I really like that the girlfriend isn't evil and she ends up with the prince.
You'd think she'd be in that evil stepsister mould, right? There's a LOT of sisters like that in fairytales, who see their poorer sister's success, go through the same moves, but are rude and cruel to the people around her and fail. One girl was given even prettier looks and a sweet voice and the chance to marry a king, while the sister was given ugliness that scared the children, a croaky voice that sounded like it was always full, and she was happy to marry a poor cobbler. Luckily, Nancy's from the real world and she can be as nice as the princess, so she gets a happy ending.
Nancy was a serious "up in the air" character before the movie came out, because her last name is Tremaine, as in Lady Tremaine, the stepmother from Cinderella. Nobody knew if she was going to be some kind of heinous bitch or if that was just a misdirection and a tongue-in-cheek reference to the fact that she'd be Morgan's stepmom. The fans waiting for it to come out were all worried that Idina was gonna be some kind of antagonist.

She and Edward were also genuinely happy when Giselle woke up. Even if their relationships were basically over, they felt happy for them. Really wholesome characters.

- Nancy is played by Idina Menzel, voice of Elsa from Frozen
- Sam, the woman at the desk is played by Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel from The Little Mermaid
- The woman in the tv show Edward watched is played by Paige O' Hara, voice of Belle from Beauty and the Beast
- The woman who opens the door when Edward knocks on it and says, "You're late" is played by Judy Kuhn, voice of Pocahontas
- The restaurant they all went to is called Bella Notte, the same name as the song in Lady in the Tramp, where the infamous spaghetti scene takes place
These were all intentional easter eggs by Disney except for Idina, since this movie came out before Frozen :)

My favorite Easter egg is that the Newscaster who interviews Giselle is named Mary Ilene Caselotti which is a reference to Mary Costa, Ilene Woods, and Adriana Caselotti who are the original voices of Aurora, Cinderella, and Snow White (also another fun building name is the motel Edward stays at which is named the “Grand Duke” from Cinderella, this movie is a love letter of Easter eggs and genius writing and I love it so much)

I also love how this movie isn’t the typical love triangle, with there being an OBVIOUS choice between who’s a jerk and who isn’t, and just making the other guy unlikable. Neither Edward nor Nancy are bad people; Edward’s just a lovable himbo, and Nancy is a realist. And they still ended up finding happiness in each other! THIS is how to do love triangles!

Amy Adams in this film is my go-to example of how good comedic acting requires just as much skill as dramatic acting. If Amy hadn't been so skilled, Giselle would have been insufferable.
Amy Adams was perfectly cast as Giselle. Enchanted is just such a fun movie. One of my favorites.

Amy Adams was honestly phenomenal in this movie. It's such a silly character but she just nailed it.
The movie isn’t about one specific princess, it’s a mix of all of them (eg. The apple = Snow White, shoe = Cinderella, dragon = sleeping beauty etc.)
Can't her saving herself also be considered a nod to Mulan?

oh and apparently the old men in the musical number in the park were the chimney sweeps in Mary Poppins and the receptionist was the voice actor of Ariel. that's cute they reuse the same actors as older movies as refferences, since you know, the movie is a parody of old Disney movies itself. this movie is also filled with other trivia, like the guy Giselle ends up with (forgot his name) wears the same blue coat as her "dream prince" she built in the beginning of the movie, as well as the outfit of Beast in Beauty and the Beast!! :D

This movie is part of why I really, really appreciated Disney casting Idina as Elsa, because her casting in this horrified a lot of Broadway fans. "YOU CAST IDINA MENZEL?! IN A MUSICAL?! AND DIDN'T LET HER SING?!" (though, of course, they made a similar "mistake" in the first Frozen by casting Jonathan Groff as the non-singing Kristoff)
And the "Rapunzel" cameo during "That's How You Know" was also intentional, since it was in development at Disney at the time.
He sang in both!!! "Reindeer are better than people" totally counts as a song. 🤣 And he sang the reindeer's part as well! (And I feel awful I didn't realize he was in Hamilton until very, very late...granted I never actually saw Hamilton, I saw him being King George on RUclips...)
idina liked the fact that she got a role for acting and not singing, at least that's what I've heard a lot about this movie

I actually had read that they intended to give Nancy a song but had to scrap it. I've definitely heard her say in multiple interviews that she was thrilled that they just wanted her to act, it made her feel like she'd really "made it" as an actress
Idina Menzel mentioned that she wanted to be viewed as an actress in this movie and not as a singer. The casting is exactly what she wanted.
This was Disney’s self aware ribbing of themselves and their princess movies. They make fun of their very well known tropes.
I think he grabs her so often because he sees her as a child and a responsibility. Also I feel like his daughter has a hard time with relationships with older women due to not having a mother and is unsure on how to connect. When Giselle came along she was the most loving, real, fun/princess older woman. Making a strong feeling of wanting to her closer than Nancy.

