be together rather than just having this unsatisfying feeling that they are settling because their real loves got together with each other.
But Giselle also looks for that romantic part which as you said Robert doesn't really have so it's interesting how they made it work out
THIS! I loved that the writers scattered hints of characterization for the supporting cast (Nancy and Nathaniel, they could’ve done more with Edward maybe) which elevated the quality of the story 😊 I really appreciated those details
@@naivelopez3601 No actually if you look at how Giselle changes throughout the movie you can see that she enjoys experiencing the things she hasnt been able to before. When she gets angry for the first time she laughs because she can finally express her whole self. Beneath that veneer of cartoon innosence she is actually extreemly practical and down to earth.
THIS! It's more than just her falling for the "hot dumb himbo" (though granted he is absolutely hot lol), she found someone who loved the idea of fantasy romance and happily ever after just as much as she does! And its not like their attraction only popped up in the end credits - there's small passing remarks too! idk I just always loved that Nancy found happiness too
And now they are going to crete the sequal. It was a fun light hearted movie when it came out. I hope the new one won't get ruin by WOKE identify politics also. Is this movie from Disney?

I can assure you this movie wasn't "your childhood." You probably watched it a couple times AT MOST as a kid because you're braindead and don't know better and now you want to seem quirky and different when your older.
You know it’s interesting that the true loves kiss thing came from Snow White but in earlier versions of the story, like the one I grew up on, the prince actually just dislodges the poisoned apple from her throat and that’s what saves her.

What I never got was this. If Giselle was now in love with Robert and didn't want to marry Edward anymore, doesn't that solve the queen's problems?
Exactly. That’s always confused me.
I'm so late! I don't think so. I feel like once Edward is married, he's eligible to take his father's throne -- as Narcissa is widowed to the rightful King. He's now married to Nancy, which places him in the status to rule. I found that it didn't make sense, because he's the Prince by blood, he should've been able to rule without a bride, so... It's more confusing the more I explain, but... That's Disney for you 🤭
Just watched this movie, and it is one of the best things Disney has and will ever make. Incredibly self aware. Healthy relationships. Funny. Likable characters. Character growth. NOT preachy. NOT hateful or mean spirited, towards ANYONE. Perfect. Even the villains are nice. It's not just a romantic movie, it's also a story about personal growth.
One thing I really love about the movie is that the statue that Giselle makes at the beginning is wearing the suit Robert wears at the ball
I never noticed that! And I've seen the movie about 50 million times 🤣
EXCUSE ME, I never noticed that!!!
13 years and I never noticed 😂
Dear goodness, I didn't think it was possible to make this movie any better. That statues suit has always itched my brain and now I know why.
Even the dream Giselle was having was foreshadowing that last ball scene. "We were holding hands and dancing"
The 2d animation was stunning, I wish they made more movies like the Disney Renaissance in that way.
Not gonna lie, I almost wish it stayed 2D for a little longer!
I've noticed now that the animation looks like Dreamworks 2d animation. Found out that a dreamworks illustrator worked on the movie.
I remember LOVING Enchanted as a teen! This time around on my rewatch (after Disenchanted came out and felt like a bit of a disappointment tbh), even though I still liked it a lot, I had to realize I'm definitely nearing my 30's, cause Giselle looks SO OUT of it and stoned for so much of the movie, anybody sensible would've realistically brought her to the nearest hospital 😅 I was also EXTREMELY bothered by the fact that the water in that shower was kept running (yikes! Mom's scolding finally paying off!😬) during that bathroom scene!
The singing cockroaches are still as hilarious (and disgusting) as I remembered 'em!🤣 Still can't believe how much time has already passed! Feels like only a few years ago since it came out! 😱
I am absolutely convinced that Giselle and Edward have magic powers. You cannot convince me Giselle didn’t (unintentionally) put everyone into a trance for How Does She Know!!