Disney was able to clap back at haters and make a modern classic. Considering this came out before the revival era, this movie is very underrated. And while I know it takes away some of the reality of it, I wish the film had been completely animated.
I was genuinely SO SAD as a kid when I watched it and realized that I'd misunderstood the commercials and it wasn't a fully animated movie 😅😂😭

I remember when I was 7 years old & I watched this movie in the theaters with my mom, brother & a few of our good friends. We were so young at the time!! I'm 20 years old now. Gosh, time flies...
I don’t think Enchanted is based on one specific fairy tale. If anything, those parts of the story are just a combination of different common fantasy tropes, especially ones in Disney Princess movies.

ENCHANTED 2 is starting filming on Monday14th June in a my home town in Ireland in Enniskerry.
The set looks amazing
So can you give us some info? How did the set look like?
It's set in the UK last month and in NYC last week with Amy dressed in a flowery dress with red kitten heels and a red belt and Patrick wearing a khaki jacket,creamy pants and sneakers. They also had a pink buggy too and Gabriella(Morgan) being annoyed at Giselle when she said Ready For Your Big Adventure
Carrie Underwood did a theme song for this movie called “Ever Ever After”! There’s a music video for it too! You should react to it!

As many times as ive watched and loved this, this is my first time noticing that her dream price is dressed in a deep blue coat with white trimming around the collar. Its an exact match to what Patrick Dempsey is wearing during their dance.

Giselle does make me laugh with her "happily ever after" talking but to be honest, she definitely makes me calm and to have faith. Not just on falling in love but to enjoy life no matter what throws at you.

@@daynacooper1163 Thumbelina wasn't a Disney movie. But you probably know this. I feel like they cast Jodi Benson in there because The Little Mermaid was so good. It's also a fairytale from the same author. The problem is, Thumbelina stuck closer to the source material, which made her far less interesting than the active protagonist Disney made out of the mermaid (although to be fair, she was actually a more active protagonist already, so Ariel wasn't a major stretch).
She's also Barbie in the Toy Story movies

I have to comment on Giselle running after the old man, she’s in heels and (depending on the interview) the dress weighed 35-45 POUNDS. I also would not run in that.
Its a combination of the first 4 Disney princess lol snow white sleeping beauty Cinderella and the little mermaid lol this movie was absolutely hilarious and I wish Disney made more movies like it instead of those dumb live action remakes

It's not about any particular princess. It's just a play on princess movies in general. It does take elements from the classics though.
This movie is still underrated Billy, & it definitely has something for everyone. I’ll always have a soft spot for it, as I saw it at an old friend’s house on the day my dad died from terminal cancer (a brain tumour), back in 2008.
One scene that really hits closer to home for me as an adult is when Giselle & Robert are at the Italian restaurant & he opens up to her about his wife (& presumably Morgan’s biological mother). In particular, it’s when he simply says “… She left”. Shortly before the pandemic, I was very close to some people who became like family to me. They all left suddenly, without even saying goodbye. I really wanted to hug Robert after that scene, & I’m surprised that he didn’t break down in tears in front of Giselle (at his apartment).

The final, lightning-struck battle is a homage to the battles in The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast.
1:38 Flynn Rider/Eugene played amazingly by Zachary Levi, also Giselle’s statue look and modeled after Robert’s Ball outfit, foreshadowing that Robert was her true love. 2:15 I agree🐊 9:18 Same, 9:28 SAME, Cockroaches *shutters* Nope. 13:23 In this scene “part of you’re world Instrumental” is playing in the background, bc Jodie Benson(Ariel) was Robert’s Secretary, Pocahontas’s singing voice was the women with a lot of kids when Edward was searching for Giselle, and Paige O’Hara was the lady in the Soap Opera that Edward and Nathaniel are watching in the Hotel. Also In that scene when Pip was hanging from the hanger it’s reference 2 the Jesus pose I didn’t notice that as a younger child. I believe this Disney story is completely filed with references from other stories, but it’s like if any of the other Disney Princesses came to the real world. So it’s pretty much original. Also this movie existed before Frozen.

@5:53 the woman is Jodi Benson, a staple in Disney voice acting. Her first role was The Little Mermaid's Ariel. The dad's girlfriend is Idina Menzel, (there's also a Wicked poster in Time's Square. Ha!) who would later voice Frozen's Elsa. @17:15 the woman in the soap opera is Paige O'Hara, the voice of Belle. @15:57 the elderly man dancing in the middle was a background dancer in Mary Poppins. There are little cameos like this sprinkled throughout the film from various Disney people since the film is basically Disney spoofing Disney :D

If you look back at the beginning of the movie, the statue of the man in giselle's dream matches Robert's outfit at the ball. Giselle was shook during the scene with robert in his bathrobe because she realized in that moment her true love was robert not edward.