When I watched the deleted scenes of this movie it really made me understand Nancy and Robert better. Nancy has her own scene talking to a friend about her relationship. Her friend calls her "a hopeless romantic" in a world where "romance is hopeless" which makes way more sense why Nancy would be down for the literal fairy tale romance that happens at the end.
Yeah, they really didn't do anything with Nancy other than being "Roberts Love interest". She had like no character plot.
@@FizzJB And she was freaking Idina Menzel, in essentially a musical movie. I'm glad she's more prevalent in the second movie's plot so I can't wait to see it
yeah.
She's kinda hinted as to being interested a more whimsical relationship, when Robert (or I think really Giselle lol) sends her flowers, she has a line like "wow, you never do anything spontaneous like this!". But that's as far as it goes, that deleted scene def would've helped to emphasize Nancy's role.
I think the funniest oversight of the core plot is that the evil queen is probably the only one who actually wants to do the executive power stuff she's trying to hold onto. Okay let's say Edward and Giselle had gotten married and inherited the throne. They both probably wouldn't notice, care, or in any way be suspicious if the evil queen just kept ruling from behind the scenes, as Yzma attempts to do in Emperor's New Groove.
Maybe normal Man love interest can apoint someone like a Democratic republic hehe

That ball scene just makes me tear up every. single. time. since I first watched it as a 9 year old. Furthermore, I love the fact that everyone is dressed up as aristocrats from another time, except for Giselle who's wearing a contemporary dress and let her hair down, because that's her way of "dressing up" and, most importantly, it proves her inclination for this world and her withdrawal from Andalasia, because she doesn't match Prince Edward anymore, she wants to match Robert ! So clever.
Yeah and Nancy's is more fairytale-isk, even if it's not so weird in this ball
i agree 100% the ball scene hits different as an adult too. the song "so close" gives me chills
As well as the fact that the way Robert is dressed for the ball is exactly the way she dressed her "prince charming" manikin at the beginning of the film!

One thing I love about Enchanted is that it makes fun of the fairy tale tropes but also fully embraces them. Like the writers knew the logic is silly but love it anyway. It feels like it's embracing the "cringe culture is dead" that's going strong now, except it came out in 2007.
Comparing to when Frozen made fun of the "love at first sight and married right away" trope, it just felt mean. Like a jab. Making fun of everyone who dared like the movies _Disney themselves made_ . In Enchanted, they also make fun of it but in a friendly, loving way. Like "yeah, it's dumb but this is fantasy so whatever!"
THIS. I love this movie, es so smooth
Precisely why I like Enchanted much better than Frozen! Also it's funny how Idina Menzel was in both
The thing I always appreciated about this movie is (apart from the queen, obviously), nobody's the bad guy. Usually in this sort of romcom, the fiance is a terrible person that for some reason the romantic lead can't see, but here, neither "existing" romantic interest is a bad person, they just aren't the *right* person.
TRUE
Yeah! You think that Nancy would be but she's really not
I honestly think the part where Giselle is talking to the soon-to-be-divorced couple is very sweet. And what's so bad about one girl admiring another girl's hair??
🙋🏾♀️ Loctician here! I feel like it's more about him not wanting to tap into what could lead to a heated discussion about black women's discomfort in other people going into their personal space. In my years of cosmetology, black women view their hair as an extension of their autonomy and spiritual connection to the world, and not just aesthetic expression. Having a stranger touch you without consent -- especially without knowledge of where their hands have been -- can feel very strange and a violation of their bubble. I understand that it can be fascinating and beautiful (trust, even I still love to touch a person's hair, if it's pretty) but we have to be kind and understanding that not everyone is okay with it. I hope that helps
@@OyayoTheStorm Ah yes, makes sense! I do have to say though, as someone who loves hair of all kinds, I think there's a little bit of a stigma related to white people liking the hair styles that black people, whether men or women, wear, because it's assumed to be just based on race. Hair is gorgeous and should be taken care of no matter your background, and having someone appreciate your hair that could literally take hours to do, can be very rewarding. Of course, no touching ANY ONE'S hair without consent. That is too much lol
That's valid, Love; and I agree. Partially, it's why I ended the comment with "anyone", and not just isolate it to black women, and made the statement that I Love touching people's hair, as well! Shoot, I have clients of All hair types, so I tend to even do their hair in my head. Still... It's a history thing, and with the generational trauma that's rooted in one's DNA, as it pertains to being treated like an exhibit, but also ridiculed in the next breath for that very thing, it just becomes sacred, but I do understand that hair can be really universally fun and extra! And you just wanna look with your hands! I Do appreciate you understanding the importance of consent, and how precious that can be to all races, and I also do respect that not all non-blacks want to stick their hands in folk's heads 🤭🤭🤭

I love this song! Still gives me chills thinking about the work they put into creating such a magical scene. But Robert's little jazz hands and forced fake smile kill me every time.
Something I really like about the ballroom scene that I noticed but didn't fully understand as a kid is how Gizelle, who is the definition of a fairytale princess that wears puffy and big dresses that are over the top, is instead dressed in a very slim, modern, and understated dress. Meanwhile Robert who is very much NOT a fairytale guy and is overall a realist and dresses simply, it now decked out inmuch more elegant and fairytale-escue attire. Idk, I just like on how they are dressed completely opposite to their personalities and I've always wondered if that was done on purpose.
the director confirmed that this was done on purpose!! if you also notice giselle's dresses slowly go from 'outward' (you get what i mean?) and elegant, more fairytale dresses to that modern purple dress (which symbolises her character arc throughout the movie!)
Yeah it's like Grease when the main characters change their style to match the other's style.
I remember seeing one comment on the "So Close" music video scene (the video got deleted though,) and the comment went like, "Giselle wanted to be real and Robert wanted a fairytale of his own" which explains the style swaps.
Yeah, I honestly don't think Giselles ball attire really suits her considering how she wears such over-the-top puffy dresses throughout the rest of the movie (which look amazing on her). I guess it's because they needed to show a difference between her normal attire and her dress in this scene, but still, it doesn't suit her.
I LOVE THIS
This was actually one of the last Disney films to include 2D ( right before Princess and the Frog and Winnie the Pooh capped of the medium in Disney films )
Going back and revisiting this now just makes disenchanted all the more painful
This film was honestly a masterpiece. Prince Edward is my favourite Disney price, hes just so brutally honest and crazy I can't help but smile whenever he is on screen
Helps that he’s hella handsome
@@lilacfunk James marsden in this and hairspray was my childhood crush fr
I always felt this movie didn’t get enough love. It’s just so perfect in so many ways as both a true Disney movie and a parody of a Disney movie at the same time. I hope they nail it on the sequel.
They did not, in my opinion. Played it too straight as a musical fairy tale, less of a heartwarming parody. But alas, it's harmless in the end.
I have bad news for you....
@@spaghetto9836the sequel is fine honestly
The sequel is still enjoyable though
I love Alex's videos! I learn something new about films every time
"He knows this song too???"
"I've never heard this song."
"What, are you crazy??? Their birds, they don't know where she lives!!!
"I got your flowers, that was so sweet."
"...Your welcome."
I loved this movie as a kid, and I still enjoy it now. It was genuinely good in nearly every regard, not just for the time, but in ways that are sorely lacking in so much of today's content.
Definitely not underrated or forgotten. There's a large fan group for it. Its a spectacular movie. Seen it various times throughout the years. I was so excited when they announced a second one... and it actually looks really interesting, grander and magical.
I was so mad when I could find it on Disney+(when that first came out)!
*couldn't
Indeed. I never watched and yet I read about it all the time in internet. People love it
I hope it doesn't turn out like Hocus Pocus 2
@@naivelopez3601 it’s actually better than Hocus Pocus 2 in my opinion.
My favourite line from the queen is "Alright, I'm flexible" because Robert really thought what he said would deter her from fighting him to get to Gisele 😂😂 she's such an icon for that.
Yesss 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I loved IT and laughed so hard the first time 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Loved all these takes haha
I love these videos also the song from Enchanted "That's How You Know" is very underrated
17:08 There was a deleted scene from the movie where they talk about Nancy being "a hopeless romantic discovering that romance is hopeless", and I really wish they had kept that scene in because it really shows why Nancy runs off with Edward in the end and that she is happier with him than she would be with Robert. That fairytale romance is exactly what Nancy wants, and she won't get it with Robert. And while Giselle wanted it in the beginning, she finds that she doesn't anymore by the end of the film, meaning that she would not be happy with Edward anymore, but would be happy with Robert. Making everything a win win when the couples change at the end.
There are little hints of this that are still in the movie, and I understand why they cut the scene (it would have messed with the flow of the movie overall), but I feel like Nancy ending up with Edward is really confusing otherwise because the remaining little hints are hard to pick up on.
I saw that without the deleted scene. I also watched this when in my twenties so....... Or it could be I saw myself in Nancy. Not sure which one. But I agree. I am glad that they both won in the end.
I thought it was pretty obvious, even without the scene they cut out :)
@@2Ten1Ryu I love this movie!
They didn’t need that scene for it to be blatantly obvious though. I got it as a 14 year old. Just the way she reacts to getting flowers, and Edward’s unashamed use of the phrase “live of my life”, makes you see that these are things she wants. The scene with the shoe at the end too. Nancy alway was a hopeless romantic.
My favorite part of this movie is that you think it’s going to fall into all these tropes, but it subverts your expectations
Dear RUclips Algorithm, Alex is awesome. I love his videos they're funny, relatable, informative and the animation slaps. Please put his videos through your backwards system. Thank you- a fan of Alex Meyers. ❤
i rewatched Enchanted before watching your video and now I'm on my way to watch the sequel after this.
One thing that I only realized during my last rewatch of this masterpiece is that the step mother really just did _not_ have to kill Giselle. I mean the whole thing is that if Edward gets married that would somehow dethrone her so for his whole life she's just tried to keep Edward away from all young maidens, not that she totally could've killed him at any point to just avoid it ever becoming an issue but she never did.
Anyway as we all know Giselle is an issue she gets sent to our world, Edward goes after her and Nathaniel jumps in to try and poison Giselle, but that's when the whole thing goes sideways. Because the queen _obviously_ notices that Giselle is starting to fall for Robert. It would be so much smarter AND easier for her to stop trying to kill Giselle and instead push her towards Robert and lead her to making the choice that everyone already knew she was ultimately going to make anyway. The queen could set it up so that Edward comes to rescue Giselle to find that she is happy and in love with another man which could potentially shatter his image of love forever and make him think he will be much happier alone. The queen would get to continue being queen without killing anyone, Edward would never find out that his step mother is evil, Giselle would still be happy with Robert and think that she made the right decision by herself, literally no suspicions would be raised, ever.
Excellent hot take!
@@DezMarivette yes
Well if they did that, they wouldn't have a reference Maleficent Dragon fight.
OMG, I never realized this

FUN FACT: back in 2003 the original pitch of Tangled( Rapunzel movie), got recycled into Enchanted, it was called "RAPUNZEL UNBRAIDED", revolved around 2 teenagers of San Francisco who were transported in the fairytale World after a Witches curse, that will turn the 2 teenagers into the place of Rapunzel and her Prince while the REAL Rapunzel and Prince turned into a Squirrel and dog. However after this idea got scrapped, the Main elements were recycled for Enchanted :)
tbh that still sounds like a great movie with huge potential. I'd probably watch it :D
@@excessivelyfangirlingbookw3339 me too bestie the character Designs and concept art of this is breathtaking💖
Yeah, maybe scrapping this movie and splitting it between Enchanted and Tangled was a good choice.
That sounds like a movie I'd like to see!
I remember back in October of 2022 I went back and rewatched Enchanted since I hadn’t seen it since 2007, and literally a week later I was surprised to learn that after revisiting that movie and wondering why it had gone under the radar for so long that now there was a a sequel coming out not long after rewatching it.
My whole family has loved this movie for many years, love that you covered it!
I think what I like the most about this movie (aside from "That's How You Know," which is of course an all-time banger) is that it would be very easy to make Edward and/or "Nancy" be evil and antagonistic toward Giselle and Robert, but they're not. They're just people, and I think the movie actually does a pretty good job showing that even though Robert and Nancy were together for a while, they weren't the best fits for each other. Robert isn't overly romantic, and it's implied that Nancy is - which is why I always thought her running away with Edward (who is also very much into the big romantic gestures) back to Andalasia made sense from a narrative perspective.
Anyway, I really like this movie a lot. It's a ton of fun every time I rewatch it.
I liked that as well. All too often in romance stories in order to justify the main leads breaking the hearts of the people their currently with or even to justify their cheating. The love rivals, many times the people they are currently with are portrayed as Jade, selfish or evil. When in reality even their quote, unquote evil acts can be justified. I mean if someone you loved betrayed you, you are a victim if you did something bad to them in anger, it's understandable. In order to take away the dissonance the audience may feel. The characters are made to be bad. I really appreciate that this movie didn't do that.
That’s how you know slapped so hard
One of my favorite things about this movie was that the side love interests, Nancy and Edward were fleshed out. Usually the alternate love interests are one dimensional jerks and you root against them. But both Nancy and Edward are genuinely nice and helpful. I was so glad when they ended together. 🥰
Nancy's arc could have been better though.
Robert: “What... what about taking Morgan to school, you know, for some grown-up girl bonding time?”
Nancy: “What, so you can have some grown-up girl bonding time?”

7:26 She needs a place to sleep: maybe call Bellview and ask if they're missing any princesses? (Were they still open back then?)🤪
This is the 1st Disney movie I remember watching that showcased a strong, classic feminine princess as the hero. Like she literally saves Robert after he saves her, proving she isn't just a damsel. And as a little girl I LOVED that. I can't wait for the sequel.
Same
I remember watching this as a kid I was mad Giselle and Robert got together and the prince didn’t get her back , but as a young adult it warms my heart to see two people who are actually happy together with meaning and purpose
I was waiting for the prince to get to her because I Disney movies used to be so simple hahah. I thought what happened was such a wonderful twist.
Nah am still mad 😂😭
@@naivelopez3601 pfft my childhood self is still made that Giselle and Edward didn’t end up together but as an adult I’ve finally made peace with the fact that at least Nancy was worth the wait.
Me too!
my family LOVED this movie. we had it on disc and watched it about 40 times a week. at one point I knew every line. definitely a unique disney movie
Bro the princess go Isekai to modern world, truly a movie ahead of its time
"How did it take 15 years to get a sequel " Um Alex, the henchman to the queen was in the last 5 Harry Potter films as Wormtail, Robert was in Grey's Anatomy and Transformers Dark of the Moon. Edward was in 2 Sonic Movies(as well as X-Men), and Giselle became Lois Lane. The last 15 years has been KINDA insane
Not to mention at this point of time James/Edwards has just also done Superman (we can also see a glimpse of its posters in Enchanted when he’s standing on the bus) and also he was doing Hop after this. All these actors were REALLY damn busy.
Can’t forget James being in Westworld.
Kinda crazy how you forgot to mention Idina Menzel becoming one of the most popular disney characters ever, Elsa? It was truly insane though.

I always wondered why Giselle was never one of the official Disney princess’ but now I understand why. Her story is just Snow White with a twist.
This movie is a self-parody
Snow White was a minor
he story is literally snow white, sleeping beauty, cinderella combined
This may or may not be my favorite movie.
No joke.
It's been 15 years since _Enchanted_ came out in Theaters and this film was my first introduction to Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, and Idina Menzel, along with the fact the film provided a unique spin of the Disney Princess movie formula.
I'm Super excited to see the long awaited sequel, _Disenchanted,_ on Disney+ next month and can't wait for your reaction to _Disenchanted._
